Great video guys! I would like to make an observation on my LR3 from the past 3 days. In Slovenia where I am from we have experienced a catastrophic flash flood Friday and Saturday. My brother runs our families professional horse stable located near our largest river Sava where we had to emergency evacuate about 50 horses, all hands on deck scary scenario. A funny thing with horses is that their usual fussy panicky neurotic behaviour completely changes and they become very lenient and cooperative when they sense the danger in such a situation. Much like horses it seems the LR3 can also sense danger and my 06 HSE disco despite of all it's problems the many electrical issues (currently SRS light that I just can not find the fault of), leaky fuel return line, noisy timing chain, rattling torque converter (which was replaced), and many other... has performed flawlessly! Towing heavy horse trailers at very high highway speeds, steep inclines, countless drives through very very deep water over the whole weekend, hauling equipment and so on... being at one point the only car that could tow away the remaining horses out of the flooded stable! It has reminded me why I fell in love with this car in the first place. It is a fantastic machine and I now love it even more. I am glad we all have you guys showing us how to properly tackle any job it needs.

Brilliant as always. I drive my Discovery 4 and previously my Discovery 3 wearing crocs. Sometimes the discovery’s would go into limp mode and need to be reset (ignition off) I eventually discovered that the clip holding the strap on my Crocs would catch the brake pedal whilst accelerating and this throws the car into limp mode with many many faults showing 😂😂. So just a tip for all that reads this comment. Don’t wear big shoes and drive a discovery 😊

Brilliant video as always. From experience Vera, tell Christian that my 2.7 engine is always about 5 miles/gallon worse fuel consumption than my 3.0 engine. Even though it is less powerful. However, The 2.7 is more reliable than the 3.0, highlighted by the fact that I too had exactly the same leak on the junction to the throttle body and going into limp-home mode as you. By leaving my iCarsoft tool attached, I could reset the limp-home on the move until I got home. Having fixed that leak, it then blew a hole in to plastic inlet manifold. No such problems have ever happened with my 2.7, having done one and half times more miles! Guess which engine I prefer, despite the extra fuel it uses?

It's one of your desktop mechanics here! Copper slip and aluminium - no! Used with steel/CI I've never experienced problems, personally speaking.... Any dissimilar metals have the propensity for galvanic/electrolytic corrosion, usually in the presence of a catalyst - salt water! Us boaters know this to our cost. You could try installing sacrificial anodes of course! In the UK people would be kerbing spaced out wheels on such a big vehicle... Use silicone grease - it will aid air tight sealing of plastic parts in particular, it's now become expensive here and I get through loads of it. I have the same issue with MPG - enough said! Well done you two, another great, engaging and thoroughly enjoyable video for the armchair brigade!

Another great episode in the Disco 3 rebuild. Makes my Sunday mornings. But I have to ask. After doing a great job refurbishing the frame, suspension arms, etc., why did you not also paint the brake calipers? Also I would ask the same about the engine block? I know that they are not painted at the factory, but rusty calipers always look a bit grotty to me. The block is arguable being not that visible these days but still makes for a neat engine bay appearance IMHO. Cheers, Bill

Aluminium anti seize is the correct stuff for two surface when one is aluminium. Just be careful getting it on your skin, you will absorb it and the human body doesn't like it.
