I love mine. You must be careful, but I think it's much safer and more comfortable than a ladder. I also figured out you can flip the forks and get much higher up. Plenty of room to keep the tools you need to do the job. I rarely use a ladder anymore.

I took one of my Ibc tote cages and use for same thing. I ratchet strap it to the fork frame. Works great and already have a bunch of them. I even made a basket to hang over side for tools. Have a great Holiday weekend Brock 👍🇺🇸

I have the same lift. I found the floor flimsy . I welded a cross brace under the floor. Redid some of the welds that did not look good. Painted it Kubota orange to match my tractor. Find it does what I need to do. Good works tractor did a video on this one and totally destroyed it. I found with my extra to it will do the job. The price was right.

For a little added stability, you could install the backhoe and use the outriggers before lifting. That looks like a great tool to add to the equipment shed. I also like how quickly it sets up or folds down to make it easier to store and use.

I have and like that one also. I do use it “backwards “ when working right on the front of edge. It feels safer than the chains. I put a ratchet strap around the base to the forks to hold it more solid also. Love the channel. Thank you for all your hard work putting these out.

I bought one of these and i was impressed with the build quality. I worked for a power company for decades and we had and used cages like these for years and the build quality was every bit as good ( or better) as the ones we used at work. I was planning to build one for working on my property when i saw these for sale and took a chance on buying it. When it arrived i was surprised how well it was built, it was built every bit as well as the ones i used for years at work. It would have cost me half again as much just for the materials to build one. The one i bought also came with casters which makes it great to move around when not using it .

I think you did a good job explaining the potential uses and inherent risk with the basket. One other helpful add would be the fact you have a self leveling loader which removes a ton of risk when raising and lowering the basket. Folks with a traditional loader need to be a lot more careful, small inputs/corrections/adjustments as you go up and down.

Hey Brock, get some thick mesh rubber matting & cut to size for the floor. Water, leaves, twigs etc. make for some unsure footing & still folds up without removing!

That's a handy and safe attachment for working above the ground. Ladders have too much flex for my comfort as I go up and down on them. I worked in a bucket truck for many years. They have remote controls in the bucket that allows the operator (me) to positon the bucket from the bucket. Included an emergency letdown in case the engine driven hydraulic pump quits. I would think I'd like a "bleeder valve" that would allows me to slowly let the basket down in case the engine on the tractor quits. Otherwise, you'd need someone close by to take care of any issues.

I got a new job at a produce packing plant. One of my first tasks was cleaning the air dryer for the compressed air all the machines needed. It was mounted 12 ft up on a wall. Nothing was done safely in that place, I stood on a pallet and a forklift lifted me up. The guy on the forklift just sat in the seat waiting for me to tell him when to let me down. He was fiddling with direction lever and put it into reverse moving back about a foot. I didn't hit the floor but it felt like my heart did. Why yes, he did get cussed out. My supervisor/coworker decided we needed something safe. He took a new 4x4 wooden bin box and we cut a door in it and put a self on the back. The boss was not happy with that but after my coworker told him how unsafe using a pallet was and how much a proper safety cage cost he cooled down. We used that box for the 10 years I worked there.

A way to mitigate the risk of a hydraulic failure is to cut some angle iron at different lengths and use the appropriate one on the FEL's ram to prevent it from closing if pressure is lost. I cut a pair to use when I have the FEL at full height for working on the engine or cleaning the radiators. Makes an accident way less likely. Take care and God Bless.

That’s a nice option at a reasonable price. Scaffolding is more expensive than that option and scaffolding is more difficult and time consuming to move around.

Got a good laugh out of your confusion lol. I just don’t know hou comfortable id be getting out of tractor for manual lockout, thought thats more for maintenance. If a 3rd person was there to do it maybe, i just think operator should be in seat for positive control of the cab and they eyes around it. Also thinking what would happen if person in man basket needed to come down quickly. Do agree its your safest route. Good video safety is always important people die everyday from worksite accidents.

I bought a lifting basket like this from titan attachments the one that I bought bolts together and has a locking front door it has pins to lock the basket once its on the forks so it doesn't slide off the only down side to the one I have is it isn't collapsible for storage but it has been a lifesaver for some of the projects as simple as cleaning gutters or to try to hang something heavy and Acquard to hold it definitely beats a ladder

I have the same safety cage and use it all the time for things like cleaning gutters. Good Works Tractor channel has a video where they purposely destroy one trying to make it look dangerous but they actually had to work at it to break it. That video and the one where he completely filled a Diamond C dump trailer and then bashed the company because it wouldn't dump was the reason I unsubscribed. Some people don't understand that things have a intended purpose.

I made my own by using a heavy oak pallet that I put one inch plywood over then i took a water tote frame and screwed it on the platform. Cut out an opening and then put safty chains across the front and safty chains to attach it to the frame of the forks. Works great and much more sturdy than these... Bill Hensley...

I went the REALLY cheap route (like FREE!) and use the cage from an IBC tote; I call it my "man cage" - lol! If I did buy one, though, yours seems like a nice unit at a very fair price. My question to you, Brock, is how you get your cage to go so straight up and down, essentially curling in perfect sync with the height adjustment? Maybe your JD model just does that, whereas my 3038e doesn't?
