A little known fact is that during this scene it was the first scene that Heath Ledger filmed as the Joker. As he walked in it was the first time many had seen Heath in full character. During this scene, the actor playing Alfred was supposed to say something, but he was so scared of Heaths portrayal that he forgot to say his lines, and they just rolled with it. Amazing.

Jake Girard That's what I'm saying, not only that, "keep in mind I love heaths performance" but they comment on how he is a realistic joker. First of all the movie was rated PG-13, joker not rated pg-13, I was suspended for having a copy of the killing joke in the 3rd grade. Most people don't get that the Joker is just a reflection of the joke that Batman is. Batman heroism only exists because society is a failure, Joker only emphasizes he is correct, yet Batman doesn't get the joke. Maybe because Batman is the punchline...rimshot.
@shush99 жыл бұрын
I didn't forget them, just in joker topic mode, as in the words of hugo strange, Batman created all of his villains or rogues gallery.
@DeathBringer7699 жыл бұрын
Casey Metz That's a nice thought but a generalization that falls short of being accurate in certain specific examples. I'd say as a hero, Batman is, at least in part, defined by his villains. He's defined in opposition to them, no killing, no guns, all rooting back to that initial "villain" that killed his parents. His entire life became defined by that moment, defined in opposition to how that murderer lives his life and chooses to behave. He became the Batman who swears not to kill or use guns (generally).

@kevin_l_tran117 жыл бұрын
Given that he had under 10 minutes of screen time whereas Ledger had a whole movie and wasn't the main focus of the movie whereas Ledger was the main villain I don't think it's fair to judge. And as others have said, the choppy editing of his scenes and the writing didn't help him all that much either
@101919277 жыл бұрын
KevinAmbrose Suicide Squad had such bad editing, whoever did that needed to be fired. It removed any sort of tension or dramatic effect from a lot of the scenes. Case in point when they showed the scene of Joker about to torture Harley, in the trailer it was really dark and made the joker look threatening. In the movie, it was almost light hearted and non-threatening. Completely sucked out any potential the movie had.

@@EthanVillanueva I agree with you there, of course. However, that line from the 2002 *Spider-Man* film is actually “Let die the woman you love... or suffer the little children” - as I recall. And speaking of which, I also remember Green Goblin’s line of “Hello, my dear” to Mary Jane Watson, too.
@angel07p9 жыл бұрын
What is baffling (apart from Heath Ledger 's performance obviously) is the amount of care and talent thrown into this movie. Notice how Bale's voice shifts from Bruce Wayne to Batman's growl when the action kicks in ("He's come for him...Stay hidden"). It perfectly captures the psychology of a guy living two lives. Batman is not just a persona, it's a part of him that comes out naturally when danger arrives. All this subliminal information just from this little detail. God, I love this movie.
@americanslime10 жыл бұрын
As far as criticism of Bale's voice: well, yeah, it did get pretty comical at times, but he is a british guy doing a fake American accent doing a batman voice. Considering, he could've been worse. And there are a lot of books that describe batman as changing his voice drastically in costume. If you're going to nitpick about all the silly aspects of adapting the movie from a comic book, the batarangs and bat on his chest don't make much sense either. My main problem with this scene is Batman just leaves the ballroom with joker and a room full of people and the film just moves on like that's no big deal.
@virgiliacoriolanus509310 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure that his voice was computer manipulated, after filming. But don't quote me on that.
@Paperman400010 жыл бұрын

How the hell did Batman get so close to the Joker without anyone else noticing? That was so stupid...even if all the henchmen were focused only on the people, I bet there would have been atleast one stupid woman in the crowd who would have screamed at the sight of the Batman, even if he was far and given away his position. Obviously they only put him there so that he could say that punchline but It would have been more impressive if they had the Batman suddenly jump from the ceiling or smash in through the window.

Actually no, they wouldn't. Fit together. Ledgers joker just isn't romantic / the film is darker than suicide squad, it just wouldn't work very well
@carolledx69727 жыл бұрын
+Emanuel agree that Ledgers joker is too dark for suicide squad but comic joker also isnt romantic at all so if only ss makers had decided to keep j&h's relationship like it really was, it could have worked for me (i still dont get how ss could have made such a sweet couple of those two... ). Anyway, margot and ledger created characters which were incredibly similar to their comic ones so I'd love to see them as Harley and Joker in one movie (maybe some better than suicide squad) but with keeping their non-romantic dysfunctional relationship. Ledger would fit this well

Do you guys ever noticed that the Joker change his story on how he got the scars on his face?
@Codex-jp6hy9 жыл бұрын
Jacob S "Ever noticed"? That's one of the most important aspects of the character. The moment he changes the story is the moment we start realizing that we don't understand him. Until then we were a little more comfortable, because we knew he wanted to kill Batman for money and that he had a backstory. But as soon as he changes it, we are suddenly nervous and terrified by the fact that this man only plays with our preconceptions and expectations. His ideology of conflicting stories, contradictions and unpredictability starts building on itself with this scene.

No Nolan was just an asshole who wanted to make everything SUPER REALISTIC. I'll never understand this. Batman is a comic book character. Batman would have cleared that room and disarmed Joker without breaking a sweat. He didn't use his grappling gun, his smoke pellets or his batarangs.

Really don't know why he didn't just use his grappling hook which he uses for EVERYTHING ELSE. Instead he just....breaks the fall with his body. Nice. And here I thought Batman had no Superpowers. Yet he's obviously a rubber man who not only is able to survive a 60 story fall but also able to save another person falling from the same height by cushioning her fall with his rubber body. Which can only mean that Batman's secret identity is actually either Luffy from One Piece or Reed Richards from the Fantastic 4.
