I typically don't like to comment, however I just recently acquired the Masterpiece Models stand for 1/48 planes (not a biplane jig) and the concept is similar. The Masterpiece Models version I think is superior. The vertical supports are 3D printed requiring no assembly (other than to the main assembly). The hardware is fine no issues with them. There is no felt for the supports but this is easily added. It also came with rubber feet including a fifth one for under the center. Price is about the same. The only real issue I had was removing the protective paper from the Plexiglas parts, likely because it had been on there for awhile.

I appreciate your comment and valuable input, Carl. I may have to check out the jig from Masterpiece Models. It does indeed sound superior in several ways. Thank you again for the comment!

The Vertigo jig looks like a great concept of a tool for someone building larger scale bi-planes -- but that concept seems let down by the material problems. For that price I would expect better fit - really its not a complicated gizmo. Regardless - looking forward to seeing you use it. Thanks for the video.

To be honest, I was a little disappointed. I made my own share of mistakes. Some, complicated by trying to work around my camera and my poor setup. Also, I tried to make the video "organic" in that it was a "real time" experience. I didn't look at the instructions before starting to build so everyone got to see me work through my own confusion. Maybe not the best approach for videos😀

I found mine to be occasionally useful, as noted below for bipe work. I have a much more simple version I use often... Or an egg carton🤗

That's what I'm talking about. I still haven't gotten to where I use this one. I have found easier and better ways to hold the models. I like the egg carton idea. Thanks!

Is there any reason why you can’t rotate the vertical supports through 180 degrees to reduce the minimum span/length if you wanted to?

Nope, other than reworking the support arms, that would work and give another 3” or so. I almost showed that in the video, guess I should have noted that. Thanks for pointing that out in the comments 👍👍

Interesting tool/jig.

Yep. Should work well. Just should have spent a lot more time studying parts and instructions before I just done in go build it up 😏

if CA glue keeps sticking to you keep a rag that has been dampened with acetone near by ... wipe your finger tips on the rag every so often to keep the glue residue off your fingers .... acetone will debond CA glue ... so dont spill it on your CA glued parts ... if you dont have a can of acetone borrow your wifes nail polish remover same stuff smaller bottle

Thanks for the good tips, really appreciate it. Obviously needed it when making this little video :)
