In the ninth episode of our second season of VICE on HBO, Shane Smith heads to Louisiana to report on the lasting effects of the BP oil spill. Then, VICE investigates why Yemen is at the top of the worry list for President Obama's national security team. The rise of Al Qaeda there is only half the reason-the real trouble is a little-known Houthi rebel movement in the north of the country.

I was wondering why that huge crowd of people was smiling... Then I realized that they were caught up in the energy of each other, chanting something they truly believed in, something they had longed night and day for, feeling the power of the giant crowd around them, thinking 'It will happen, we are strong'. This scares the shit out of me. If only there was a way to communicate to others without hate rising up as a barrier. It's not their fault that they think that way, but the effects are terrible. They were taught to hate, trained to hate by others taught the same way, by what others yell and chant and whisper and scream... It is branded into them, and becomes a part of these people's personal identities.

Man, what the fuck. How can humans be so stupid. As humans are the smartest, and most intelligent organism to ever grace this planet, why is this happening? Do we not understand that this is the only planet we will ever be able to call home? How can this exist? I am baffled. Instead of looking for other planets to sustain all walks of life, we need to figure out how the fuck we utilize the only one we have. My frustrations root from the fact that humans are capable of so much good, but choose to do so much bad. The thing is that nobody HAS to go hungry, nobody HAS to be homeless, nobody HAS to be without water. It is possible. We are so close, yet so far. Only time will tell.

you know what sickens me most is that oil companies think profits are bigger than human health and safety, and when they have a spill they do the usual telling lies to the American public and refusing to take responsibility for the environmental damage to fishing, and not helping the public with some of their health issues EVEN AFTER THEY FUCKING HELPED YOU CLEAN UP YOUR FUCKING MESS WHILE UNKNOWINGLY RISKING THEIR OWN HEALTH AND SAFETY.

***** Good information, i see 2 things wrong with the tests, the samples were given bubbles instead of having them sealed. The more you agitate a sample with bubbles or anything it will lose toxicity...anyone with half a brain knows that in the oilpatch. Secondly, they did the tests on nothing resembling human skin like a pig/rabbit (I think that is the 2 animals that companies destroy to show results).

How many Muslim countries in our World are living in peace and tolerance today? This is a serious question, because it seems like every Muslim country is at constant war or at least tension. Majority of population of these countries are heavily into Islam and hating on other religions and people/nation. Is there at least one first world level Muslim country?
@haziqzainal7560
@haziqzainal7560 9 жыл бұрын
The fact that you're asking this question only shows how you are only being influenced by the mainstream media. Not all Muslim lives in the middle east. They make up of 23% of the world's population. Even China has a lot of Muslims. You know there are tension, you need to ask why there are tension. Most media don't show why, VICE shows you hands on what's actually happening. Relate that to history and then make your own conclusion.

I have one question I haven't gotten or found an answer to. Why is the oil so bad didn't it come from the ground in the ocean. It's a natural substance. Like a wild fire before human intervention it burned until it stopped life didn't cease. If an earthquake happens in the ocean and cracks the ground over an oil reserve would it not leak until it couldn't?

Such a shame, making worse damage to the environment to avoid facing consequences. The BP spill was an accident, we get it, yet BP has a responsibility as well as the US who accepted that drill hole. Because BP answers a need : the US and world economy still depend on oil, so both must pay.

It's super sad, why doesn't Vice do a series on the big players and government in the game? A lot of these big disasters seem to be on purpose because they can get money through other roots of the system. Like health and treatments cost, that thousands of people will have to go through. It just seems like when the big guys fuck up on a deal they use events like this to pay back debts from bad deals or maybe just for kicks and giggles. (just saying)
