Great overview. I have been running The Copper into my studio rig for the last year or so - great Vox / Chimey sound on tap. Keen to buy a Duchess Amp + Cab at some point - I think that would be a nice 'live' pairing. Just a thought - the Effectrode Blackbird is also a nice 'pre-amp' style pedal if you want a more Fender / Dimble sound going into the desk (doesn't have the 4 cable thing, though).

To me 50% of an ac30 is preamp and 50% is cathode biased el84s breaking up and the speakers. I have an ac50 which is basically the same preamp (slight changes) but fixed biased el34s and through a Marshall 412 it has voxyness but sounds quite different to an ac30 with blues.

@@JimijaymesProductions AC30's have a vey distinct sound, I can't think of anything that sounds like them, even the AC15 doesn't sound like them imo.

Careful with footwitches! They’re not all compatible: some are momentary switches that toggle a relay in the amp (switch is not on/off, just a toggle button) and some are latching switches (hard switching in the pedal, switch is either open or closed). Dunno about Victory, but Peavey and Marshall use different types!
@TeslaOsiris4 жыл бұрын
The V4 manual says you have to use a latching TRS switch

@rangerdoc10294 жыл бұрын
Victory gets it. With nearly everyone going direct into IRs, why mess with power sections & load boxes anymore?
@AnthonyJamesArtist3 жыл бұрын

@tunesmith74374 жыл бұрын
Why did you not employ it as a virtual amp plugged straight into a PA or Board?
@andertons4 жыл бұрын
You could do that if you wanted to - I think Rabea normally does his videos like this, so go see if he's filmed this one yet. He's certainly filmed some of the other V4 pedals in the past.
@EastBayBlue4 жыл бұрын
Captain, when demoing amps, it would nice if you’d emulate tones from popular songs. Just ruffing doesn’t relate the amp’s capability. I.e. How well will it reproduce a Fender 57’ Tweed, or a Marshall Plexi, or a VOX AC30?
@timmypix4 жыл бұрын
I think the video's pretty clear that this is a Vox-style pre-amp. It's not going to emulate a Fender tweed or a Plexi.

Hello! I am just wondering what the purpose of preamp pedals are and what they do? And could this pedal be used with any amp? I’m not good with pedals, and am just getting into them, but if I had a blues jr, could I use this pedal to get it to sound like the copper? Not that I don’t like the sound of a blues jr, just interested. Thank you!

Just to add.... the V4 really isn't "a pedal" - although it works plugged in to the front of an amp, its much better straight in to the power amp, or in to a desk (with a cab sim).

Why would I buy this when I could get a second hand AC15...etc, for cheaper?
@frmcf4 жыл бұрын
The pedal’s a lot lighter! If your main amp’s a Marshall or a Fender but you want a Vox sound as well, this saves you lugging two heads around. Of course you’re still running the same power amp and speaker, but that’s the compromise. And you don’t have to mic it up to record with.
@andertons4 жыл бұрын
Last time I tried, I couldn't fit an AC15 on to a pedal board.... :)
@mrtelechi4 жыл бұрын
@@andertons All the times I have left positive feedback and this is the only time you answer?...lol.. Yeah, but you still have to have an amp, so that blows that out of the water, because even if it's solid state, you still can't fit it onto your pedalboard. Superb videos though.
@chrisjs61234 жыл бұрын
For me it’s simple, I can run it into my V40D and get the sound without adding another amp to my room. Secondly I can run this into a reverb pedal into my Seymour Duncan Powerstage200 and I have a complete rig on a Pedaltrain nano which I can plug into any cab or run DI. But yeah if you don’t have that kit already and just want an amp. Maybe a second hand AC15 makes way more sense.
