Dr. Matt and Dr. Karri talked about the journey & challenges of using social media, however, they left out one thing they would never say. To be successful, you have to have a personality that comes through on video. Not everyone can do that, but Dr. Matt and Dr. Karri are adorable on film. I've seen other videos from Drs. doing surgery on pets & I nearly fell asleep. Dr. Matt and his Vet pals bring awesome personalities to their videos, in addition to helping the most vulnerable. That's why I watch and share.

I have seen vets that could be painting a fence for all the concern shown the sick or hurt poor baby. These two are really dedicated animal lovers and it shows.

Honestly, even if people get grossed out about surgeries, there's no need to flag the freaking video. They put a lot of effort into making these videos and it can take months just to produce one, so all that work would be going to waste.

I had 3 surgeries in my life. 2 were ingrown toenails, the last was an abses on my bodacious gluteus maximus. I watched the first two and was pissed at the doctor because he wanted to put me to sleep for the third :p

What really knocks me out is the way use of the Internet reaches so many people: some viewers want to donate to Vet Ranch. Some viewers want to adopt the animals who are rescued and helped. Some in fact are so moved by what they see, they decide on veterinary school - after seeing firsthand, what the work is about, and how well Dr. Matt and Dr. Karri do what they do. I often get annoyed at 'electronic intrusion' in our lives. But this is such a positive way to use the Net, and I am all for it. Thanks again to all who watch, all who care, all who sponsor. We have two rescue cats and a dog (tho' not from Vet Ranch), but Ric and I support VR's efforts,..just because.!Meow and woof from NYC!

It's the animals that actually inspire me to stay positive. There is always more than one perspective to life and they really get that through with the energy they have. It's wonderful. All those Vet students are so lucky 1. They met the Vet Ranch guys 2. They can afford to go to college to become a veterinarian. I seriously want to become a veterinarian, ever since I was little but I can't afford to go to college to become a veterinarian so I'm going as a vet tech or an animal cop and then one day hopefully I'll have enough money to go to college to become a veterinarian!

Jackie Gonzalez There are student loans available. Of course you will have to pay them off when you finish school but there are funds out there. I wish everyone who wanted a college degree was offered one just like our public education in grades K-12. It would go such a long way to help those not blessed with family money make a good life for themselves and would help our country also. If I were rich I would focus on helping people go to college and helping homeless animals. I do what I can for the later already.

I had probably watched about 25-30 videos before Dr Karri said and did something that made me realize 2 things: 1) she is in her own clinic w/her spouse [a vet] apart from Dr Matt, and 2) she's not an animal ortho surgeon-- I always thought she was doing all that ORIF/CRIF surgery until she finally showed/introduced two different surgeons. This is a great channel to watch and donate to. Dr Karri really has a loving touch w/these animals so it's always exciting to see how much change she exerts by the end of the videos and same for the other hard working vets of Vet Ranch.

I watch this video, and others from Vet Ranch, and I wish I could go back in time and go to Vet school. But instead, I'm stuck in a cubicle working for a company that really doesn't care about me. I'd cut my salary in half if I could have a job where it felt like I was giving back, especially to animals who need help. A lot of excellent people in that room. I have never trusted my furbabies to anyone other than Aggie Vets. They all seem to care so much about their patients. My dog had to have each of her knees repaired at the A&M Vet school about a year apart (luckily I only lived about 30 miles from B/CS) and they were so kind. The receptionist during the first one was remarkably friendly and kind. So much so that I wrote a letter to her and whomever would have been over her. I'll never forget the care that they took of all of us. Dr. Matt and Dr. Karri make you feel like they really can "Fix 'em all".

The value and joy of companion animals is simply beyond price. Sometimes, in ways we don't even consider, going in. Example: Those who know our family well are aware we are home caring our 94 year old mom with mixed dementia. And her best nurse? Moonie, a four year old Cairn terrier rescue mix, who we got from a group called AMSTERDOGS, here in NY. Moonie is loyal, smart, playful, never gets under mom's feet to trip her up, yet also never leaves her side. You couldn't ask for a better nurse. Moreover, Moon-Man seems to sense that mom is not quite all there, and allows for that, and is a great comfort to her. Also surpasses those electronic beeper cuffs, which mom does not need..thanks to Moonie, who always knows just where she is going and stays on her trail!!

That was fun to watch, the students seemed to love it. You probably have a few future Vet Ranch vets right there in the classroom. You guys do so much more than present hard luck cases. You show the story of caring for the well being of vulnerable souls and the profound worth of animal lives. Great lessons for kids and adults. I think the reason that Kerri's video captured the hearts of so many people is because you can see her passion for that animal etched all over her face and in her eyes. In every video the care you guys display is very touching. I always think that it is such a shame more people can't be as compassionate to each other and as humane towards animals as you guys are.

I think it would be cool if you guys set up some type of video submission that allowed people who adopted pets to show an update 6 months later or a year or whatever. It would be neat to see the final destinations of at least some of the animals. Keep up the great work.

+Jake C I think with 2 channels, a business, an organization that needs to also be run as a business, and a young family, they do plenty already. Either way, it would be up to the new pet owners to make their own video, so I think the simplest solution is to upload their own work to KZbin and ask Vet Ranch to link to it. It would be nice to have updates showcased on Vet Ranch's channel, though. More revenue to help further.

If the new owners just submitted there video to Vet Ranch they could upload it on there channel with minimal effort/editing and at the same time make ad revenue and get publicity off of videos they didn't have to spend time making. Not only does it further the channel it helps more animals get the help they need which is the whole point of all of this.

Jake C I'm not disagreeing, but the average person is likely unable to/or possesses the knowledge and equipment to make and edit reasonable videos, especially if it's their first time. I just can't envisage many being capable of making much beyond shakey phone or lengthy, poorly cut footage. Plus, the Vet Ranch intro and outro would need to be added as minimum. Meredith already fully edits Karri's videos as is. Of course, in a perfect world, I'd be completely wrong.

+AusiKifaru27 I would agree. I've been trying to figure it out for a month and I own a nice camera, this computer and video editing software. I feel like I'm going in circles. Hopefully I will have my first video on KZbin by April. It will be about five minutes long. I have a whole notebook of story boards and a folder with hundreds of images, titles etc. And not ten seconds of footage yet. now I understand why when you watch a two hour movie at the end you see ten minutes worth of credits. It takes a whole lot of work and I agree that the average person would find it challenging at best. I'm amazed that Vet Ranch and Demo Ranch put out as many as they do.

+nunya biznez Yep, know the feeling. There's only so much you can do with Windows Movie Maker, but the transition to Adobe Premiere is daunting and I've left a lot on the cutting room floor. I've spent 2 decades with Photoshop and don't know how to use 90% of it, but can still make the art I require. Not so with Premiere. You really need to use it often to get the best out of it and I don't make enough videos to keep what I've learned in memory. I wish you more success than I've had :-)

Some Vet Emergency/Super-Care hospital in Dalls saved my dog's life in May of 2012. If anyone associated with this channel or this Vet School work at that hospital, thank you very much. I was travelling across country and had an accident. I had to leave my dog at the hospital and travel back to Florida. Then return to Dallas to pick her up 2 weeks later. I was so happy she lived.

This was a good show, because you might inspire future Vets to develop similar non-profit ideas. It doesn't matter if it's a critical life saving procedure or a nasty case of mange, these animals start out miserable. Then their body's mend (even with a amputation). But my favorite part is how their mind and personality heal, become energetic & happy, that's what Vet Ranch means to me!
