Addicted to tinkering? So am I and your videos are still helping to satisfy my needs quite nicely but without me having to leave my armchair. I always admire those Vespa units - neat, compact and effective - and yours went back together very nicely. Mine probably wouldn't (all thumbs....). The carb surgery should be interesting. Thanks again 👍

Thanks Keith, the Vespas are really interesting little engines as you say, clever, compact and pretty reliable. Carb will be along later as will a Vespa PX engine. Thanks again for watching!

I missed a step. How did you set the timing with the stator plate?
@oldnutsgarage2 жыл бұрын
Hi Eric, the case and the stator already had timing marks on them so they just went back as they came off. Thanks for watching!

Do you pressure test?
@oldnutsgarage3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I am not sure what you mean by pressure test? If squish, I did not as it is usually well on the safe side out of the box. If compression, then that should be absolutely fine as the barrel / piston / rings / cases were all good. Leak down test should not show any problems either as the seals are all new. I think the best thing will be to get it in the scooter and see how it starts / runs then address any further issues that may throw up.Thanks for watching!

@@oldnutsgarage Yeah. More like leak down. It’s worth doing I’ve noticed even with new gaskets. Exhaust flange always a bad spot too

OK, interesting about the exhaust flange, it looked fine but you never know. The engine is not here at the moment, it is with the scooter again awaiting fitment. If there are any issues I will try the leak down test first. Thanks for the info !
