They believe what they want to believe despite any evidence put in front of their eyes. It must be terrible to have somebody like that in your family. I saw in this channel a woman who gave to the scammer her mother's retirement money. She was her main caregiver, so she had access to her money. She had no other job. The investigators gave her all the evidence, she understood it was a scam. A few days later: she followed her routine: every Wednesday she sent money to the scammer. The investigators asked: why? You know it is a scammer!. She: IDK! It is just what I do every Wednesday! I have being doing it for years! Another scammed man I saw: the day after they showed him the evidences of the scam, he went back to interact with the scammer as if nothing happened. That man had said to his wife he was leaving her for the "other woman". The wife knew he was being scammed, so she called these KZbin investigators. It looks like a very strong addiction, similar to gambling addiction: they know they are losing all their money there, yet they cannot stop doing it.

Her poor child, at 5/6, had to save himself by going to his teacher after his mother chose to ignore the abuse. That speaks volumes about her character. It’s one thing to believe your religion and try to work things out, but the second someone hurts your child that is where your allegiance to any church or spouse should end. She “feels like she’s a good person” but gives money for some D- and not for her kids. That gold coin and all those gift cards she gave away to some rando was money I’m sure her children needed…

As a woman you need a husband to get into the next life. Then the marriage fails and the cycle repeats. EDIT: I know the LDS-church modernised a lot in the past few decades, but this is an older lady. He hasn't paid child support ever. 3yrs now, but somehow they believe him, with no evidence. The courts themselves took away his parenting rights due to the years of abuse the child was born into and then groomed to participate in. He was ordered to pay $3000 a month, since I paid to put him through schooling, supported him financially, put a roof over his head for free for 9yrs. He crushed 2 vertebrae in my neck, never charged. He put me in the hospital for 6weeks from poisoning, causing multi-organ failure, not charged because of 'plausible deniability'. I'll never be able to work again and am 55yrs old with absolutely nothing to show for it. When we escaped the police wouldn't allow us to take anything out of the home. By the time I was able to get the property issue into court, he claimed that he had already disposed of everything. We'll be homeless by Christmas and the abuser will be happy that the child will be taken into government care. It's a win for him. These these things are demons, and the system doesn't recognize them.

I don't understand how people living with tech and exposure to the internet for decades at this stage aren't a hell of a lot more savvy about these kinds of things - simply saying "They're old" fails to explain away their distinct lack of awareness of basic scams, online bustles, etc etc. I mean, I'm from a small, remote Irish town, and even my elderly parents there show a sharper grasp of online hustles and scam artists than the people on these shows do. In reality, they physically look like a plausible couple Now the rest: 2. Understand that a Dr is very unlikely to be roaming the internet looking for a date 3. No job is going to tell you to pay to leave the job. Where TF do they get this 4. How does a Dr have only one source of finances, most people don't. There's almost always a credit card somewhere even if they rarely use it. If every bank they have blocks them, that's highly suspicious and you should run 5. Sorry for your trauma but seek therapy not someone to fix you and make you feel better. 6. Bitcoin and gift cards are not a reliable source of payment for pretty much anything. Most companies are not going to say 'we accept bitcoin' for payment 7. The early 1900s con artist Yellow Kid Weil said "every one of my victims had larceny in his heart." I do not condone scammers at all but there is certainly a common thread of "i am going to be so rich!!"

Bumped into an oil rig scammer. Showed me a phony bank account with $6M in it. LOL. He failed to convince me to "loan" him money to fly off the rig when his bank account got frozen. Joker.

How do you get engaged to someone you haven’t even met yet?
@everlynevins Жыл бұрын
I think "not meeting" yet in itself is not that bad, especially if it's someone from a different country. But not at least video chatting, especially regularly, is where it gets critical. And giving so much money is an even bigger red flag.

She has been abused. The fact her Mother didn't keep her safe nor encourage her to get out of a violent marriage tells me no one made her feel loved ever. She is not stupid but a victim of violence. She needs counselling.

Yeah sounds like an endless cycle of being a victim in which she just ends up in more abusive scenarios. Hopefully she can get some support for her and she can work with her kids since they all probably need it
@repentjesusiscomingsoon1529 Жыл бұрын
Yes, this is what I just commented above. She obviously was abused as a child and is codependent. Very, very low self-esteem. Codependents inevitably attract NARCISSISTS!!! Until she heals from this, she will not be able to attract a decent guy who really loves her. Very sad. I sure hope she gets counseling.

She's one of the most honest ones in the show. She wasn't scammed for long and admits she was "addicted" to having his attention (who doesn't need a bit of that?) She's not delusional and understands something is wrong, despite the fact her environment might have led her to be a bit too trusting and too romantic. Hope she finds the companionship and happiness she's looking for, this time for real.
@TheFakeyCakeMaker Жыл бұрын
She is delusional she just doesn't want to spend the money. The reason she's not too suckered in is her devotion to her "church" and needing to be with someone who is part of it.

Sounds like she has already found companionship FIVE TIMES. Is it more likely that 5 separate men are all horrible or that she's the terrible one? Cause the common denominator is her.

Hi team! I had somebody try to wrap me up in a pig butcher scam. After he became abusive when I refused to trade on a fake site (I’m blonde not dumb) he became abusive to the point of wishing me death. I immediately thought of all the social catfish videos I’ve watched and I knew exactly what was happening: I was so sad and ashamed for a couple of days but now I’m grateful I didn’t fully fall for the con. Thanks team ❤

I understand why you would feel "stupid" for getting close to losing money, but you can't go through life suspecting everyone you meet (online or IRL). I'm glad you didn't lose money or let the experience turn you sour on all of humanity. I think most of us are decent even though we all are also capable of behaving badly at times. The percentage of truly despicable humans is very small, thank goodness!
