Cool find! I'd recommend, if you have one, using a 208 / 240v power outlet such as a drier socket if you can to achieve the full intensity of that lamp but regardless, it's a cool not so little bit of kit!! I do love me a good self-ballasted merc!

it wouldn't really work without envelope so if it breaks it fails? some regular ballasted bulbs even had special resistor there iirc that didn't like air i recall staring mv streetlight when young when it was broken. later i realized i stared into uv source. nice greenish blue glow tho

this means you could operate european sbmv in the us without a transformer but not the other way around in europe if the sbmv lamp was 120v and was to be used in europe.

Hey Frankie I am Ray Fluorescent I have a KZbin channel that you should check out I collect fluorescent lightbulbs and have for over 52 years and still do I have a few vertebrae fluorescent bolts not too many but a few and they were bought out or they bought out Lustra but then I think Phillips bought them both out but I was a great mercury vapor Barbula showed and vertebrae florescence are very hard to come by nowadays and I can’t see very well to type so if certain words get misspelled or miss pronounced or whatever please forgive me I’ll take care and have a nice day and let me know what you think take care
