My Uncle has the one his Great Grandmother and her sister's used from the 1890's. It opened into a zigzag and had to be placed on the stove like an iron. I thought it was incredible what women went through in the name of beauty. Watching your lovely wife use it frightened me, I used to be fearless, riding Motor cross and all. Wow, Radek - what a strange old gadget! This looks like it would have taken longer than usual to restore just because there were so many small parts and some of them needed to be repaired. You did a beautiful job; this will be an excellent restored addition to the museum (if it's going back to them). And Veronika - you are a good sport, and a very brave (beautiful) girl! I'm glad you demonstrated how to use it, I was clueless LOL! My grandmother was a flapper in the 1920s and must have used one of these.
