I had no idea that Ventura tried to unionize wrestlers. Amazing
@Fix_It_Again_Tony3 ай бұрын
Yeah, that is super interesting because it's been somewhat of an open secret for years that McMahon treated his talent poorly. Wrestlers are independent contractors who get no health benefits. They literally put their bodies on the line every performance and when they are arthritic and and their brains riddled with CTE, the WWE just finds "new meat". Naturally there are also no retirement benefits. Despite being independent contractors wrestlers are limited by the WWE from engaging in activities that may help supplement their incomes like streaming on Twitch and likely other forms of promotion on social media. So the people at the top of the WWE were raking in the cash, and McMahon monetarily rewarded Hulk Hogan for his loyalty, but pay dropped off steeply from there with many not knowing day to day whether they would have a job or not. They were required to provide their own transportation to the events, with many occurring in foreign countries. Imagine if the NFL or MLB required players to pay for their own flights. Of course many of these payers get paid very, very well, but that's because of their unions. It's a perfect example of why a union is needed: Immense pay and power disparities between management and workers, plus severe health risks inherent in the job for workers without any kind of protections for them and the lack of the ability of workers to have any say in their careers.

Sgt Ventura? What a joke. After 6 years in the Navy he could only attain the rank of E4 and that was during the Vietnam war. As a retired Army Veteran who served 2 years in the reserves and over 20 years of active duty (2 and a half in Vietnam and a hardship tour in Korea) I find both men disgusting. I’m fully onboard with Kamala, but I don’t know if she will give that up, it’s so much power to have as a President that even the best of people will be convinced “I can use this for good” I hope though that she does weaken the powers of the President in general that way if we get another Trump in the future they will do less damage to us.
@richardvernon3173 ай бұрын
Normally they are not, but a lot of plans in most Military's like the UK and US involve Reservists and the Weekend Warriors (NG (US) and TA (UK) being involved in overseas wars. There are basically two types of war a Country can fight, General (USA and Allies toe to toe with the Commies in WWIII would be example) or Limited (Vietnam / Iraq / Afghanistan). In the former the National Guard would be activated and during the Cold War, NG/ANG units did deploy the Europe to train and do exercises as if a general war started they would be required to fight overseas. In the later, limited war, the NG would most likely back fill US based slots (however medical units and alike would deploy), However fighting in AFG and Iraq at the same time was stupid.

@@persebra Biden is not Walz nor Harris. Also get things into perspective. Do you want Trump and Project 2025? Because you're going to get it by default if you keep this up. You need a reality check. This is an existentialist crisis and we cannot help the people of Gaza if we sleepwalk into being ruled by a dictator ourselves. None of this is ideal and if you assume I'm not an advocate for, and tormented by the suffering of the people in Gaza, you're making a serious mistake. I'm not going into the whole complex and ghastly situation in the ME. But it is not undone or cured by being self-righteous about it and then not voting for Harris. When the political world is perfectly lined up to your satisfaction let me know, but meanwhile neither Walz, Harris or Biden are responsible for the situation entirely. After he came out (with freshly washed hands) he asked me if I would be kind enough to introduce him to one of my coworkers. "I'll check with him." and went to his dressing room and informed him that Governor Jesse Ventura was wondering if you have the time for a brief meeting in the hall... Then I introduced them...
