@@peterbelanger4094 you know, I used to think that too, its pretty easy to think like that if you live in the US. Because the information is so divided and politicized. The truth is that Climate Change Global Warming & the dangers it presents is only a Partisan issue in the US. Only in the US is it still framed as a debate. While the entire rest of the World is trying to decide what to do about It, People The US are still trying to decide if its real or not. the Fossil Fuel Industry has such a hold on American Politics that theyve completely imposed their Agenda on the US & we dont even realize how much this will negatively effect us. While the rest of the World is becoming less dependent on Fossil Fuels, we're just spinning our tires and bickering and thats exactly what "Big Oil" Wants because their market is dwindling & they're conning us into being their last remaining life-line of profit & revenue. Our Government (U.S.) is doing the same thing with our Healthcare industry. They're so bought and paid for by the Private insurance companies that they wont give us what every other industrjalized country already has, and then they pay the talking heads on all the news channels left & right alike to tell us that a single payer healthcare system will be too expensive even though research says we're already paying twice those numbers , and they tell us the quality will decline even though American Doctors already control for this now by not looking at the financial circumstances of their patients so that it never affects the quality of care they provide. That is why you cant be turned away at any hospital in the country if you're experiencing an emergency. Your absolutely right to be suspicious about the things our government tells us, but if you think hard about what the possible motivating factors are then you can usually uncover where truth and corruption part ways. If this was a global conspiracy of some sort, who would benefit from this kind of lie? The Solar & Wind Energy industry? The Government because of all the new Taxes and Regulations they can pass? they Government doesnt need a Global conspiracy to find new things to tax its people for. Who does this information hurt? Definitely Fossil Fuel & Petroleum Industry, Coal Industry, also Companies that have been polluting but have not been held accountable for it but know they will have to soon like all the platics which are actually petroleum products. Autumn Peltier a young water protector has also been on the frontlines and speaking on this. The only negative effect, on not going to school, is your own education. But if real workers strike, it's the company who has a negative effect, because they can't produce things. @treiberTV5 жыл бұрын
@@jessicabrack2846 Hi, i'm aware of that. Things will always change. And if we even manage to life with nature in harmony, we still have the problem that mankind will produce itself untill our planet is overcrowded some day. So, all this (industrial revolution, CO2+) is a result of education and mankind evolving. The only way, to get rid of the problem, as mankind did get rid of the problem of having no light in the dark and inventing the wheel, or boats to discover new land, is science. So if your generation (?) wants to change something, you have to demonstrate AND educate yourselfes for decades, to change the system from within. Not going to school on fridays, could be a start. But you will never change 40+ year old people from the scratch, with not going to school. I understand that this is your "only" way, to be heard. But my concern is, that you have to do it for years. So, you miss class. And education is important. Imagine a young generation, who all just quit school to change the climate. Then, after 10 years they are successful. This would produce someday a generation of older people who have to lead us, without proper education. Problem? Yes! Never the less, i hope this younger generation can solve & lead us to something better. But be aware, you have to be educated well to bring the change. Much more, then the current elders. And always think of a CO2 Tax wich will hit small people the most. And are "they" going to use this money for climate change? NO, THEY WONT!

These kids want a tectonic shift in climate change and they want it done now..hell, I want the same thing..but it's just not possible in the reality that we live in. I don't believe they've fully understood the structure and most importantly, the financial costs. I'm 35 and I guess I try to live "greener"? My wife and I live in a home where we use LED bulbs where we can, solar powered path lights, and one of our vehicles is a Tesla. It's not much, but I'd argue it's "greener" than the average American household and that's about it. I'm not about to drop a ton of money into converting my home to where it's great for the planet and I don't believe most people would either. Why? The cost. In the end, it's all about money.

And the truth is we "older people" hate the fact that a 16 years old started it cause we used to think nothing would change cause we got too used to unfairness. Yes, it is about the money. But consider this analogy. It's expensive to have your plumbing fixed, but if you wait years to address it, you'll then have to replace not just the pipes, but also the rotting floor, collapsed ceiling and deal with rampant mold. I guarantee you that the cost will be many, many times greater and you won't be able to put it off anymore, so the bill will have to be paid all at once when you did not expect it.
@SKtube05 жыл бұрын
@@e.a.prince8895 Respectfully, that's a stupid analogy. I already do that as I mentioned...eco-friendly LED lighting wherever I can use it, solar powered lights, and driving a Tesla plus I pre-ordered the new truck the other day, so both my wife and I will be driving E-vehicles soon. I'm doing and spending more than the average American household to help the planet...problem is, not everyone can afford to make changes and not everyone really cares. If I owned the planet, sure, I'd be happy to pay to preserve it. But I don't. I only have control over a small space and while I can try to make things better in my world, not enough people are doing anything in theirs, and it's not just because they don't want to do anything, but because the cost of it is too high. And right now, issues like climate change are taking a backseat to more human issues such as the rise in homelessness, opiod epedemics, etc. and they always will when compared to issues dealing with people.

She's taking an electric car across the US, and as a symbolic gesture of how we can all do more if we put our minds to it, she took a yacht that used solar power across the Atlantic Ocean to New York City. I heard Sir David Attenborough on BBC, Radio 4, and he said, "I've been talking about climate change for 30 years." Leonardo DiCaprio made 2 documentaries about climate change. The first was Before The Flood, and his latest is Ice On Fire. Arnold Schwarzenegger organized the Austrian World Summit in Vienna. Arnold and Greta both spoke at the last summit in 2019. I think young people relate to Greta so much because she's around their age. Some older people get bent out of shape about Greta, but not Sir David or Leonardo DiCaprio, because their tiny world views don't allow for a teenage girl to be the catalyst of a huge, social movement. So they whinge instead of expanding their world view, which is what most people do when confronted with something new that disagrees with their world view. I look at Greta as a tiny super hero. She is working to literally save the planet! And she's doing most of her work in her second language.

This is something refreshing and positive, in the midst of all the negativity in this world. So people who want to complain, I feel sorry for their souls...Climate change is real, very very real. Pollution in the air, in the ocean and in the soil. Global Warming, increase in heat. Melting of ice. I feel like everyone has heard this over and over. But please please, we need to act. 1) Companies producing products that have a plastic casing (pretty much most production companies) should find an alternate material. Bio degradable, or at least recyclable. All the big companies should also have a major recycling unit. 2) government should start funding or give incentives to open more recycling factories. And not just in the big city's. 3) The government should ban the production of low-grade plastics(plastic bags) 4) Ban plastic in grocery stores, I think we should all bring our own bags. 5) Try walking rather than the use of motorized vehicles. The gov should promote facilities that makes it easier for people to walk. (Some of the steps may have been followed by developed countries, but the countries that are developing and that have a high population need to act immediately) We can only achieve this if each one of us do our part. I really hope that everyone, every individual does their part. Climate change is real. The burning of toxic waste is real. Please stand for the right cause... IF NOT YOU, WHO? IF NOT NOW, WHEN?

Anybody who speaks a Native language can tell you that something is off. When your people have traditionally called (say) the month of May "frog croaking moon" for thousands of years and all of a sudden the frogs stop showing up, or they show up three weeks late, then you know something is off. If your people have called (say) the month of December something like "river freezing moon" for thousands of years and suddenly the river doesn't freeze at all, or it doesn't freeze until February, then you know that something is off. You don't need fancy computer models of climate change to tell you something is off. If you actually pay attention to the larger patterns of the world around you, it will become obvious. Ask your parents or your grandparents if you can. I can guarantee that most of them have experienced some of these changes in their local environment first-hand if they just sit and think about it.

And no, we continue to use plastics at astoundingly stupid rates, continue to waste food and yet strain the environment taking more, and continue to overconsume paper and electricity in inefficient appliances. Were far from any meaningful amount of progress at this point.

WRONG INFO. I suggest you do your homework before you make inaccurate statements in the future. China (30%) and United States (15%) both combined: contribute to 45% pollution of global pollution. While India per capita generates 7%. which is incredibly nominal considering the fact that it is the fasted growing economy with the second largest population in the world. Russia (5%) and Japan (4%) are the other two among the top 5 contributors. Sources: UNHCR, World Bank

Greta Thunberg started the movement so if it wasn't for her no one would be protesting at a grand scale, she has become the figure head for the fight against climate change.

I live in Belgium. I also skipped school to protest in Brussels.

listen up greta. i'm younger than you. i live in a developing country here where corruption is rampant and where poverty is high. you grow up in a rich wealthy nation notorious for it's political correctness. i grew up in a nation where poverty and corruption are important problems. many of my people here are suffering to live and are adapting to what we already have and you want to take it away? for the sake of 'saving the world' ? don't be surprised if you save the world but not humanity. you don't represent me, you don't know what we have been through.

I also come from a country with a similar situation to yours so I can agree with you to some extent. However, she is not asking for the little we have to be taken away. She simply wants our governments to do better by giving better alternatives that will save everyone. If we dont "save the world", dont we all die?? And we both know that those who are I poorer counties would suffer the most anyway.
