Nice coins. The 1942-D, despite a mintage of only 18 million, is somewhat scarce in uncirculated since they were not hoarded like the silver 1942-P and 1942-S. 1943-D is the lowest minted WW2 nickel at only 15 million, but was somehow the most-hoarded one, and it is relatively common in high grades with full-steps. You are correct that there are no scarcities in the series; but if you consider full-steps it's a different story. 1945-S is the hardest WW2 nickel to find with full-steps, followed by 1944-S. 1945-P is the toughest to fin in Gem or higher grades.

On the coin with the die crack, I don't suppose that's actually the start of a lamination? I know the wartime nickels were more susceptible to that than otherwise. A peeling lamination would appear raised as well.

I think that if the crack on the 42 is raised. Then it's a die crack

Lad the 42-Ds we’re all still nickel while the Ps were both. The S were all silver. All those nickels are better than my album fillers, I gots a way to go👍

As am I, but had to refocus after returning to the UK as I found upgrading my US collection pretty hard so my focus is Pre Decimal British coinage whilst attempting to complete my Kennedy & Jefferson collection.
