I use the overnight facial peel product because my skin is extremely sensitive to most exfoliators. I’m using it as a way to slowly increase the level of actives in my routine. I also recommend it to clients who are hesitant to use chemical exfoliators. It’s not much, but I think it’s a user friendly intro product.
@AliceintheRabbitHole3 жыл бұрын
I do agree. I'm still haunted by that video of the kid who used a dermaroller and THEN FOLLOWED with the Ordinary peeling solution. That's not wise for...anyone!? This, however, is perfect for newbies or for sensitive skin.
@blitz3dmusic3 жыл бұрын
Looking at the overnight facial product really drove home your point about the shortcomings of inci lists and how misleading they can be. Lactic and glycolic acid (0.01%) comes before vitamin E (0.5%) and had they did not disclosed concentrations I would have for sure thought they were above 1%! I wont go as far as to say this was done to intentionally mislead the customer but its definitely eye opening!
@AliceintheRabbitHole3 жыл бұрын
Right, I think part of it is that the "more is better" mentality is driven into our heads, even though the reality is that many ingredients are at their most optimal performance at low levels. So it leaves companies in an odd position for sure - they may create an effective product, but if they admit the percentages, will that turn people off? It's also why I think knowledge is power though - there may be an odd phase of people realizing what they do best with, but eventually it could all fall into place and lead to buying the products that work out best for each of us (...or I'm an idealist 🤷♀️ lol)
@blitz3dmusic3 жыл бұрын
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Your absolutely right and I really appreciate that you touch on this in your videos. Like you said it does beg the question tho. Was their alleged initial reluctance to disclose the percentages for this specific product due to a fear that some people might be in for an awakening? Interestingly enough I also recently read in some papers that the concentration of various growth factors in cell culture conditioned media (super expensive star ingredient in TNS serum and others alike) are in the ppb (pg/ml) to ppm (ug/ml) range. FGF was the highest concentration at around 3 ug/ml which equates to 0.0003%! Kinda puts things in perspective a bit.

I’m so happy for this review! Finding the Versed line was really helpful for me getting started in skincare. I found their Keep the Peace wash and it was so awesome for my dry skin and doesn’t irritate my rosacea. I can’t find anything that works as well for my breakouts and doesn’t strip my skin. Thanks for doing a review! Looking forward to trying some of their newer products. I did try their Day dissolve but I think it’s been reformulated since I first gave it a try. I may have to try it again because I really wasn’t fond of it at first. I preferred the Elf holy hydration Cleansing Balm to it, although the fragrance of the Day Dissolve was quite nice.
@AliceintheRabbitHole3 жыл бұрын

So glad you finally did this review!! I’m glad you tried the gentle milky cleanser. I hated it at first for the same reasons you mentioned, but now I love it. I really think you would love the acne-calming cream cleanser though, I feel like it was made for you. It’s not hydrating like the other but it’s so gentle and soothing for a BHA product. Soo funny about the overnight facial peel…I had no idea the strength was that low. I’ve used it before but stopped because every time after I’d use it my skin looked mildly crappy after and I couldn’t figure out why. Down the road I learned I was sensitive to AHAs. With other AHAs my skin freaks out, with this one it was like a crab being boiled, slowly so I didn’t know what was happening. So I feel like maybe even the low strength does do something…. 🤷♀️ that would be a good research project 😆
@AliceintheRabbitHole3 жыл бұрын
It's very possible that it does! Especially given that the peel has those humectant/occlusive properties to it. It's a huge reason why at the end of the day, i truly think the only way to know if a product will work for us is to try it. And why I'm a believer in samples/minis!

I actually experimented with Teatree Rosemary frankincense and lavender diluted in squalane oil and my skin oh my goodness it healed so much from the breakouts I was having I was getting deep cystic acne and that’s all gone right now! 😭 I used purito defense barrier Cleanser and then after I would use a hyaluronic acid serum from the Inkeylist and then apply the blended oil on top of it and that’s it for a week and my skin loves!! But now I’m only applying it as a spot treatment before bed. I understand that some essential oils can be irritating but some of them are also healing and they get a bad rep However I will say that it’s about how much you use and I only use three drops of each. When it comes to essential oils in leave on skin care I avoid it because I don’t know the percentage

I was such a fan of several Versed products. Their Recovery Mode Advanced Night Cream and Advanced Restoring Serum were, IMO, total standouts for SUCH a good price point. Both are no longer available anywhere that I can find. What is happening over at Versed? Target has all their product on sale, I wonder if they are being discontinued. Also, I'm with Arra (sp?), I HATE the sensation of moisturizer on my skin! Blech. I rarely use it, but instead use moisturizing sunscreen. At my age I'm taking a chance, but I feel suffocated and oily with a rich moisturizer, it's been a real issue for me in terms of aging and skincare.

@@AliceintheRabbitHole So I went ahead and sent them an e-mail through their website. A woman responded to me and said that the beautiful night cream and restoring serum are indeed discontinued (I'm guessing several of the other products you mention are no longer available because I couldn't find them on their website). She did not answer my question about whether they were still being sold at Target, but she did tell me they have new products launching. I asked her for an ETA, and she said they weren't releasing that info yet, but that I would be "excited" to see them. So, I'm wondering if they were bought out by someone, and the less profitable items were phased out. I did read that Versed Skincare is/was owned by Katherine Powers who also owns Merit--another brand I love.

Totally agree. It's so tempting to do EVERYTHING for a pimple (oh how I know lol), but the best thing for it is one targeted acne treatment and moisture to allow the skin to heal.
