Saddest thing I ever saw as a military wife next to friends not coming home was a LCpl standing there after the buses left with flowers in hand and his wife never showed up. PTSD with alcoholism and domestic violence destroyed my family. We had to leave. But I'm so grateful for music that shows the painful. If this song triggers your need to drink, please talk to someone. Much love from East Texas.

Thank you for such a real and raw reaction. When we married, my husband was in the navy. He was gone 6, 9...however many months before coming back home. It was hard...on both, and eventually all of us, but we survived, knowing he would eventually be back. We married in 1982. He died in 2014. I will forever be his bride. No one and nothing could ever come between my finger and that ring. He may be gone, but I am still here as Mrs Bruce Barnes.

my husband was in the army and his ex wife did this to him he came home to find a man living in his house around his kids he got in trouble when he beat the guy up but he moved to the single soldier housing then ended up moving in with his best friend that was in the army too he started drinking to this day he says that me coming into his life saved him and im glad it did. 16 years later and he is still the best husband in the world

There are several times that Brad uses a rather unique turn of phrase to get his point across. The first line, for instance. I almost agree with the saddest song but a competitive song/video is "Stay by Sugarland". True story, unique point of view

I've watched this at least 50 times & my eyes "leaked" every time! Brad & Allison are amazing but Ricky Schroeder is amazing & those are his kids in the video! It's so sad but so beautiful! I absolutely love your reaction & comments! My husband was a Vietnam Marine sniper first then a squad leader & had 3 weeks before he was supposed to rotate back to the states when his mom died. Took 3 days & 3 choppers to get him out for her funeral (1st was shot down, the 2nd fell with him in it with dead Marines)! I'm not going into all the rest on this public forum but he was the picture of health physically but died at 55. Thank you, Tom, for your service!!!😊

This video is always hard for to me watch, but I think watching you react to it hits me harder than the actual video. I'm so sorry you went through events that made this video even more emotional. Thank you for serving this country, protecting us and dealing with all of the emotions and mental health issues that can come along with that. And I'm sure seeing one of your demons played out here was tremendously difficult. Good for you in gaining sobriety! So difficult. Also, thank you for not deciding to withhold this video. Your real, honest emotional reactions show your vulnerability, but they also underscore the message of the video with the reality of how one person's actions can have consequences for others. I'm incredibly impressed that as much as you hate what the female character did, you could still find it in you to care what happened to her and even understand her guilt. Sometimes good people make really, really bad decisions. Such complex emotions in this one! Hang in there and keep doing what you're doing to stay emotionally healthy! ❤

As a veteran myself this song hits hard! I have lived this song step by step except the final step. I was damn close, because I had nothing left. (the graphic version) I vomited blood for 3 straight days. I drank my breakfast, lunch and dinner. They had to repeatedly pump my stomach which I found out about later, I woke up 3 days afterward on a morphine drip in a hospital 50 miles from home and had no idea how I got there. The doctor told me that if I kept drinking the way I was I might have a month maybe 2. I laughed at him and said good almost there. Now for 20+ years I have had to live with nightmares, cold sweats, PTSD, flashbacks, depression, anxiety, tremors where I can't even write on a piece of paper, 3 herniated discs in my lower back, and I live and pills morning noon and night! yep much better! 😔😔😔😔

If you are sincere in your reaction to this song, then it is a truly great song that can have that effect on someone who it was not written for. Brad Paisley and Allison Krauss were absolutely the best combination for this. I was not in the military, however, I was a raised up as a military dependent until I was out of high school. My father was in Viet Nam and all went well for our family during the year he was there. I can clearly see this kind of thing happening and as you said, it did. I can't imagine how anyone could deal with coming home to that knowing that he was thinking of her every minute he was away from her and that was what kept him going while he was away, then come home to that? That would certainly be a death blow mentally to anyone in this situation. Thanks for your service to our country, watch the video and remember what alcohol can do since you indicated you have a problem with it. Hopefully it will help you see that it doesn't fix anything.

Life is so hard, we look to the one we love as the safe haven to depend on. When we are betrayed in that way, sometimes there's no coming back from that heartbreak. And drinking himself to death, as extreme as that is, if you've ever truly given your heart to someone, I can honestly understand it.

Reason this song is one people request to react to is cause it is a emotional Rollercoaster an those that know want to see how others will react. Country folk. We (well i) heard the song before the video. Brad has some tunes that would never make country standard now lol. Brad Paisley Alcohol, well I'm gonna miss her, ticks, I'm still a guy. This happened often to couples when I was in the Navy. The husband or wife would cheat during deployment, they find out from someone else what is happening, and then they have a very messy break up. It is so common in all branches of military. Loyalty is hard to come by. Especially this day and age.

This song always gets to me. We were stationed at Ft. Stewart when Desert Shield began. All the troops on the base was sent over because they were desert trained. We lived in a really large trailer park with mostly military families. The week after a neighbor's husband was sent over, she had various men staying over. She wasn't the only spouse doing this. I was done trying to "play nice" with them. I stopped going over for cookouts or even their phone calls. I packed up our two toddlers and moved back home to NC until my husband came home. This happens all too often.
