Heath Ledger's Joker was truly on a whole other level. The character itself is such an immensely popular comic book character with so many interpretations over the years prior to Ledger's portrayal and there's a reason his version stands among the greatest. Mainly because Christopher Nolan and his team created this super anarchist killer clown with an powerful ability to practically figure out his opponents moves before they make them and Heath was able to bring that character to life in a way never seen. So when you watch the way he acts and talks and calculate his ever move there's a truly sinister reason. I can go on and on like every other fan on this comment section but you get the point. Let's hope Leto's portrayal will create its own persona the way Heath was able to and make Yet another amazing version of the Joker I can obsess over.
@kebabkev8 жыл бұрын
+Robert Mendez Nah man from what I can see the only actors to have ever embodied the Joker character was Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson. They WERE the Joker. Especially Heath, I mean it's harder to believe that behind the Joker is an actor instead of the opposite. I don't know about you but when I see others for example Jared Leto from all the Suicide Squad clips so far I can only feel that they're ACTING the character. Not saying Jared Leto is a bad actor at all, but I see most faults lie in the script, especially the dialogue. Props to Nolan for developing such an organic Joker.

+Robert Mendez I agree, but I think it is even better, it is not that everything Heath';s Ledge's Joker does everything for a reason. I think park of why he is so effective it that the reason the Joker does things, or his motives are not as important in this movie. This Joker is evil in the truest sense of the word. This is so different from Jack Nicholson's Joker. Nicholson's Joker was evil because of some sort of psychological condition. Heath's Joker, is evil in a more fundamental and disturbing way. Not because of mental disease, or background. He is simply evil, evil incarnate.

“You’re crazy.” Immediately followed by “I’m not. No I’m not.” It shows how offended he is by being called an idiot or freak as shiwn earlier in the scene and how it throws him off guard. He’s deluded himself to the point where he believes that he is the only one who can see clearly, so when people call him a freak, he is offended. The whole movie is him trying to prove that hems not alone, that he’s not a freak, and that everybody is just like him deep down. And he basically ends up proving that point with Harvey Dent. He wins. Masterfully written scene, probably the best in the movie.

@mrwhite17716 жыл бұрын

@romanski58116 жыл бұрын
That's why I hate the superman movies but I like what direction they took in Man of Steel.
@imaratspal6 жыл бұрын
I disagree wholeheartedly with that. The only reason this works as a "criminal thriller" is because it's a Batman movie and Batman is synonymous with the noir-esque style of storytelling in the comics as well. In essence, it is faithful to the comics but not exactly in terms of specific storylines and characterizations however, comics do have many different interpretations of the stories. This movie can pass as Batman comics brought to life. I mean, Christopher Nolan also made Man of Steel which, in my opinion, was not even close to the level of any of these movies because Superman is not meant to be told in that way. Superman is a hero for people to look up to; a sense of hope. Not as an enemy of the state or someone to fear. What you need to understand is that these stories are built upon many years of character building and trial-and-error to see what stuck and what didn't over time. That's why it's good to get the essence of the characters, tone, and stories, they don't have to be exact, when putting them on the big screen. The only exception to this is Iron Man because that series was actually in stagnation for a while and needed Robert Downey Jr. (not as much as he needed Iron Man to revive his career, though) to give it new life and a new interpretation of him that stands out.

It only makes sense he's not intimidated by those goons, he doesn't care for what they end up doing to him. Anthony Anderson He laughed like a madman when Batman beat him into a pulp during the interrogation scene because he knew it was driving Batman to the edge of madness. He wanted Batman to break his one rule, to prove that every man can descend into madness. He stopped laughing when he got caught by Batman during his fall; he would've laughed harder if Batman actually killed him. He *wanted* to be killed by Batman, it would've meant the Joker won.

Incredible acting, how offended he gets when anyone calls him a freak or crazy. I wonder why that bothers the Joker so much.
@a.m.arteaga83697 жыл бұрын
Lãng khách cô hành That still doesn't answer the lore question, though. Why does he feel so offended whenever he's called a freak/crazy? I guess that because Ledger's joker is a psycho, he just feels threatened whenever his intelligence is questioned. Psychos are like that, just look at Bundy. Preferred to die rather than be seen as crazy.
@Balmung357 жыл бұрын
I think you're right on the target. It's just Heath Ledger's own interpretation of the Joker. In a lot of depictions of the Joker he acknowledges himself as being crazy, but if you look deeper into it it's been guessed numerous times that the Joker isn't actually crazy, but rather too self-conscious of his own psychopathic mind and is simply simulating his so-called madness ; and I believe there is one instance where a character (in a comic book) calls him out on that which does get the Joker to stop laughing for a moment. I think Ledger's Joker being upset over being called crazy is really interesting and justified in a lot of ways, and that's also what's quite incredible about playing the Joker: you get to act as someone who is, perhaps, himself, acting.
@DarknessIsThePath7 жыл бұрын
Except he actually "endorses" being crazy in the movie as well. He says in he video tape "This is how crazy Batman's made Gotham" refering to himself the most. He also calls himself a freak together with Batman in the interrogation scene. I just think he doesn't like it when lesser criminals says that to him :P
@miklassic7 жыл бұрын
I've always thought that he was 100% sane and that's why he acts the way he does - he doesn't like the fact that nobody understands this. He sees it all. The hypocrisy, stupidity and bullshit. He's ahead of the curve. He never calls himself a freak - he says that's how people see him (same as Batman).
@RCAvhstape5 жыл бұрын
From the Joker's point of view he's the sanest man in the room, that's why. He's also usually the smartest, and sees Batman as his only mental peer.

This scene right here will become THE classic of Batman movies. This is what we old folks want to see. This is pure acting of the finest degree. The atmosphere, the tension, the actors, all of that created a theme that felt immersible and almost real. The 'super villain' status was achieved with grace and wittiness. This is what we miss in the modern Hollywood entertainment. We miss their acting. Many, of course enjoy special effects and CGI but everybody remembers for years a great acting, even for decades. Ledger left teaching us one of the finest lesson in current entertainment. He gave himself for that character so the story entertains generations to come. Thank you Heath Ledger. We will never be able to repay you what you gave.
