I had the first version, Landrover Discovery. I had a noise near my feet. I took it to the dealer, and they replaced the hydraulic pump. I think that was a A$ 2000.00 job under warranty. The noise was still there. I did my own investigation and found it to be the steering column seal where it goes through the firewall. One squirt of silicone fixed the noise!!! The motto of this story and your video is "learn how to do your own maintenance".

We have driven our D3 to 42 countries on two expeditions. London to Cape Town and London to Melbourne. We have been to many LR dealerships. I have been cheated in two countries by LR dealerships. 1. London Battersea and 2. Melbourne City Land Rover. 🥲In London I paid for a diffs and transmission fluid service on early maintenance cycle. They never did any of them and that is an expensive service. It also possibly cost me a torque converter later on. In Melbourne they changed the high pressure pump when the low pressure pump was the fault. Zero confidence in LR dealerships to maintain these vehicles. Both times I thought I can trust these dealerships rather than do it myself. Big mistake. Great video, keep it up. 👍👍

Fabians D3 need a complete rust proofing very soon. You've to replace the filters once a year to be on the safe side. KN filters are more open and must be cleaned with some special cleaner. KN filters last for 100,000 km, but not all engines are satisfied with KN: higher fuel consumption and more noisy. In heavy rain the snorkel sucks water into the filter and will damage it. That can be avoided by turning the scoop / air intake 180°, and it points to the rear. Oil change in the differentials would be a good idea. On the gearboxes it's more complicated. Good video.
@VictorVerhagen3 жыл бұрын
I had the same issue, the car was going in to limp mode constantly and first thing I did I replaced the fuel filter and the damn water sensor screw broke off and it was leaking diesel everywhere, then I bought an whole fuel filter assembly including the a new filter and sensor which was only a few euros more than a plain filter and thankfully it solved the problem and the car drove perfectly.

As I might have said, we have a 2000 D2 TD5 which we love, but watching your videos is beginning to make me think I've been too worried about maintaining a D3 if we had to replace ours. I don't like K&N filters either, cheap and nasty but very expensive to buy. We have a Luna too, ours is a mini schnauzer girl... we have three, two girls and a boy 🐺❤️
@smartiecooper47023 жыл бұрын
Oil everywhere. know that problem, however careful you are it always happens. Enjoyed your delivery Chrstian, very entertaining. Dealers are basically dishonest, so no surprise the fuel filter has never been changed. Our Disco 3 is a 2009, owned from new & has been brilliant, however can't help feeling things might be about to change. Still drives well but random warning lights keep coming & going which is a problem when the MOT comes around.
@Vera_and_Christian3 жыл бұрын
👍 Those warning lights can tick you off. But often it's an easy repair if you are familiar with your car. We always look at the Disco Uk forum for tips. Their site is linked in almost every video from us. And at one point in the life of a Discovery a diagnostic tool is uttermost importance. 😅 Otherwise those bings and bongs and 3 Amigos, how we call them, are going to drive you nuts🙋♀️ Vera

I don't understand how such a nice vehicle could have been so poorly maintained. Really embarrassing for that LR dealership. My 2005 doesn't have so much corrosion underneath.
