The three officers involved slammed him head first and hit and kicked him in the head and chest. While under investigation, 2 were allowed to leave and be rehired and the other one remained employed. After a year and a half of walking around and serving with a firearm for another police department, the 3 officers have finally been charged in Robinson’s death.

Now any other job, if you are found passed out behind the wheel of a company vehicle you will get fired. In the most clear cut case for firing, Aurora PD wouldn’t do it and they also proved they cannot be trusted to investigate themselves. The main reason that the City of Kansas City Missouri doesn't have control over their own police department is that this city government is both corrupt and incompetent, and is and always has been, and that has caused significant problems in the past when the city had control of the police department. The City of Kansas City Missouri does six things extremely well. 1) Steaks 2) BBQ 3) Feeding the poor and homeless when the Health Dept isn't pouring bleach on the food. 4) Issuing parking citations 5) Discouraging new and existing businesses 6) Corruption, mainly through new construction, especially concerning items that aren't necessary and don't benefit the majority of people living in the city.

Police training should absolutely include psychology classes! Dude was like, "There are two kinds of people in the world: bad people and good people." No! No, there aren't. Humans are freaking complicated, and this kind of simplistic thinking is one of the main problems in policing. Another is a serious lack of self reflection (supported by regular assessment by experts, such as psychologists). A person in such a high pressure job, especially working with the public, should continually evaluate their own motivations, personal growth, and mental health, in addition to their professional development.

But it's obvious that, nationwide, police training does not include training to relate to the people involved in each encounter that it generally should. Police Academies do offer some form of psychology classes but they're very minimal and very basic, and of course we don't know what exactly is being taught in those classes. Real world situational training should be based off how people actually would react when the police is there. Some countries don't allow their police to have guns and they seem to do a better job. If they only train for violent crimes then they're going to always assume that a certain part of the public is violent. Take some of the budget so they can investigate white-collar crimes which takes more money disproportionately from the city which actually increases crime.

@Peter Goezinya that's another American problem- everyone has a gun. I've been in the Israeli military, I'm not an American. We don't have your crime rates. And as some one who held a rifle, I Know it awesome power and my responsibility while holding it. Police is made to protect and keep the law. How can it be that more than half of the prisoners on earth are in America? Maybe because the police is being issued to arrest and hurt, but not to protect and serve. Dude, even after having my fair share of real life experience, being in the Gaza wat of 2014, I still think that shooting is the absolute last resort after all other means have been put to use. It is just seems like the police in the us knows *only* to shoot. But not to police.

In a way, they are also the victims of overly violent society. Maybe it is the training of the police that could be done differently? I am a big believer of responsibility and accountability. If something is malfunctioning we aren't ought to seek for blame, but for solutions. But in the end of the day, I am not in a position to preach because it is not my society. I can't project my values Ina society which caring it's own set of values. Difficult time will pass. And things will get better. I send love to all Americans. And keep on having faith in the future

To this title, I don’t know that we will ever reach a point where black people or white people aren’t being killed by police. It’s part of the nature of the job that when enforcing the law there will be criminal elements that resist and at times force will be required. That force may result in death. Even in cases where the people aren’t engaged in criminal behavior there is the problem that humans feel fear and that affects their perceptions, often in ways that seem baffling in hindsight. Humans are often terrible at interacting with each other, even outside of law enforcement interactions. That said, the US is a country with a deep seated history of racism and law enforcement factors in to that racism. There must be an effort to both eliminate the racist element and train better police. I don’t believe defunding the police is the best way to accomplish that. If anything we need to spend more money on training (I do understand that money can be moved from military equipment to better training). I would also argue that we as a society have come to turn to the police for all sorts of purposes that we ourselves don’t want to deal with, including mental illness and poverty. We all share some of the blame.

"It's shoot to kill." It's not. I don't know of law enforcement officers that use that expression these days. The phrase is, "shoot to stop the threat." You aim at what is the center of mass available to you at the time and the most likely area to quickly cease that person's ability to harm you and others. That's generally the upper thoracic cavity assuming that person isn't behind cover. Shooting to wound is not a thing. It can prolong an already deadly encounter and shooting at the extremities is a harder target to hit, increasing the chances of a missed shot and that shot may strike someone else.

The police don’t need to be defunded, they merrily need better funding management.

6:11 This is the scary part. He is teaching officers IN TRAINING, that you cannot intercede any other way than with lethal force. One person commits a crime against another person, and the officer decides that only one of them gets to live, not both. This is a building block for how they will treat all situations. "You're defending that citizen. There's nothing else you could have done." literally sent chills down my spine. 10:50 I'd be willing to bet he doesn't see it as "got away with", as much as "That was fucked up. I won't make that mistake again.". But he will.

I wish the video touched more on the other 196+ murders in KCMO this year that were not police-related. I’m interested in why the majority of these murders happened and the reasons why the murder rate has increased so rapidly this year. They used the high murder rate as a focus point to pull you into the video but then switched the subject to police brutality. If I caught the number correctly, I believe they said there was a total of four unarmed people killed by KCMO police this year. Can we have a second video about the 196 other murders that occurred? why this is happening, and what can be done to curb the violence?

Cause nearly 40 years worth of D.A.R.E. drug prevention hasn't helped. As being an atheist cause I do not believe in the current Jesus myth or how Christians view their Bible. But the dam truth is after studying world religions. " Idle hands leads to the devil's work." Also they listed 196 murders so far, not the number of people who survived being shot, stab, or club nearly to death. As for curbing the violence, how do you curb human nature ?

@@sdgsgdgsdsdggsdsgd773 I have been looking at Scandinavia on and off for the pass ten years. They have their own problems to deal with. Look at how they have been dealing with their refuge and covid 19 problem in regards to the rest of the world health social issues. As for Scandinavia curbing their human natures, Winter Metal is a great emotional release out let. Have a good weekend.

Tonya, there’s been studies showing that when people don’t trust the police, they take the law into their own hands: they enact their own revenge; a LOT of homicides today are revenge-motivated. You can see this in Baltimore (2015), St. Louis (2017), and Minneapolis and Louisville today now, too. In 2004, a group of white Milwaukee cops unjustly, beat a Black man, forcing him to be hospitalized. After that became public, 911 calls dropped 17%, while homicides rose 32%. So, in a way, the video does HINT as to way the murders are skyrocketing. You also have, I think, very skilled criminals exploiting the lack of trust by the community towards the cops to keep committing more violent offenses, like shootings and killings, because they know they can get away with it if witnesses don’t trust the cops enough.

There’s a lot of ways to reduce gun violence, too many to list, but here’s a start: www.thetrace.org/2016/08/policing-tactics-what-works/amp/ Also, IDK if you’re an avid reader or not, but check out “Bleeding Out” by Thomas Abt. It’s all about ways to reduce gun violence in high-crime, urban communities.
