I own every version of this pedal since 2003 or so. It was perfect when it first came out. It just keeps going to the next level of perfect with every new version. Extremely versatile and the best price ever for a boutique pedal. Good demo.

Is it good for low gain, Hendrix-type sounds with a Strat?

@@paulblanchet542 The Gain Changer is better suited for that. It does less with your actual sound, is more transparent, as the Direct Drive is more mid-voiced for leads and hard rock. I run a Tele into an Xotic Compressor (low setting) and into a Gain Changer (very low gain) for a sustaining clean sound. It adds a tiny bit of hair that reacts very well to picking dynamics and volume control and doesn't add much gain. This is my go-to clean sound.

@@paulblanchet542 Paul - I just bought one ( GC SR ) and I am picky-as-hell, and difficult to please. I am in love with my Gain Changer SR. David Barber knows his stuff = Great Value too. I also play a Strat.

Love Barber Pedals. I just got his Gain Changer SR. It's a Do-all Overdrive. Sounds Phenomenal. Clean-boost, to Jazzy leads to lite Blues crunch to Classic Rock.
