So, that's how she retired? At age 78!! (Actress' real age. If you take the years shown in this episode, with her as a young teen girl in 1968, that was 56 years ago!! So Vera be 68-70?). I doubt that guy would be made "boss", nor promoted to DCI. He has too many "issues".

Watching from Brittany myself, and I love Vera. I also loved ' Rosemary & Thyme ' . Also straightforward, witty and interesting ('regular') ladies from Britain (the Great one) we could enjoy following in splendid and rough landscapes. The plots were sometimes a bit 'pulled by the hair' as the French phrase says, but the sleuthing was still rather sound and mostly managed to make the whole thing look believable and realistic. I liked them and watch them again every time I come across them. I even think I'm going to put them on the back-burner (of my mind) to look for them asap.. But first, I'm gonna get myself some more VERA , in the nearer future... There's this difference from the American series where everybody has to be beautiful, which I very much appreciate, afaiac... Oh so beautifully portrayed, Vera making the decisions to the end, I found myself thinking how thst clever inquisitive problem solving mind of hers could ever be satisfied without the stimulation of her job, but that smile on her face, bird watching through her binoculars, ( her dad's ) and her new best friend beside her, I thought she's going to be alright, and Joe so deserving of his new position, ohh, I'm really going to miss Vera and her team.
