Video Games are okay to play if you: 1) Have a job & earn good money 2) Exercise regularly 3) Have friends 4) Are satisfied with your dating life 5) Finished all your work for the day 6) Are making progress towards your goals in life Agree or disagree?

As a gamer, I try to restrict myself to single player games so if I play excessively, I'll realize "dude I've talked to nobody all week" and feel motivation to get out of my apartment. Multiplayer games I try to avoid since a lot of new ones nowadays use FOMO, the fear of missing out along with other strategies to keep you hooked for hours.

It’s funny, I did the opposite. I love competitive games, so I’d get addicted and try to rank up as much as possible and I’d have to stop playing with my friends because they couldn’t keep up. Then I made it a rule that I had to play games that I was interested in with friends because they’re more enjoyable. Eventually it got to the point where there are almost no games I was interested in or had the time. Now I rarely play video games at all because I’d rather put that energy into building something that lasts. Still have a KZbin addiction though 😂

Im 23, I used to play video games all day everyday but in the last two years I’ve dialed it down to about 3 hours a week or so. This isn’t by choice, it’s because I’ve become very busy chasing goals and I can say that there’s nothing wrong with gaming. Just make sure you do it after you’ve accomplished everything else scheduled that day. Use it as a treat

I’m 22, I still play games good amount of time because I’m night shift but,I agree that games should only be allowed when you get everything done and no gaming on workdays for me or else I feel like crap. If I play way too much(1-2hours) it’s guaranteed i probably won’t get anything productive done.

When I was 12 years old playing Destiny 1, a game called SMITE released on Xbox. From 2015 to now I have spent almost 10000 hours on the game. I reached the highest rank multiple times, learned everything about every character, and “pwned all the noobs” thousands of times. I’m 21 now and I finally put the game down. While there were many good times and I met many cool people and friends that I still talk to, I seriously wish I never started. If I put all the time and effort I put into becoming grandmaster in smite into doing anything else, I’d be a professional at something that matters. If you’re 12 or 13 playing games all day when you get home from school, know that some day games will not satisfy your urge to succeed in the world. Pick up an instrument, start making art, or do anything else that calls you.

I'm 15 turning 16 in a couple of months You mentioned that one of the reasons younger men don't get girlfriends is because they're always playing videogames. Still, one of the main ways I connected more with my first girlfriend was by playing a drawing game with her online since it was the school holidays so the time we spent together in person shrunk.

30 years young over here. What’s funny I’ve actually lost a lot of interest playing video games. There’s two main reasons, 1: I’ve gotten older and their not as interesting to me anymore. 2: These “Triple A” companies are so scummy and greedy the industry isn’t the same as it was compared to 10 years ago. (They’ve completely butchered my love and passion for gaming) Perfect example is the recent release of the Battlefront Classic Collection. I stopped pre-ordering games since Cyberpunk back in 2020.

27 and I'm in the same spot. I'm at a point where I don't enjoy multiplayer games anymore and I can barely pull myself to finish story modes and achievements. Pre-ordering games used to be cool since it was usually nothing more than a little bonus cosmetic or worthwhile early access, now it's a borderline scam to pre-order because of how rampant unfinished and unpolished game releases has gotten.

I remember the days when I would play COD for hours every day after high school. Age 30 now, the usual grind with COD games wore off quite a few years ago. I’m quite into games that challenge your intellect like Portal and games similar to that. Lately I’ve gotten back into playing Trials. It’s addicting trying to get a new personal best on tracks, or even just pass the extreme tracks. I usually know when to quit on a level, but other times I feel like I have to pry myself away from it. My disability affects things though, I’ve gotten too weak for many of my hobbies I had. I still have some left, but it’s limited. I want to level up in life, but it sure can be challenging when this disease seems to sap away at it. But you have excellent advice, Denmo. Many people should hear this.

When you speak about the sixth point, specifically the part where you get into the 'online therapy' hub where everyone kinda just talks about their day, I'm confused about the negatives of that one, if me and my friends all get together in Minecraft for example for once or twice a week, and just play and talk about our day, the only negative thing I could see is that we're not physically together, but that's not always easy, so I'm partly confused. Is it just because it can cause the other steps to take place? Because it seems that I skipped every step and went to stage six, or at least I am not a victim of those previous steps anymore, because I spend a few says each fortnight talking to my friends online, but I still make new friends outside of videogames and social media.

I am addicted to the competition of Halo, when I was 15 I was semi pro and then I discovered weed and girls and stopped playing. I realized that i had the choice to go pro if I continued but I reflected on what that lifestyle would be like and it was not the life I wanted for myself. Of course all my old teammates and online friends went pro after I quit and one of them is on faze clan (Royal 2). I didn’t play for like 13 years but started again a couple of years ago and now that I made some really good friends who are also musicians and competitive i find it hard to quit. I think I’m still chasing that rush of wanting to go pro. Even though it’s still not the lifestyle I want. I have big goals and dreams for my business and band and have already accomplished a lot but I imagine what I could do if I stopped playing and used that time to grind on my business. So thanks for making this video to yell at me to quit

17:30 made me laugh so hard. Thank you for this video, Denmo. I definitely have a problem with number 1. I'm 21 and in college and a lot of my buddies play videogames and I genuinely like them but since they all go to different schools, i can only really interact with them through discord and shit. But I've got a lot of great friends at my university that i go on hikes with and do club activities for school with, so it's not all bad. I also have a limit set for an hour and 30 minutes that locks me out of discord, so i don't spend too much time on it. I don't know if that's just putting a band-aid on a giant bleeding wound, but it's a start.

I am pretty addicted to video games and have been playing since I was in the single digit years. I’m currently 28 years old and I wish I could take all the days back that I’ve played video games besides like the modern warfare 2 2009 times. Those will always be my favorite. When I still lived in my hometown, I would play video games because I feel like it was fun and it would prevent me from going out and spending money. Now that I’ve moved out of my hometown and halfway across the country. I find myself playing video games because I don’t know anyone here. So, instead of venturing out and trying to make new friends I’m just stuck playing video games. I would like to join this run club where there is both guys and girls, but I find myself stuck in the online world.

The only videogames I really still enjoy playing are strategy games. And I dont mean the clash of clans or clash royale type of "strategy" game. I mean games that are basically upgraded versions of chess, like risk or empire at war. The type of games that actually challenge you mentally. All these mindless shooters never really impressed me, but I was never really good at them anyways. Only rarely do I make an exception so can experience a good story but thats it really. Even then I would have preffered to just watch a movie based on that plot to be honest.

I can't get immersed in video games anymore because there's always a nagging voice in my head telling me that i don't deserve it. Occasionally there are days i feel satisfied enough with what I've done with my day to let my hair down and play and it'll feel like a lifetime of dopamine bliss 😊 Now I exercise 5 x weekly, I earn a slightly higher than average income in my country but my dating life sucks and i feel it is due to the fact that i spent most of my free time on video games growing up instead of spending time outside. I'm being positive and I'm always finding new ways to approach things differently. Heres hoping i can find a gym baddie soon 🤞

Im 13, pretty young, i think? But anyways, If you guys havent tried it, i do reccomend game development. It's not really the same, but, the rush and the dopamine when you get something working is enrapturing, and, its doing something productive, thats also, my passion.

Exactly hence why making a game is more important than playing it. Meaning that playing it it’s a reward meant for making a game that’s what it should be like back in the day.

I'm 15 turning 16 in a couple of months So is it bad for me to play Minecraft with my friends? I like to play it, but I don't play it much because I prioritize schoolwork, and then play when I'm finished, my made the server last week using money she got from her birthday so we could all play together. Other than that the only other time I play games is with my little sister because I can't tell her not to play games, so I make sure she's not playing bad ones by being there as well. The one type of game I completely ignore is mobile games, I have 4, only used 3, one is a learning game, and I haven't touched since last year, and have no interest in playing them or downloading more, my friends play a lot of mobile games, but to prevent myself from feeling left out, I just get them to talk to me about the game, rather than me downloading it for myself.

So true...Dude I used to play so much gta online around my teenage that got pratically everything of the game: Every businesses at Max level, every properties, almost of all the cars/bikes/planes/boats and even a Yactch (and all that playing by honest way, with no mods or glitch tricks). I was literally like a fucking Dan Bilzerian on that game lol. But all the time that i've spent on playing doesn't pay it, even knowing that I got lots of funny stories with friends, most of the time it felt like going to a job, to get more money and RP to buy some shit vehicle that i wasn't going use anymore on a few minutes later. It was a grinding torture. I never was a addicted guy to the point of "just playing videogames", at the time i also went to the gym and had a lot of another hobbies, but I realized that i was soon becoming a recluded person, because sometimes i just wanted to do something different, hang out to a new place, meet new people, and i would never do that because i was stuck on a circle of people that was just playing it all the weekend. I was also always feeling bad for playing videogames and soon they became like a burden to me, as i was playing them because i didn't had anything better to do, throwing all my youth away on trash, sitting all the weekend on a sofa and doing the same shit. To my lucky (or not lol) my ps4 had a terminal overheating problem (probably because of the big time me and my brother spent playing it for 7 years). When it happened i got sad on the first weeks, but soon i realized it wasn't that bad at all, because i was starting to have new hobbies, meeting new people and hanging out with them, increasing my social skills a lot. I used to be a very shy guy, and now i think i've bacame the complete opposite of that. It had passed almost 3 years since I had played videogame for the last time, sometimes I miss the Funny moments (Oh Lord how I miss them XD) but at the same time i feel myself as a far better and interesting person today than the guy I was back then. I plan to come back to have an active gamer life sometime in the future(only with single player games) but first i wan't to solve and improve some things on my academic/professional life, and also know the right girl to spend the life with. Guys have in mind, stopping with the addiction it's just the beggining, but the freedom you feels breaking that vice, will make you feel better on every next second of your life.

Back in the late 2000s I was very much addicted to games. They had their place for me at the time but now in 2024 they're not a priority. If I could have my time again I'd have invested the time I spent on COD and WoW in to studying for IT certs. I've acquired 8 in the last three years and I currently earn more than I have before. I also have a girlfriend and run 4 times a week. I still have steam and am currently playing through all the Halo games on legendary, but that's basically become a Sunday afternoon thing. I am 39.

As a 14 year old, I just feel limited. People my age are just addicted to minecraft and watching hentai all day. Girls arent mature enough either. I just feel like im mentally superior already, thus its very hard to find a girl that meets my standards. Cold approaching is harder to, because girls at especially this age dont go out that much. Dont really feel like theres an achievable and reliable way to pick up girls my age, which sucks cuz I crave love too.

I'm at the point of my life where I'm tired of playing video games on the weekend. I'm 29 and Friday nights all my friends want to do is hop online and play all night long. I sit in a office staring at a computer screen 5 days a week I kind of want to gtfo of my apartment and do other things, socialize with people. Like I get they don't want to go to bars and drinking but they're all drinking anyways in their rooms while playing games, can we just do something else? sports, dancing, poker, just anything else? At least at the bar we can socialize with girls, right now we are just alone in our rooms drinking anyways. I probably just need to go out myself and find new friends, easier said than done though at this age.

You can make video games and coding and stream video games making money rather than playing video games all day and not getting anything done. You don’t have to play video games you can make them if you didn’t know or stream them unless if you not interested in video games then you can stop them or just reduce them to 1-2 hours week.
