My family's first dog was a King Charles Cavalier. She would sit on my mother's lap for hours on end. Her only movement would be to look up in utter adoration at my mother and then sigh and put her head back down. Cavalier's think of themselves as royalty, but also view their owners as monarchs.

After 11 years old, my sister’s Westie did the same. She finally brought a wagon on the walk and when he got tired he would sit in the wagon. As soon as he had more energy, he hopped out to walk and then back in the wagon exhausted. This went on until his last year of life he just rode in the wagon. He wore a diaper his last 6 mos. RIP Cody!

• definitely old • actually he wouldn't be ruby, he's SEVERELY off standard not only in color but in literally every other aspect, he's either BYB or a mix. • he's also severely overweight, poorly maintained considering the state he came in as. And considering this groomer trimmed his fur, the groomer has absolutely no care for upholding standard only further making this dog not look like the breed he's claimed to be.

For 13 years, one of these graced my family with his presence, though, he was a bit different. He'd happily go on walks every 1-2 hours as I went to sneak a smoke as a teenager, he'd run after pine cones as long as a human was willing to throw them for him, he'd love to be tethered outside and run around for hours. Cavaliers are notoriously sweet, loving dogs. I worked as a vet tech for years and it was the only breed I consistently saw many of that was never aggressive in any way.

Fellow vet tech here! They are indeed sweet, but I have had the misfortune of meeting several ill tempered spaniels. Though, to be fair, the irritable ones were cocker spaniels, not the King Charles. I worry about their hearts all the time. So many of them have cardiac issues.

@@stealthpanther Cockers are very different than the Cavs. Cockers can be aggressive and protective. My family has had 2 cockers and 4 cavs over the years. Cockers are loving and sweet to family members, cavs love everybody. I'm not sure a cav would know how to bite somebody, it would certainly take an abused dog to get there. Yes, sadly the cavaliers are quite prone to heart disease, it's very sad. My Daisy died from heart disease at 13. However my mom had one that lived to 16, and only developed a slight murmur in the last 2 years of her life.

The cut they got on this cavalier looks like something one would get on a poodle, and the sole fact that the owners had this double coated dog literally shaved down all over it's body paws and all and only left the ears mostly there, they aren't responsible owners regardless. Why would someone buy a dog they don't like the look of (the only reason they would have it clipped like this) just to make it look like another breed. It reminds me of the "doodle" people who say they hate poodles then get thier doodle cut into a poodles teddy bear/puppy cut where a poodle would look exactly the same and be a thousand times better tempered, healthier, and have a predictable hair coat.
