I just received this in the mail at the end of last week. I threw it on my board and played through it for the first time this past Sunday morning, and quite frankly..my tone has never sounded better. I hit the front end of a POD Go, and this thing made the entire rig sound like pure fire. Everything sounded cleaner, yet more authentic and naturally saturated, and it just..SANG. We're recording a studio album, and I cannot wait to see the producer's face when he hears this. Nice!

Really nice to see a focus on clean rather than overdrive, as I get just as much joy out of playing clean. I also use the Hotrod ML as my primary amp with my es-330 style guitar and the Tele. Christmas is too far away, so I'll put this one on the end of financial year list...Thanks for all the great content. I've been enjoying all the good discussions and content on this channel.

SSS owner, here. I believe this is possibly the most misunderstood pedal available; it in fact does VERY LITTLE, because it's designed to enhance an already great clean tone, without SCREWING IT UP.

Was lucky and got #454 of 500! Love this pedal. Run it into a 64 Super Reverb custom made by Uncle Spot/Ron Vail. Was the last amp he made before he retired. Used all the special little components he saved for their excellent properties. On top of that my speakers were upgraded by one of my favorite "Bluesman" Jonny Winter! By itself it sounds close enough to fool most discerning ear. With this pedal, it seals the deal. Thank you for building this pedal.

Well Mason that was a very great concise review of that pedal, showing what he can do going through a straight up production line amp that many of us either own or have owned… flat out can’t deny the fact that the hot Rod has got a great clean sound such a great foundation to build petals off of for the working musician who can’t afford a multi multi thousand dollar amp. i’ve been a fan of the dumble sound since the mid-late 70s and for the longest time had no idea what I was a fan of… I was a fan of Larry Carlton of course and R. Ford… but it was probably 15 years ago when I was helping to promote a concert in the Guitar Player I had called and asked for some stuff to be ready on back line before we wrangled up some fenders… But he showed up with his own amp…a Dumble Steel String Singer. I said so dude what’s all the hubbub, I was very familiar with boutique camps the closest I ever got to it was boogies, but I will I will step away because I just was never satisfied with the clean sound… I was always like man I want something between a twin and a hot rod, just a big open clean sound but Gotta have sweet mids and if I can get that, I think I can make any overdrive pedal sound great. He said well dude you’re in for a treat plug-in and play. so I plugged in my beard electric, made by my friend Paul Beard who makes the beard resonator guitars… We were high school charms, played in the band and he bought me this guitar in 1986… I think like the second instrument he ever built so I was a guinea pig but it worked out great… That amp knocked me over. So yeah you’re right if you listen to Larry John Mayer or R. Ford, You can’t help to be a fan of that amp. I’ve tried pedals they can get me close, I use a J Rockett Dude and it has the characteristics of that overdriven Dumble… but never really been satisfied with the clean tones… i’ve been using your accessories for several years for my paddleboard and it’s about time that I pick up some vertex fx!!!

Hello I purchased SSS Double Preamp Slight Return Edition from Sweetwater Music it was a demo model. After watching the video on it now I understand exactly how it works. I have a fender tone Master blonde Twin Reverb I also have a Roland Blues Cube artist with the Robben Ford tone capsule in it. So far I'm starting to become very quite impressed with these clean sounds it's kind of like it makes the amplifier three-dimensional😅 that's the only way I can describe. I'm sending you this letter Friday August 4th 2023 I haven't taken it out on a gig yet but I will most likely use it as a clean boost and enhancement it's like I get two different channels to choose from on this kind of cool good job dudes on this development

I also think the clean player is the unsung hero… Everybody seems to go after the overdriven stuff to learn and many people do a great job on it… But love the clean guys, there’s stuff kind of gets left on the shelf… Makes you think it’s not so easy to play? Walk into a guitar store I don’t hear many people nailing John Mayer stuff. I was in San Fran one time about four years ago for a conference and I stepped into the guitar center and heard a guy playing a good bit of John Mayer stuff and he was nailing it and playing through quite a few amps from American to British… When you get somebody to complain like that, has the right guitar and can get the tones…yea That’s more satisfying than hearing a shredder

Very nice. I’ll have to get this pedal and turn my TK into a Dumble. What a beautiful sound. I heard Ben Harper’s/David Lindley’s and Robben Ford’s Dumbles. I love Robben Ford, but Ben Harper’s Dumbles are special. Their sound is HUGE! I’m using a JRAD Dude and Wampler Euphoria to get some of that sound from my TK Gremlin, but I bet the Vertex pedals are better.

VERTEX, The KWS Kenny Wayne Strat pickups are custom Voiced windings and he uses fender white amps but they have dumble circuits inside of them. You should try to make a circuit to get those KWS voiced tones because KWS says it has that sparkle on the top end and midrange twang. You should also make a video lesson about finding guitar pedals that are "mid scoop" so you can using a TS pedal, klon, Texas Ranger to drive into a Mid scoop pedal. I'm not sure which SRV songs he used 2 TS pedals in series but it sounds like SRV was trying to use 2 TS pedals to get that "overwound pickup tone" which you should research which SRV songs he used 2 TS pedals in series because in the studio he did this. NUX 65 pedal is a super reverb preamp pedal which sounds really good for the money $50 dollars which you should check it out.

@@VertexEffectsInc Which pedals use BiMOS chips instead of CMOS chips for FET overdrive pedals? you should make a video about various FET based overdrive pedals that uses JFETS, MOSFETS, CMOS FETS, BiMOS FETS. The Ibanez MOSFET used CMOS Fets which have been discontinued that were used in the ibanez MOSDistortion pedal. Most FET ovedriver pedals use JFETS or MOSFET but there are also ones that use CMOS chips and BiMOS chips which you should look into because they all get different "edge of breakup tone" and compress differently because FETS has a different compression points.

Question for all of you out there... If i feed this into my effects loop to bypass the amps preamp tone, where should this sit on my pedal board, at the very end? Or just prior to my ambient/reverbs etc? Obviously i will place my OD/Boosts before this.. but i want this to effectively act as my tube amps preamp. Any help would be great before I purchase this.. btw.. its sounds amazing!!

Can I ask a question? I used to have an RJM RG-16 rack unit that combined 8 switchable pedal loops with 8 amp function switches. RJM sold a cable that connected from my Fuchs TDS combo to the RG-16 and this allowed me to replicate all the amp's footswitch functions, and, configure various pedals to be on/off - all controlled by my Roland FC200 footswitch. In looking at purchasing something new, I see the GigRig G3, a huge advance from the pedal capabilities of the RG-16, I'm wondering if it can also reproduce all the functions of the Fuchs footswitch? ...I have a feeling not, given it has a much reduced amp switching output section (if I'm seeing that right). Unfortunately, RJM don't do the RG-16 or any updated equivalent (that I can see) - which is very odd considering guitarists also want to include replication of their amp's footswitch functions into any switcher. No problem of course if you want to stay on e.g. the clean channel all the time, but a total waste of the amp if it includes other fantastic channels (and features e.g. boost, reverb, EQ etc). I'm wondering what's you thoughts? Do you know of anything modern that has the functionality of the RG-16?
@waynegram89078 ай бұрын
Amplifier Nation Designer is saying that ALL Dumble amplifiers used stacked 2 channel EQ circuits that is running two channels 'in series" so you have 2 EQ circuits that are stacked in series. The Vertex Dumble pedals don't have Two EQ circuits stacked in series, any reasons why? plus on the back of the Dumble amplifiers there is also RATIO controls because all Dumble amplifiers have 3 to 4 gain controls.

Love this show, I got a few of your pedalboard parts, the metal base and the flip step up. Awesome products, like a realization of what people actually want in a well made product. So I have one issue left on my board... the power supply power cable has a box on it that has another plug to the wall... I want a way to stack these boxes securely and just be able to plug the secondary cables into them when I set up. Do you have such an item for sale?

I love how u focused on the clean tone. As a player who mostly plays clean you have my attention. What is the difference between this version and your last SRV version? Is it just less gain to your previous version or something completely different?

I’d love to hear the same thing. I have the SSS SRV Slight Return version and I pretty much use it through a Hot Rod Deluxe exclusively for my main sound. If it’s something that is a huge difference I’d be interested to get another one for my board.

Really a good video! HOWEVER, it has the one MAJOR LET DOWN that nearly EVERY other similar demo video has. Granted, they often incorporate a LP, a Strat and a Tele. And thats all well and good. But they so often fail to include a P-90 guitar. I hope you'll consider doing this in your upcoming demo videos. I imagine a lot of other guitarists might find this beneficial. You might even sell more products in the process. Thank you.

I just bought this pedal. I bought it to pair with my HX stomp, hoping to bypass the amp block and use the SSS as my amp going into the IR blocks. I also hoped to pair with my Seymour, Duncan Powerstage, and bypass the amp block and IR blocks to re-create a Dumble-ish amplifier. In both scenarios I can’t make the SSS sound like a real amplifier. It sounds like I’m playing an amplifier underwater if that makes sense lol. Any tips to make it sound like how it sounds in this video when you play the SSS into the Cab M? Thanks.
@VertexEffectsInc Жыл бұрын
My favorite is the Two-Notes Cab M as I have the ability to choose my speakers, mics, and mic position. The Power Stage is pretty linear and I believe is class D so it's going to be pretty unforgiving compared to a tube amp power section. As to the HX I think you can get closer for sure, you can experiment with sending it into a Fender style preamp model and warming it up either pre or post amp and then feed a 2x12 Cabinet. For this demo we used a Dumble style 2x12 model cab (Two Rock cabinet in the Two Notes software) with a 57 and a 121. That's it.
