To be fair, being overdesigned kinda makes sense for Little Horus. Unlike Abaddon, who blindly followed Horus into everything, Aximand felt a lot of guilt and despair over his betrayal, and the fate of the Mournival constantly haunted him. Having so many symbols of his Primarch on his armour suits this kind of anxiety and doubts, the character trying to convince the world and himself that he's fully onboard the Heresy train when he's not really. No excuse for the posing though, that's just really lazy.

I can think of at least two occasions off the top of my head where Aximand uses a sword/shield in his POV. Little Horus. And the boarding action in The Vengeful Spirit. I'm not aware that he has many other POVs besides those, before he gets thrown out in the bathwater with all the rest of the interesting Sons of Horus characters, in first seige of terra book.

I think the part that looks the worse her is the shield. It doesn't look like a 30k piece of gear at all. It almost looks like some AoS, or even Lord of the Ring thing.

The Sons of Horus and especially the Little Horus I got an impression of was the type who would prefer a two handed sword or axe over a shield. The Sons of Horus' whole schtick (aside from worshipping their daddy) was their role as shock assault

You are totally off, he has a shield in "Little Horus", pretty sure he has one in "Vengeful Spirit" also.. You are right about the model though, its complete shit in almost every way. Shame as some have been waiting for an Aximand model since the start. Looks like I will have to make my own out of printed parts.

I can forgive the gaudiness of the model. SoH are a gang culture and bling is definitely a factor. I think the shield is completely unnecessary, not authentic to the character and the pose doesn't do him any favors. I do like his face, though.

I remember wanting more SOH due to the setting importance; but now it's shattered legions/Imperium Secundus time for characters, even ones more popular than played like Nasir Amit, hell really good time given designs for Dantioch with conversion potential. The same head plugs and face scar is a nice touch and I'm usually a helmet guy

The pose reminds me of the dark angel cpt/praetor with shield(not sure was it an actual model that got discontinued or a conversion of one) that had exact same pose. Iirc, there's an artwork, actually 2, of him post-chogorian shave that show either the sword or his bolter, no shield there at all. As for the multiple legion icons, I found(both for 40k and something I put together for myself) that 2 are more than enough(1 on shoulder, one on either chest or belt buckle/1 knee-pad) for putting on armor. You can get away with an extra on gun/melee weapon/shield. 9 of icons is indeed excessive. Edit to add: on second look, both the chestplate and filigree decoration show promise(remodel cables into tank-tracks and redo the symbol into fanged maw with pointy dog ears for one bit, and use filigree to model sea waves as decoration instead for another).

I saw the helmet and thought ‘oh, another one’ but the tusks were cool. Then I saw the title said it was meant to be Aximand and I had flashbacks to Zephon. Why can’t they just do good, book accurate, heros like the old line if hh characters, and keep these ‘rule of cool’ characters for unnamed releases?! It’s not rocket science to have these models and not piss off part of the community!

I really liked Tybalt Marr, actually. I think he has a lot of conversion potential. I personally plan to convert one into an Ultramarine chaplain. He'd make a good herald too, especially for something like EC. This guy is a big step down. For me he's just "eh, whatever". I don't have any strong feelings about him either way. I like the little proto-chaos tusks and spikes, but that's about it.

What a shame, the only real part I like of this model is the bare head. I will probably buy this model to use for future conversions and more than likely use the head and kitbash it on too the new Tybalt Marr miniature, I love little Horus but this model sucks. Again some decent parts but when it’s all mashed together it looks like a cluttered mess. Luckily most of the heresy community is used to kitbashing by this point.

I think it’s a great model, and I’ll buy it when available. The rules are a bit boring, but the model is great. Only the eyes are perhaps set a bit too far apart in the helmet. WH is a tongue in cheek franchise so bitching about something like overt detailing is a bit weird. The pose is similar to Ashurhaddon and DA praetor, but there’s only so many poses, so whatever… No conversion potential? Use some other model.

Horrendous take from you (not uncommon of you), the horus aximand model represents the art of horus heresy amazingly. The shield make sense as well as he uses his combat shield multiple times in the book series (battle of dwell) and his shield is ceremonial, but to call him a bad figure is not true and just your opinion.
