My engine just went out & my mechanics quoting me $3500+ to fix it! I have a 2007 Mazda 6 4-Cyl, 2.3 Liter engine. I am looking at videos just to see if it’s possible for me to do it on my own. Any advice appreciated !

Hey, thank you for watching and taking a second to ask. I would say that you’ll never learn if you don’t try. If you have an engine hoist and some basic tools then you should be able to handle the job. It’s just time consuming. If you’ve never done a project like yours make sure to be patient and give yourself some grace. I’m hoping to have the third video out soon. It’s been a while but finally getting finished up. You got this!

Sorry to bother, like I said, I am in the middle of working on my Mazda. After taking the starter out and inspecting the fly wheel as I spin it, i’m noticing I don’t have the same flywheel bolts. There are no bolts. The only difference with your car and mine is that I have the speed 6 2.3 turbocharged. With the 6 speed manual so I’m going to assume that’s why lol. After taking the transmission bell housing bolts out I’m having trouble getting the engine to disconnect from the transmission. Any tips? When you get time

Also if you can recall, how many bolts did you take out of the bell housing to the engine. I’d hate to just be overlooking

@@jaredbrown6895 , I had seven bolts on the bell housing, not including the starter. As for tips, if it’s got any lift pressure between the engine and transmission it will not come free easily. They have to be really well aligned, if you have the alignment tool I’ve had success inserting it and it made separation easier depending on the set up. To be honest I have not done a swap on a “manual” Mazda though. Hopefully there is something here that helps. Keep me posted!

I had mazda 6 2009 2.5 engine ltr and really hard to find that engine here in my country been 2 months now sins they fixing it so they recommend me to use 2.3 ltr engine which is only available here,Do u think it could work?please response

Thank you so much for watching. I’m actually in the process of finishing up the editing. My Father in law passed the December after I posted the 2nd video followed by my Mom in January. To be honest it really put me in a rut. Except for a few real quick easy projects I’ve just started getting my ‘real’ projects finished up. Sorry for the heavy reply. Really glad you reached out. why was it loosing all the oil ? i want to change the headgasket on mine

These are pretty notorious for bad valve cover gasket seal. Pretty common for people to “tighten” when they start leaking. At that point they just need to be changed, tightening actually makes it worse. Rubber gasket flattens out. Appreciate you checking in, good luck on the head gasket, good project to take on.

@@flippinnuts1 yea, thanks, i got the 1.8L petrol engine and it drinks oil and i get frequent error codes on sylinder 3, i changed alott of things but i have now backed the car into the garage and is gonna just swap out the headgasket :), thinking of changing the water pump and other things while im at it.

@@lol2k77 I hear you. Good on ya sir! If you can post video it’d probably help a lot of folks. Pretty common repairs on these but not a lot of video. If you are taking the head off no doubt that water pump is a good thing to replace. Sure you already checked the coil on 3. Be interested to hear how it turns out too. 🍻
