Guess they didn't realize that the reason there were no falcon chicks in the nest...IS BECAUSE THE FALCONS THE RESCUED WERE THE CHICKS! They didn't have Frank and Judy, but their kids! The babies were fledglings and learning to fly. If I remember correctly, ADULT peregrine falcons are more "stormy" in color, with cool greys and blacks. Youngsters liek the ones shown are more brown in color.

I REALLY think you're right & the other one that was flying when they took them back home was their mom or dad.
@birdsandscience8387 Жыл бұрын
You are 100% right! The cere (skin around the beak) of an adult peregrine is bright yellow and is blue gray on juvenile birds, part of why he probably thought it looked sick. The plumage colour is also quite different, white-grey with black bars on the adult chest where the younger birds have a more speckled light brown and black colour, and the adults have a more slate grey back. And he was so comfortable with being fed. These birds are fledglings, so glad they got help. Such cool birds, the most widespread raptors in the world!!

Causing an imbalance in the ecosystem with invasive species puts local wildlife at risk. It's the same reason they used bioweapons against rabbits in Australia.

@@MousesHouses, yes, rather famously so. One of the reasons DDT was banned as a pesticide in the US in the 70s was because it was affecting Peregrine Falcon eggs.

If the birds are catching and eating poisoned pigeons, the likelihood of the chicks being fed poisoned nest is very high and the chance of their survival is very low.

Who's gonna tell Bondi Vet that they helped the fledglings (juvenile plumage not adult) instead of the parents, hence why the youngsters were taking to hand feeding eagerly, yelling when not getting food, not ripping apart the vets and the birds swooping them on the building were the parents? 'Frank and Judy' weren't soaring too well because they don't know how to yet but they certainly got the knack of it with practice.🤣🤣 Yours truly, +30 years of bird handling.
