I actually attended this “Journey Into Manhood” weekend years ago. These videos portray it accurately, but omit many of the more disturbing practices led by unskilled, unlicensed, non-professionals. One of the men I attended with ended up committing suicide. One of the founders - Dave Matheson - has now come out as gay and disavowed his harmful practices. Thankfully, I survived and - shocker - I’m still gay and have happily been with my partner for 5 years now. If you are reading this and considering conversion therapy, please know the people running these camps are deeply misguided and ashamed of who they are. You are beautiful just as you are, and your sexuality does NOT need any repairing!
@dziobak1015 жыл бұрын
Also, Rich Wyler - the other founder of “People Can Change”, which apparently now calls itself “Brothers Road” after all the scandals, and who is featured in these videos - lived as a gay man for a long time then decided to be a good Mormon boy and marry a woman. He claims to be happily married, and he also happily makes money off of vulnerable, religiously abused, gay men convincing them they can “heal” their sexuality. I’ve seen him get naked and frolic in the woods with other naked men in “non-sexual and healing ways.” Stay away, people!

KK's anime and stuff YT, have you ever thought that your parents might be disturbed and just wrong, or maybe just wacko members of a cult that mean well, but are brainwashed? I promise you that you are not disgusting. I don’t think there is any evidence for the existence of a God, but if there is a God, how could he hate his own creation or find his own child disgusting? That doesn’t make sense. It’s just the brainwashing from your parents’ cult that has you thinking that way... I know, I was in it for years and thought the same way. It has you twisting your mind in knots... but I promise you it’s bullshit. You are awesome, you are beautiful just the way you are. If you’re not already, then soon you will be an adult and can get away from your parents and their cult. There is so much more to life! Being gay is actually AWESOME!!! You’ll have so much fun and meet amazing people and build your own family that loves and accepts you for who you are! Anyone who doesn’t see how wonderful you are - even your own parents - are sick and twisted by their own bigotry. THEY are the ones with the problem... NOT YOU!!! Don’t give in, don’t give up... I promise you it will get better! Much love, brother! ❤️

Well the bible says jesus christ forgives and accepts sinners and welcomes them into his father's precense despite the fact that they were super terrible sinners. Maybe the Christian community should follow in Jesus's example and be kind and accepting of others, even if they are different or have a 'dark or stained' history. I wouldn't say the whole of the Christian community is hateful. There are just some people who can be very close-minded and act terribly against people who are not like them or have beliefs like them within the ranks.

Grew up in a really small town (pop 5000), and knew absolutely no one gay. Was raised in a horrible Christian fundamentalist household. For years while I was miserably closeted, I thought that gay people were a bunch of depressed sex-addicts desperately searching for meaning in endless one night stands of dangerous and bizarre sexual acts, endless drugs, and countless bottles of booze, which ultimately ended in a dramatic suicide. It's been more than a decade since I finally admitted to myself that I'm gay, and almost 10 years since I came out, and I'm still working on undoing all the damage caused by the filtered information, or even lack thereof, that I grew up with.

But it is impossible for God to be in the presence of sin, so he sent Jesus to take our sin from us (very simple explanation) and take our place in hell. Its up to us now if we want to continue living in sin then we need to take the punishment we've been told we will get (hell) or we can repent and trust in Jesus' ability to take our sin from us. First of all I agree Christians shouldn't hate! The only thing they should hate is sin and I don't agree with all these violent 'therapy' some organizations do, also not very christian. But I'm sorry I just don't believe from both a religious and secular moral perspective that if you saw someone with a gun to there head about to pull the trigger saying 'nah its fine I don't think it will kill me so it won't' you wouldn't do everything you could to stop them from killing themselves even though they don't think it will hurt them. I sorry I just can't conceive of a letting someone have some shirt to term gain for themselves only to eventually suffer for longer and in worse ways, for the christian that is there worldview. If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. "If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for" thats quote from Charles surgeon and I kinda think it illustrates my point quite nicely

I really feel for the guys who lead and later left the ex-gay movement. I was in a similar position where i was on the leadership of a group who believed not in getting rid of ones' sexuality, but not living it and confessing their "sins" and "attractions". I am so grateful to have left and been able to live the life I want. I am really glad other people realize that too and I hope that they are all able to leave before even more damage is done.

I'm gay, have only had sex with 2 people... And my fiancé has only had sex with 1 person... Me... And we've been together for 3-1/2 years and have never had a true fight and love each other very much. Yes we both have anxiety and depression, but it's not because we're gay .. it's because people have been abusive towards us throughout our lives for being gay. Being gay doesn't cause mental health problems, being treated like shit by other people for being gay is what causes mental health issues. That should be obvious.

So many of these men are like "I had sexual attraction towards men... but I also wanted a family, children, a normal life, etc." but I feel like they don't even realise a number of things: 1) Bisexuality is a thing. So is pansexuality. Just throwing that out there because people seem to forget like. all the time. 2) You can still have a family if you're gay?? Just because the majority of the gay community is really into sex doesn't mean you can't have a partner and settle down... adopt or have a surrogate. And I know a lot of those things play into what you think is "right" and morally acceptable by your religion but like... come on guys. 3) Heteronormativity (this is my own definition): having your opinion on LGBT+ altered issues simply because the majority of the open, public community is straight/cis. It makes you think that you want these things, even though you naturally don't. Not saying that's always the case but it's possible. Not to mention I'd like to see where that anti-gay psychologist got all those "facts" from, and ask him if gay people "aren't physically compatible", then why is a man's g-spot up his ass?? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Every religion is a lie. Just the fact there is more than one should tell you that. And for all the undeserved love religion gets here is the ignored side. I mean for fucks sake do you really need to be under constant threat of eternal punishment to be a good person?
@beid77710 жыл бұрын
1 we 'good' people (even though Christians are still sinners) because we follow what god says because we trust he knows what's best for us, the whole swapping eternal punishment for eternal paradise thing is just one of the perks 2 are you really suggesting that we should use the world view of "there's more hen one veiw on the same topic so they must all be wrong" some scientist believe the big bang happened some believe other things happened in the early universe, by your logic that means the most scientifically credible idea is wrong because some people disagree with it and think there way is right
@aizaz123410 жыл бұрын
Tom Obeid 1 you accept blame for a sin you never committed. 2 you trust a being that blames you for a sin you never committed. 3 If such a god were real why would it be so bad at conveying its message? Its not having a diffrent view its believing in an all powerful being that is incapable of convincing its own creations that it exists.

They can try but it doesn't really work and that's why gay conversion therapy should be banned from being practiced on minors by "licensed medical professionals". @AngelicPhantom9 жыл бұрын
+GuiarGodCole I blame them because they are capitalizing on people's pain. Society tells gay people (at least some parts of society) that being gay is wrong and they are deviant and then these clowns come in with a 'fix'. The problem is that this 'treatment' doesn't work and can result in suicide. How can they not shoulder some of the blame? Also they knowingly provide false hope.
