In every video I see the animals, at the end, are very happy and active. I have a cat we recued from the streets when she was a month old. She was pretty much covered in ticks, and quite scared. I took her to the vet, took care of her and right now, 6 years later, we are inseparable, and if I ever feel bad or yell when I get hurt, she comes to see if I'm okay. I don't care what people say, animals are very, very thankful when you help them. And they make sure to show you. Thank Godness there are people like you in the world. Thanks for what you do.

I got a puppy in Mexico in the evening. He had parvo and I was going to take him to the vet the next day but he died overnight. Can you just inject saline under their skin? Will that help? I could take a kit next time.
@swapode5 жыл бұрын
@@mark2073 I don't think that saline under the skin has any use other than to flush wounds, you'd probably have to hit a vein. I'm not a vet but I think a dextrose solution might be a better idea.

@@swapode, just FYI, you can do subcutaneous fluids to help kidney function. They use D5W, so you're right about that. IV fluid boluses in a cat with suboptimal renal function can lead to flash pulmonary edema which is life threatening. I don't know about dehydration in dogs, but subcutaneous fluids are definitely a thing. I had two cats that lasted much longer with renal failure using it. One of them would come to me and settle into my lap to let me know he needed some fluid once he figured out how much better it made him feel!

My buddy owns a pug named Taco. Earlier on in his life, his entire litter was left out in the sun, and he was the only puppy to survive, albeit with permanent neurological damage that causes seizures (although he is medicated to prevent them). He then developed parvo before he was old enough to be vaccinated. Astonishingly, he made it through and is now five years old and going strong!

I rescued a stray kitten (maybe 3 months old) that began to show signs of feline panleukopenia (which is essentially very similar to PARVO) a few days after rescuing him. I took him to the vet but his condition deteriorated VERY quickly. He went from eating well and being playful to nearly dead in one day. Even after treatment began he was only getting worse. He laid all day barely breathing not being able to lift his tail or head off the ground. He would vomit and defecate large pools of blood and refused to eat or drink anything. I really didn't think he was going to make it. I was seriously heart broken that my new little pal was not going to live. Determined to save his life, though, I kept feeding him with a syringe and continued to take him to the vet for daily fluids and antibiotics (since his immune system was completely shot). It was very expensive and even more tedious to try to keep him alive. After a week and a half he lifted his head for the first time since he had been sick. I would put vitamin paste on my finger and he would lick it off on his own. After another day he would try to sit up and call for attention. I was ECSTATIC that he was finally getting better. Another day later and he was getting up and walking around. He was starting to eat completely on his own. It was a tough and expensive journey, but my little Artimis now a happy, healthy 1 1/2 year old cat. I

I had two puppies who contracted parvo two months ago, just before their vaccines were due. Due to the lack of proper veterinary centers, my parents and I took turns feeding them electrolytes orally every half an hour with a syringe, even at night, gave them their meds and cleaned them up whenever the diarrhea hit even though we were unable to find a vet to hook them up to the IV we knew they needed. They lasted two and four days respectively with the disease before we lost them. I am really happy little Tater made it- thanks for giving saving this baby and so many others, Vet Ranch.

Swet Chouette years ago I used to take my dogs to an old vet who graduated in the late 30's. He said to give buttermilk, 1/4 cup several times a day. It smothers viruses, corrects bacteria in the bowels and soothes the irritated lining of stomach/colon. So ever since if my dogs and kids have gotten sick with anything that messes with their stomach/bowels I give them buttermilk. Sometimes yogurt. It's awesome. I've had it stop stomach virus within an hour if you can keep it down. It's turned diarrhea into regular bowel movements. The old man knew what he was talking about.
@reneenank70489 жыл бұрын
+Swet Chouette They need antibiotics too, without vet care most dogs wont survive. It is a very painful and horrible disease. Do not let any puppies under 4 months that havent had full series of vaccinations anywhere outside of your back yard, never around other dogs or in public. Parvo can live outside the body for months. YOu shoudlnt bring puppies into your yard or home.
@reneenank70489 жыл бұрын
+Granny LaLa But not all viruses live in the gut... so it cant smother viruses in the respiratory system I dont think... Vaccinations work.
@GrannyLaLa049 жыл бұрын
Renee Nank No, they don't. I'm talking about the ones that do. And I've been doing this for 46 years and have saved many a dog with antibiotics that you can get at Tractor Supply for animals along with a good dose of buttermilk. And given it to animals with bloody diarrhea. Unfortunately I have dog dumped where I live out in the country that don't have vaccinations before they find their way to my house and I can't afford a vet bill for all. I had one pup that I did manage to get to the vet and he was on fluids. They had him a couple of days and couldn't get him to eat. He had Parvo. I brought buttermilk and syringed it down him. I called back later and he was doing better, starting to eat. It was in a medical magazine that they've found that probiotics "smother" viruses. The buttermilk and yogurt soothe the lining of the stomach and intestine.

@@e.s.r5809 That is an assumption we humans come to, to make ourselves feel better. We don't know what the animal is experiencing when they are put down. It is a vile disgusting practise and I will not donate my time or money to shelters who euthanise animals because of lack of room or because they don't want to spend the money on medical care.
@e.s.r58095 жыл бұрын
@@ukmedicfrcs OK mate. I'm sure they'd rather die slowly and painfully of cancer on the street, or starving in the freezing cold. What an assumption to make. Just because humans like to be fed and warm and lying on something soft. I don't think you understand how medicine or biology work. You realise that not everything is curable, yes? Sometimes animals just die even if you try to help them? Even if you did everything you could? And that sometimes, medical intervention is hopeless and would only draw out their suffering? And you recognise that shelters don't have infinite staff or space? In fact, they usually have very limited resources? And that people who volunteer in shelters, because most of them are volunteering, generally love animals very much-- but have to face the cruel reality that by spending a great deal of resources on one animal with complex problems, they doom to death many other animals without those problems who could have been saved? This is... this is really basic maths kind of stuff. What, you think shelters are omnipotent and just choose to euthanise animals because they can't be bothered to use their vast powers and resources to help them? Except PETA, they actually do that, fuck those guys.

Thank you so much for this video, forcing a sugar solution to get an animal to perk up was the best idea. I found my hamster lying curled up like she was dead, we got her on a hot water bottle and fed her sugar solution until she woke up and warmed up. Thank you so much for your video, you saved another tiny life today ❤️

Alexis Ramos you cant die for a split second, that implies all brain activity stopping, plus every organ shutting down
@o4r7629 жыл бұрын
+superskiier50 I even felt his heart slowly stopping. He went into a hypoglycemic shock. He woke up 2 days later and he suffered brain damage today and he is 1 1/2 years old. He was dead and they gave him a shy straight away after he got to the ER but he was asleep .

About 2 years ago my parents brought a puppy home and about a day later we found out she had parvo and it was the saddest thing i've ever seen happen to an animal. She was literally dying right in front of us but she was saved by our local vet thankfully and is now the happiest dog and we all love her so much. If you can treat it fast enough any puppy can be saved from parvo and I'm so happy to see this video because we didn't give up on our dog and neither did they.

I know that that is not the point of these videos, but I have to say someone in your team has very good taste in music. I just found your channel randomly a couple hours ago and just from watching like ten videos I've found lots of new music I like, and I was in a "musical dry-spell" and longing for something new, so I'd like to thank you guys for that. And also offcourse for the great work you do. Once I am done with my studies and have a bit more money to spend I sure as heck will be donating to your cause. Lots of love from Norway :)

Even with this little dog..a caring touch of a woman can do wonders to a sick individual. Man or beast. That is something a man can never produce. Well done Dr.Kerri & Vet Ranch.
