On the vertical integration point, or "why you should build factories where their rgo's are produced", I agree with you 100% when it comes to resource-sparse regions. There are, however, two caveats: resource-rich areas, and eventual total industrialization. For resource-rich areas, it actually pays off a lot to go for vertical integration, as, when the lack for resources is less of a problem, the vertical integration means all the pops are more productive overall, since the craftsmen get the results of more efficient labourers in the factories, leading to better productivity overall. On the other hand, if you plan to eventually build up all your states, it is better to use vertical integrarion than not, since that adds to the first point on the increased labourer productivity when you are to have less labourers anyways. That said, this can easily wait for mid-late game In short, using that feature optimally is a very nuanced question, and one where multiple opinions are sometimes valid, especially for wildly different situations.
@enochinri Жыл бұрын
Genuinely thank you for this thought-provoking comment. If you are getting resources from spheres, puppets, or colonial states that cannot become cores it is clear that vertical integration is the most efficient method due to getting the bonus from throughput. I would still say that if you are a secondary or minor power, your primary focus should be on highly-populated states over everything else. I always know that with a game this complicated there are levels of granularity and it is cool seeing people's reasoning. In the back of my mind, I am always unsure of if I am leaving something out when it comes to this kind of thing, you have seriously clarified this for me.

Two things 1. With Portugal and their starting lands you can get most of Africa. There is a video of this subject and I think you should do that 2. Immigrant assimilation and the craftsmen exploit. How does assimilation work, if a old world nation takes a state in the new world does it get assimilation bonuses. How do you do the craftsmen exploit (culture convert)
@enochinri2 жыл бұрын
1 is definitely something I'd like to try out, and 2 I will address not in this video but probably in the one after that. Craftsman exploit is probably the most important bug (feature) in Vic 2 vanilla because it can be a blessing or a curse
@bo1bo1bo1unlosode2 жыл бұрын
Yes the old world nation gets the assimilation bonuses but you won’t assimilate the locals due to the cores and not getting any immigrants because the inmigrations are based on where your capital is which is why i like to always mod Washington DC to either Africa or Europe (you literally just have go cut and paste the province ID in the same file) so that the USA results as a normal New world nation

One thing I’ve done when in very “iffy” income situations early on is to encourage bureaucrats before Intellectuals, at least until the number goes red - sometimes taxes are just being left uncollected.

how does the naval range work? i play argentina too (im newbie lol) should i just max the south georgia base level or does continental bases matter too? also that colonial power showing below the military score, how does one raise that ?
@enochinri Жыл бұрын
You wanna max out all of your naval bases. Colonial states give you less colonial power when building bases, but still a substantial amount. Colonial power is directly tied to ships you build as you can see here: vic2.paradoxwikis.com/Colonization Ironclads are the best bang for your buck as far as how the game caps your navy, but tend to be very expensive. If money is no object, go for ironclads, but I personally end up just building a shitton of commerce raiders/ frigates. A shitty navy is better than no navy at all in regard to this

YES. MOOOOORE. In all seriousness as a noob can you do a Russia game? I just want to see what you do with it
@thatonedudenextdoor78402 жыл бұрын
Yea you can. I'd argue that Russia is one of the easier great powers to play actually. One way you can be successful as Russia is by spending the first decades focusing on clergymen in your most populous states and getting the techs that give you more focuses and an education bonus as well as the medicine for the pop growth. This increases your literacy rate. Afterwards, industrialise by building lots of glass factories, taking advantage of your coal production and build liquor distilleries. Russia can become incredibly rich through the production and sale of liquor. Of course also build other industries, steel and guns, fertilizer, all of it, but you'll make lots of money through liquor. When it comes to wars, Russia can expand into almost any direction. You can fight Sweden for control of the Baltic sea, fight Prussia early on for control over Poland and to prevent them from forming NGE and Germany, you can fight Austria over their polish provinces and then go and liberate your Slavic brothers in Bohemia and Slovakia, you can just punch down on the ottoman empire until there's nothing left of them or you can go fight the Persian and Central Asian nations to get access to the Indian Ocean and then there's of course also East Asia, full of easy to defeat unciv nations if you so wish. If you want you can go colonial though it isnt the easiest as Russia. Conquer Persian ports in the Indian Ocean, hop over the strait of Hormuz and conquer oman for a foothold in Africa, land in Ethiopia and Egypt and make your way north and you'll get the pretty rich lands of East Africa. Or use Alaska as a basis to fight the British over Canada, but be warned, that path can be pretty challenging. Russia has a lot of options and a lot of ways it can go. It is large so even if you fuck up you'll probably not lose a lot of land and will be able to recover. You have all the resources you need to industrialise and drown the world in Vodka to make money. There is few things Russia cant do and it is a pretty fun campaign too. I highly recommend playing Russia in this game, regardless of your skill level.
