Yea. There's was a lot of edgy banter and one liners that just don't hit the same now. Some of them I think were changed. The yells and screams back then had so much energy like they were rock and roll stars or something. I even thought Jeice from the ginyu force was cool just because of how he introduced himself.

This is something Dragon Ball always got right, the pure revenge fantasy of seeing a smug villain finally get their comeuppance as they exhibit the same agony that they had been inflicting upon many an innocent victim. Compare that to a terrible show like The Boys were villains just die and they dont even show their expression or reaction

@@skullgreymon Standard antagonists are usually overconfident and arrogant since they believe that all outcomes will be in their favor due to their self-assessed 'power' and 'superiority'... until they lose, or are about to lose. Turles was a good example. I never read the comics, but I'm confident Toriyama as well as the animation team understood that well.

Funimation's sound mixing is still horrible! Worse these days I find. The characters sound like they're in a sound booth; they don't even try. I always have said Ocean's sound mixing is so good, for years!! These days, comments are so much more appreciative of these guys compared to a decade or so ago. Their talent is just so good! Shame we will never get a full Ocean dub of Dragon Ball while the actors still could do it and are alive... :(

I get nostalgia with pioneer turles scream but even i have to admit that the original takes the cake.

I think this movie is a rare case where I didn't even hear the JP dub (just clips from old AMVs from before it came stateside) for it. Not too interested in hearing him by the granny (if that is the case **and it is damn likely**). Really stretch that one thin. Granted, Black was fine.

@deionpehowdy nah look at that small fraction of power goku gave krillin and look at how it severely damaged vegeta ...Eventhough the movie was non canon Turles was powered from the fruit of the tree of might and easily beat Goku whos power level was 30,000 ... so full power would've definitely killed Vegeta who was 18,000

In the movies the timeline makes no sense like Tree of might, world strongest, lord slug and more of course but enemies like Turles and Dr.Willow would have had to have taken the spirit bombs after vegeta cause in the show the next time Goku uses the spirit bomb is on Frieza right after Vegeta so you can imagine the problem that would be.

I think the Buu and Shen Long spirtbomb also lifted the enemy in the air so it's not exclusively the original. Buti to answer your question in the most logical way; so they don't explode the planet when it has contract with the ground

I have wondered that myself a few years back actually, but to Goku instead of Jiren. It only hurts people with an evil heart, so why did it hurt Goku when it was thrown back at him? Why would Goku be worried about the spirit bomb affecting him if he had a pure heart? True, Goku wouldn't have known that Jiren had a little bit of evil within him but I guess he had to use it because Jiren was the most powerful being he has ever faced so lets do it.

@@skullgreymon i think the bomb is able to hurt anyone now that it went from a small, handheld ball of energy to an unbelievably massive sphere. it might deal more damage to evil people, but no one is gonna be able to tank that without taking some damage. also, goku was in ssjb when he got hit, which is not a purehearted form (should be because ssj was mastered and blue is just ssj with god energy, but oh well)

Nah, jiren wanted to attack goku's friends. I assume it's like devilmite beam or nimbus cloud where it needs purity to work. Though jiren did reflect on goku so you never know what they're gonna retcon like vegito being temporary.
