I don't live in the US and never heard about this. It's so interesting. People where I live don't understand satire. I used to teach a critical thinking and writing class where I used some famous satire like Swift and Twain. I thought it's just the time periods of the pieces. It was a Catholic junior college, so I used an essay called "All Seven Deadly Sins Committed at Church Bake Sale" by the Onion. I had to read it out loud to them. The US evangelical churches have moved in and taken advantage of people believing anything. Even though I live in Central America, the US conspiracy theories take hold here very quickly. I love seeing these young people doing this thinking performance satire. It's inspiring to know not all young people follow anything available. Kudos to the movement and to Vice for providing such interesting documentaries.

I watched 2 hawks from my 16th floor smoking deck, one looked kinda fake. No joke, it lost power mid air and started spiraling, the real hawk docked the drone and they spiraled down together, I’m assuming to the ground? Or maybe it was an accelerated charge and they took flight before hitting the streets, lol. I’ve seen an old video for a remote controlled TROUT drone the CIA or FBI used to spy on a suspect in the 70s, and have read about giant cats in San Francisco late 1800s/early 1900s that used to hang out on the trolley tracks even tho they’d be getting mildly electrocuted, nobody could figure it out but it’s no mystery to me those cats were charging themselves, lol

Yeah but the difference is the crazy things that some Americans believe are things that are spread and facilitated by political-oriented groups of all sizes, including Governmental entities , both foreign and domestic, including Russia, China, and Iran to name a main few. Governmental entities like the 'Internet Research Agency' and '50 Cent Army' who hire people to pose as Americans or otherwise and troll online, sowing seeds of deceit; like the past two presidential elections for example. Russia used millions of fake facebook and twitter accounts and used misinformation to confuse American voters using something called 'outrage tactics', and I'm not referring to the collusion/Mueller report. Trump would not even need to ask Putin for help to win the election because naturally it's in Putin's best interests if the President of the US is Republican/Conservative because their core values are more aligned than that of the alternative party. Regardless of your political standings, this is well documented and easily accessed on government websites with official documents from congress, all public record. Anyway, modern wars are becoming more about technology than anything else. I realize I risk sounding like a nut to some people at this point and that's ok; But I don't believe that Russia's involvement in foreign politics and the Ukraine invasion as well as many other recent events are isolated events or coincidences. I'd say we're already at war on the cyber front with misinformation being a soldier's ammunition, and that Russia's recent invasion into Ukraine is really just an excuse and means to probe at the US' military tech arsenal (without actually having to declare war against the US itself), like the Javelin's (anti-tank weapons) we've recently given to Ukraine in order to protect themselves from Russia's well known Tank arsenal. By the way, the IDEA of the Javelins was conceived during the Cold War. If I've piqued any reader's interest, I would suggest looking up the youtube video ''How powerful are javelin missiles'', and then you would probably understand where I am going. This guy is jokingly saying that billions of birds were killed and replaced by an equal number of surveillance drones overnight by the same government that took ages to get it's act together after the pandemic hit, a pandemic mind you that was very much warned about yet no preparations were made. I don't really have to explain much further how ridiculous the conspiracy theory is, but I do want to stress how harmful it is to just preach something like that to the public. Because you never know who is gonna hear it, how gullible they are, how they could become obsessed by that one conspiracy theory and revolve their entire lives around it and in turn infect others the same way. To put it into perspective, think about the many different religions of the world and the millions to billions of people that adamantly believe in the biggest absurdities. You just have to be careful, especially in times when random twitter posts with strong political context is put in the spotlight of the media with a magnifying glass. Single individuals and small groups become very loud political parties through the use and exploitation of social media. Like I stated previously, misinformation is a soldier's ammunition these days. Aside from that, I find it irresponsible to applaud this approach towards political beliefs. Everything is already made into a meme these days, this whole comment section is Gen Z essentially saying ''Every aspect of life around us has been made a joke, why not just treat everything as a joke anyway'' and that attitude/mentality can grow like a weed. All in all, we can't control how people will react to things but we can control the things we choose to say, repeat or facilitate. Arm yourself with real knowledge and make sure you know what you're talking about before talking about it, otherwise you are doing more harm than good.

The cool thing about this kind of satire, is that people with sincerely held crazy beliefs will probably try to debate it, inadvertently teaching themselves how to use basic critical thinking that they can then potentially, eventually apply to their own ideas and beliefs. I did something similar with my mother once. She was going down a certain online conspiracy rabbit hole hole, eating it up, and mindlessly regurgitating it any chance she got. I remember asking her, "what kind of evidence would convince you that you're wrong?" to which she replied "I don't understand, it's true so no evidence could possibly prove me wrong". So I invented an entire conspiracy theory about something I knew she would try to debate, as it was related to something she cared deeply about. I eventually managed to catch her out, as she would try to apply logic to my "beliefs", that she had made herself exempt from. She soon stopped talking about her conspiracy theories.

Then she could have shown you evidence in various highly respected science, tech, biology journals to support her stance. @@ColinBishopCB Probably is. The real truth is that it's russian propaganda meant to dissuade people from believing that there is any reality to the statement that "birds aren't real ...". Many of the birds are reanimated cadavers; artificially living by extraneous bioelectric supply instead of the organic -- original -- synergetic life force of the creature. What is absolutely true is that many, if not nearly all, of the birds have been killed off due to being outbred by these reanimated cadaver ones (which are virtually like zombies, in that they will fight more aggressively & intend to kill like they are programmed to ... I have actually witnessed this first-hand with a pair of ducks, male & female, which were organic living ones being chased down by a reanimated cadaver male duck in a stream by the bank I was observing from. The cadaver duck was swimming in a different way than the living ones, more head bobbing, cruder ... it's head would rotate in a repetitious pattern to emulate natural movements like normal & the other living ducks would keep looking back over their shoulders at this unsightly intruder that was gaining on them. The cadaver duck wreaked havoc on the living male. The female went on downstream further & the cadaver duck went after her, while the male recovered by the bank where he had been wrestling with the fierce cadaver. I can only presume this is happening throughout the animal kingdom wherever it can be implemented. Birds are pretty easy targets since their ecosystem & migratory way of life are so fragile & complex. Only the strong survived & even then the cadaver specimens of their culture would brutally deny them their rightful chance at life & prosperity. Believe it or not, something very similar is happing at the human level with homeless individuals being outdone by reanimated cadaver humans. They beg in conditions that living humans would not easily reach for longer timeframes & more successfully being that they are begging from other cadaver humans in society. Most ones seen in modern society now are non-living reanimated cadaver humanoids. TTH (Technologically transitioned human) VS OOH (Organic original human), is one set of terms for it. Birds are probably all but extinct now after climate change has been so wickedly released on the globe. The magnetic poles have been changing, weather zones are all goofed up ... The globalist powers are ruining life & creating more suffering than they could ever know. "Birds aren't real" is just some stupid way of saying it. It's deliberately trying to make it sound like some childish conspiracy theory that shouldn't be seriously entertained. Don't be fooled. There is truth in this. It's unforgivably terrible. This is happening to humans too. Reanimated cadavers are invading all areas of human / worldly existence & they are all virtually controlled by the globalist powers that are working to disintegrate the world as we know it.

the guy took it to the next level. satirical authors in my country are just changing the news into a satirical one. not mentioning they're copying the logo of popular news media to look very convincing. BUT this one is very unique. absolutely amazing.

I have a friend who has been suffering severe schizophrenia for years, prominently featuring the belief that birds have been surveilling and torturing him. Not sure what to think about this, he just basically just said "Well what did I tell you?"

Yeah, that's why I have a bit of a problem with this. There are too many cognitively and psychologically vulnerable people who will take this to heart and it will only increase their difficulty in life.

At least he came with the truth in the end. But to a schizophrenic the truth hardly matters either way. They will connect any dots however they see fit. We can't pander to schizophrenics, because it is futile. But you make a good point.

@@theobserver9131 Amen. This seems like a funny cool prank. But there are people who will buy in, and that will be nasty. See: QAnon. Feel for the kid, his background seems pretty sad and I can see where he is going, but real life trolling isn’t cool specifically because there will be buy in. Most people (including me, not trying to play some “I’m super smart” game) aren’t all that bright and it only takes a moment for that but in to really hit. QAnon was once basically this; it was a lonely troll who decided to see whether a bunch of people would believe and follow through with this crazy, clearly fake conspiracy theory for their own benefit. Well then, COVID happened and you got a bunch of upper-middle class middle aged men and women sitting at home for months at a time and scrolling Facebook and suddenly these insane, blatantly false conspiracies seemed very real to them. This is dangerous. This should not be featured as a funny or cool movement. This is the formation of a cult. And I hope it doesn’t become another QAnon, but…

This is by far the best thing I have seen in regards to people from all walks of life, coming together, and simultaneously participating their role in something greater, while keeping it fun, but realizing the collective power of people. There is a reason why each one of us is a beautiful universe onto our own, but collectively we can become limitless, powerful, and a force to be reckoned with. It's refreshing that these wonderful individuals used that force, that power for brining people together and sharing that experience. Wherever you guys are and whatever you are doing now I send you all the good and beauty this universe has in store for you. You give me a good hope for the future that we feel like keeps being shrouded in darkness. You are that light!
