I love the finish and colour of educa puzzles, I just hate the way they don't lock together. At least on the 4k puzzle I'm working on. I can't imagine doing 33k pieces that come apart so easily.

Your puzzles sound lovely - I’m not familiar with those images, but I’ll look them up! I have 2 x 4k Educa’s in my stash - one is very similar to Entering the Bedroom, I can’t wait to tackle them 😍 It’s good to build up the sizes gradually, that way you get a good sense of what you can manage in limited space, but whenever space has been an issue for me, I find that boards are the way forward 😊

New subscriber here. You have such a pleasant voice to listen to, Vicky. I almost feel like you are chatting with friends while building your puzzle. I enjoy hearing your puzzle strategies and I find it wonderfully satisfying to see the close-ups of you placing individual puzzle pieces into place. Your music selections for this video are soothing and relaxing. You have a nice mix of talking strategy and reviewing the quality of the puzzle, piecing together the puzzle, and music background. This is a beautiful puzzle. I've never attempted such a large puzzle but you are showing that it is not so overwhelming and it is an enjoyable immersive experience.

It makes me glad to hear that you like the close ups - I always try and make sure I put plenty of those in - I also love to see them slot into place - so satisfying! Thanks for commenting on the talking/puzzling balance in the video - I have always been a little conscious that maybe I talk too much, but if the balance is right then that’s great to hear. As for the puzzle, it is one of the most immersive I have ever done. I always tend to lose myself in puzzles, but this one, for some reason, really drew me in. It’s been so enjoyable! I love the picture... I did this puzzle last year but it was only 1000 pieces big. Funny experience: I started with sorting out several of the largest animals there and put those pieces into small bags... only to have my 4 year old daughter empty those back into the box the next day thinking she was helping... I was none too happy of course but thought that no big harm happened... until she ran her fingers through the pieces several times wondering how tiny they were comparing to her puzzle pieces... :-)

Puzzle law....so true! Looking so much forward to the 33K-piece unboxing!!! DO YOU KNOW how many times on average do you have to switch boards per hour for this 6000-pc puzzle?
@Vickymakesandbuilds2 жыл бұрын
😆 I know right? Puzzle law - lol! I literally just got a notification that the 33k puzzle is coming tomorrow!! So so so excited 😃 That is a good question, and hard to answer. In this first half video, which represents about 50% of the puzzle, I built most of it on the table and only transferred it to the boards near to the end. I’m still doing that to a certain extent so there hasn’t been as much switching as you might think at this stage. I would say the times when I’m filling in gaps are the times when I’m doing the most board shuffling. If I was to average the number out over an hour I’d say maybe 2 or 3 times, but that will increase as the puzzle fills out and that doesn’t really include when I’m moving sections off the table and onto the boards, if you included that, then closer to 4 or 5 times. Sorry that is not more accurate, I will try to keep tabs on that so that I can give you a bit more of an idea. I have to say though, the Clementoni 6k was a lot more “board shuffly” than this one is, but I think that is partially to do with the differing ways that the puzzles came together. Hope that helps 😍

Hey Vicky. Looks like a fun puzzle. Too bad it didn’t come with a poster. Not sure if you misspoke, but the creature below the killer whale is a dolphin. In fact, a killer whale is also a dolphin. The 8000pc Educa Cappella Sistina puzzle I just did has some of the wavy edge pieces. All of the other inside pieces were the standard 2 in’s on opposite edges and 2 out’s on the other 2 opposite edges. I call the short ones H’s and the long ones I’s. I have never seen an arrangement with the wavy pieces and the double looking ones together like that before. As far as I can remember, the only time I have seen the double looking pieces are in round puzzles. I just did the Wasgij original #16 Catch of the Day.
@Vickymakesandbuilds2 жыл бұрын
Oooh! Yes, now you say it, it does look like a dolphin! 😆 I actually thought it might be a beluga whale at first, because of the shorter nose and bump on the top, but they are white aren’t they, come to think of it? Thanks for that 😃 I think the Educa Life puzzle has those wavy pieces too from what I’ve seen, but I’ve only come across the tall double pieces in a Krypt puzzle before now. I like it, it’s a little different 😊 H’s and I’s are a good way of describing the standard pieces too. I’ve not done that Wasgij? @@Vickymakesandbuilds My Sistine Chapel puzzle is 272 by 96 cm. It came in 4 bags breaking the puzzle down into 4 quadrants each 136 by 48 cm. After I finished each section, I broke them in half to 68 by 48 sections to move them aside. When I would slide the sections onto a piece of cardboard, the wavy pieces would drop and some pieces would come out. My Wasgij collection consists of #1 thru19 of the Originals, 1 thru 9 Mystery, 1 thru 10,12 &14 of the Destiny, 1 thru 8 Xmas, and the 10th Anniversary one. I was taking pictures of the solutions of them and had a bunch done, but my computer hard drive crashed and I lost them. Thanks for the reply Vicky.

Wondered whether you could tell me a little more about piece thickness? Odd question, I know, but I have my reasons! I live in Cyprus, and brands are limited: lots of Trefl (fine with that), the occasional Ravensburger (all good), and Clementoni (chunky and unique fit; my favourite by far). I am able to get my hands on Educa, but having recently been burnt (by Mindbogglers; so cheap and thin it was undoable!) I'm a little worried. tl;dr: How would you say Educa pieces compare to those of Clementoni? Thank you!
@Vickymakesandbuilds2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I will do a comparison on the pieces and let you know. I’ll also measure the thickness. I love Clementoni’s as well - I think they are my favourite brand to date. @@Vickymakesandbuilds Hooray! Thank you so much.
@Vickymakesandbuilds2 жыл бұрын
Hiya, I just did a quick comparison between a Clementoni piece from the Venice Sunset 6k and Educa 6k. Educa are definitely thinner than Clementoni - by about half a mm or thereabouts. I prefer a chunkier piece myself, but I didn’t find Educa to be too thin, the pieces felt sturdy enough, with no peeling image or fraying - no bent pieces either - also very few stuck together (Clementonis tend to have a lot stuck together in my experience.) Also Clementonis usually have that ‘woven’ looking finish, which I like, whereas Educa is a little smoother. I had no problems with glare though and the texture of the pieces suited the brightness and vibrancy of this particular puzzle. Also the Educa pieces are slightly more elongated - they were more rectangular than on a Clementoni, which are more square. I found this helped with the Educa as you could tell which way the pieces were going to be oriented. I can’t really say much more. I’ve only done one Educa, but have done several Clementonis. Like you, Clementoni are my favourite brand as well. My first Educa has been a positive experience, but I’d say that the image is about 85% responsible for that 😍 hope that all makes sense and helps!

But did you put the pieces already in front and making the video than you put them inside? So fast puzzeling is not possible. Then you are a genius. Oh good! I got a little worried there for a minute. I don’t have the best wifi where I live, so I think it’s a bit slow to upload in HD sometimes. I’m glad it’s looking better now 😃

@@Vickymakesandbuilds I recommend leaving it as unlisted until it goes HD. That is what I do

I think you might be right. Usually I schedule them, so I don’t have that problem, but I was a bit late with this one and I simply forgot about the delay with the HD processing. I’ll keep that in mind for the future 😃
