Unable to connect with your link from the USA, I searched Amazon for Gula Melaka and found several brands, but the one that appears to be your preferred brand is made by Nona Manis from Malaysia. The packaging is different and the price is midrange. What do you think?

Hi B Parrish, thank you for letting me know 😀 I'm not sure why the link does not work from the USA - it works here. In any case, the link provided to the seller only ships to Malaysia. I've checked out Nona Manis in Amazon; from the picture, it looks correct. However, it would also be a gamble for me as I've not ordered from them before. Do note that they are not the same seller as the brand ("Kuih Bahulu") and Nona Manis are different. Perhaps a small quantity of gula melaka can be bought to test first? Hope it helps 😀

@@HomeCookingwithSomjit , thank you for replying and covering this ingredient in such great detail. Truly, there are huge differences in the purity of palm sugar. I’ve seen some decent videos from Thailand covering various manufacturing techniques and I think yours simplifies it for those who simply want to hear from someone who knows their subject.

Thank you for the comment 😀 Yes, there are differences in purity as different manufacturers have different ways of making it. Unfortunately, we can only trial and error until we find a brand whose quality we are happy with. Hope it helps 😀

i've added, try adding tamarind + gula melaka to your maggi curry and it'll taste like fish curry
