These are very interesting books. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on them. I also watch everything with David Tennant 😊

I hope you get to read it one day! Trollope is wonderfully cozy and has a delightfully progressive way of drawing whole, complex, relatable human beings.

Have fun with Anthony Trollope, he's such a wonderful writer ! I read The doctor's wife and moderately liked it, except for the character of Sigismund Smith - he's great fun.

I definitely do want to read The Doctor's Wife one day, especially for someone with as great a name as Sigismund Smith.

I’m so excited for Viktober! I’m not following the prompts but hope to read Far from the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy, Great Expectations, and (re-read) Jane Eyre. I’ve never read any Hardy before.

I hope you enjoy Far From the Madding Crowd! It's probably my favorite Hardy novel, and it's one of his more cheerful, too.

I buddy read He Knew He Was Right with a friend a couple of years ago and we had great fun discussing it! It explores themes of marriage, the position of women, mental health...etc. in a way we found surprisingly progressive for that era and for a self described "conservative liberal". The characters' actions can be extremely frustrating yes, but that wasn't off-putting for us because of how well written & rounded they are and how invested in the story we were. Also, there's a character called Jemima Stanbury who is SUCH A TREAT!! 🤣🤣 I'd read the book just for her 😂 I also read The Doctor's Wife last year and loved it! But don't go in expecting a pacey thriller like Lady Audley's Secret was. In my opinion, it's a book to savor and lose yourself in rather than a fun fast-paced ride Happy Victober Eve 😃

That sounds wonderful! I'm finding that Trollope was incredibly progressive for his time - because he thought in terms of real humans.

Oh I remember David Tenant as the clergyman! I liked that book better on second reading actually. As for plays, I am going to binge on Oscar Wilde and go for The Doctor's Wife.

Great tbr! I appreciate your picks being on the shorter side, even if it wasn't on purpose. I've been reading shorter books lately and enjoying that aspect. I feel so pulled in different direction with my reading mood lately. I'm enjoying my reading but it's not leaning very Victorian, hopefully it'll shift during the month!

Hi Heather, I'll check out The Struggles of Brown Jones and Robinson. I know I said I was going to start the Chronicles of Barsetire but I need to stick to my 600pg Classics boundry. My booktube friend Gina Stanyer just read The Semi Detached House wich you hauled. So I'm going to try Emily Eden. My husband has COVID and I don't have the bandwith for Trollope's The Claverings that Gina read in January. My other Oct books are cozy autumnal reads.

I hope your husband heals quickly, but enjoy The Semi-Detached House! I hope you enjoy it (it *may* determine if it moves up or down my priority list).
