The problem is, how do you inform all the boaters that a lake is closed? I fly tankers for a living. We often get dispatched to a fire with minutes of notice and pick a suitable lake on the spot once we arrive and consider the available options. Common sense has to prevail, but unfortunately, common sense doesn't seem to be as common as its name suggests. There's nothing more annoying than a boat that gets in our way when scooping, knowing full well that we are there and why. It puts our lives and their own in danger.

Seriously my “good” camera has been collecting dust for 5 years. Best camera is the one that you have with you.. and the most important thing about photos or videos is subject, lighting, and composition. I’ve seen so many dads juggling lenses and cameras while their kids are getting better shots with their iPhones and actually having fun.

this is what happens when our government cares more about tourists. they refuse to close the waters and keep people off. it was refreshing to see that the town of Williams Lake actually took that step and closed the lake to all recreation, so the planes could use the lake.

I’d never condone boating where there are tankers but that boat was a long way off from that tanker. It’s the camera perspective that makes it closer than it is.

Possibly, but the you can clearly see the airplane pilot start to take evasive maneuvers so they obviously felt it was a threat to them. That plane isn't exactly moving slowly either and would cover the distance very quickly. Regardless the boater was behaving recklessly at best and needs to be fined.

The pilots job is hard enough without wankers like this making it much worse. The pilot would have no idea of what the boat will do and at 100+ knots, would have only a couple of seconds to decide on evasive actions. If water bombers are on the lake, boats have NO business being anywhere near.
