In this video, we explore the complexities of Victoria 3 and answer the burning question: Is it fun? I break down the game’s systems, from the politics and rebellions to construction and diplomacy, and analyze why some aspects feel less interactive or historically inaccurate. Despite its flaws, Victoria 3 remains a unique experience, offering players a chance to manage a nation through the Industrial Revolution and political upheavals. Join me as I discuss what works, what doesn’t, and what the developers are doing to improve the game moving forward. Whether you're a long-time fan of Paradox games or curious about Victoria 3, this is the video for you!

But isn't it just realistic politics for a Tsar still to have to manage Interest groups? No one rules alone

Definitely they still have to account for what other factions in the country want but I think the game can already simulate that by having a huge increase of radicals if an absolute monarch were too pass an unpopular law. I understand that it could just be an abstraction of an absolute ruler actually making the law workable with in the country’s current legal system but it should be a different system than what democracy’s deal with in the game. It already somewhat models this by having an in game event where if you have an autocratic government you can skip to the next phase when passing a law but it decreases approval of certain interests groups I think the law system should just be like that instead of having to the 3 rng game if you have an autocratic government. One of the more commonly cited upsides of dictatorships is that decisions can be made quickly without having to consult a bunch of different people and I think that should be in the game. When napoleon wanted something done he didn’t have to get anyone’s say so even to his own detriment like when he made the executive decision to install his brother on the Spanish throne that obviously upset his cabinet and the people of Spain but he still made the decision and it was executed according to his will.

@@Conduit999 i think that's definetly a valid point, but then there should likely be a trade off, like not being able to have opposing factions in your goverment. Trade unions vs Industrualists for example, or maybe not be able to have trade unions at all idk

Honestly, over my time playing what i found is that there is one reason for the sameyness of all the games. No global market. The trade is so annoying i just end up playing every nation the same. Build up yhr construction and rush it, all the other stuf if just side stuff to bulding coal/sulfur/iron mines and expanding tooling. Compare that to vic 2 where you can specialize.

The game is really weird in the way that you can’t have an export economy I hate how the game decides how much you can trade with other countries by deciding what level the trade route is at. The way they simulate trade in game is not even close to realistic nor is it even a fun addition to the game I also hate how you have to individually set up trade routes why aren’t factory owners autonomously setting up trade routes if goods are expensive.

Yeah the world is very stable when it really shouldn’t be it’s very weird how Russia stays an autocrat monarchy basically the whole game and Germany rarely forms it feels like nationalism is non existent meanwhile in Victoria 2 it was a huge deal and really shook up the whole game
