I'm still a fan of Synthmaster. Shaperbox 2 is growing on me and Izo's Breaktweaker for beats. For inspiration some Captain Plugins and Scalar. Izo's PhoenixVerb for reverb. I think you are right in working and understanding what you have. I suppose the big difference these days comes down to workflow. If it's not easy it can break focus.

Couple that weren’t mentioned and are really useful IMO - Reaktor - Insanely complex but sounds fantastic, SynthMaster 2 for slightly unusual but also rich and useable presets which can be easily tweaked, and for really quick vanilla type sounds I like the AiR products - eg Hybrid for clean stuff, Loom 2 additive digital sounds. For my more experimental stuff - again Reaktor, also Glitch machine plugs- all are brilliant, and the Melda plugs. Love the honesty of your vids Cameron - I’ll be joining the Patreon - All the best.

Awwww man. Reminded me of why I purchased Falcon2 (after your granular tutorial with it). I’m deep into MSoundFactory at the moment, but gosh those pluck presets of Falcon sound GREAT. Thx for an awesome video Cameron.
@tomtabak3 жыл бұрын
the potential of msoundfactory is insane but i find it still lacks some functions that are important to me. The main ones are stretching and granular algorithms in the sampler and more midi options apart from the somewhat decent arp. It is insanely good at most things and is a must have in my opinion, i only wish it fits my workstyle better so i don't end up switching to falcon or Bitwigs native sampler in the end.
@TemmeSikkema3 жыл бұрын
@@tomtabak I do agree with you, and the stuff that is still lacking will absolutely come to MSF sooner rather than later. In some ways I find MSF more “intuitive” than Falcon2, and the quirks seem to be part of the charm of “all things Melda”. What I like about Melda compared to Falcon/UVI is that everything’s “open” because there are hardly any “sales politics”. Of course this will likely mean there also won’t be many third party presets and stuff. But I don’t mind that.

Stock plug-ins get you 100% of the way to a professional finished project. It's kind of silly to think you need insane how good the stock plugins for logic pro x and ableton live are.
@VenusTheory3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the DAW and your own taste I suppose. Some stock reverbs/distortions/compressors/etc can sound really bland or just flat out bad compared to third party alternatives (free or paid). I doubt any DAW is going to compete with a purpose built plugin like Valhalla Shimmer or something like UVI Shade. But, in the end, if fully stock stuff works then it works - can't debate the fact that if the track sounds good, what you used is irrelevant.
@robertsyrett19923 жыл бұрын
@@VenusTheory So take Valhalla reverbs as a good example. When they first released them the comparative difference was huge with the stock plug-ins. But since then Logic overhauled their reverb algorithms to probably rip Valhalla off and Ableton released a downloadable reverb pack that does the same. I agree that at the end of the day if you like the way it sounds then it doesn't matter who wrote the plug-in, but Apple at least aggressively tries to include all the popular plug-ins as generic unless copy-right or patents prevent them.

I bought the AHM 5050 amp sim from audio assault for about 10€ on sale. And it was the best purchase I ever made for music. I've never owned a real amp and having some great presets in that suite really helped just play guitar and only mess with the tone when I am trying to get a tone rather than develop a musical idea. It nails the standard metal rhythm chug sound. Pretty satisfying to lay down a riff and develop section around it. I never could dial in the free amps quite like that even though more experienced people get really good tones out of free stuff all the time.

@VenusTheory3 жыл бұрын
Still on my list to try someday. Soothe seems really useful!
@murraywebster1228 Жыл бұрын
There are quite a few that can replicate even better Soothe2, eg. Sonible Smart eq or Smart Comp, they are both spectral plugins using over 2000 frequency bands, so basically a multiband compressor on steroids and a dynamic eq using many microscopic frequency bands, Smart Limiter also uses a variable spectral component, I can’t remember which but one of the TDR eq‘s also has an intelligent analyser mode for dynamic eq which works extremely well like all their products, and don’t forget the multiple modules from iZotope that also have a similar function,just coming at it from different angles, the eq module with frequency tracking is also very useful but in this mode it is no longer dynamic, and let’s not forget Gulfoss doing it in its inimitable style…and I’m sure I’ve missed quite a few….oh yes, the new(ish) Kirchhof eq of course

Nimbus and R4 are just cheaper versions (when on sale) of Neoverb with more depth and the same sound. Neoverb uses their algorithms and trades depth for ease of use, but...
