I've been watching a lot of the beginning filet tutorials. This is the one that I actually understood. Thanks!

Working with thread isn't really as complex as a lot of folks think. I found it really de-mystified by working myself down in yarn. Started with ww and worked down the line with successively smaller yarns to threads, and corresponding hooks. Once the thread felt comfortable, the crochet was just as fun and easy with thread as it is with yarn. Thanks for putting this out there!

Hi, thank you for your video, after doing my first baby blanket with wool I wasn't very happy with the way it turned out, you couldn't see the picture very well just like yours, so I had an idea to change the stitches around so the background was all double crochet & the picture was the mesh. It turned out great & you can see the picture plus its warmer to.

I had seen so many filet crochet videos and I got so lost. Thank goodness I bumped into your video. You explained so well. One thing I realized was you did your pattern harder than what it should be. Instead of staggering you can multiply your blocks x2 then add the ch2. Can you please show a video on how to filet crochet a motif triangle shawl? I'm for the first time ever going to attempt to make and read one. I'm just kinda thinking that on the triangle we need to decrease each time we start a new row? Wish me luck.

You can use Excel to make a graph chart. All you have to do is adjust the column width and put borders in and print!
@13Moondancer5 жыл бұрын
I tried that but couldn’t get the lines to print. Argh.
@playhooky4 жыл бұрын
@@13Moondancer You have to use/add the "borders" on your excel chart. you can do a search on youtube to learn how to do that; it's very easy - you can do it!

x =number of spaces you want 2x+2 = number of stiches in base chain.
@roedhunt7 жыл бұрын
I think for me why I find it hard is - is each space 2 (dc + chain) and the block is two dc then is the next stitch after a space another dc that begins the block or does the space begin with the chain and end with a dc. So then is it really THREE dc and a space?

I know when I was beading I used a program that turned any pic into a graph and gave colour sugestions. Might help while you are looking for software. Like : bead tool

Cris I have just bought a book on filet crochet and for the amount of chain you need you double the number, but it doesn't say anything about adding chain on and you do so I'm confused on u tube you needed 26 but you added on 2 chain to make it 28 how do I know how many to add on?
@kimiandersonrocks6 жыл бұрын
The added 2 are just for the turning chain.

I actually do not know of any charting software although I'm sure there has to be something out there. I think there was an app in the android store for that but it wasn't free so I didn't get it :(

Never in my 40+ years of crocheting have I heard of filet squares just being a dc & only 1 chain space; it is normally 2 chains, for a total of 3 stitches per square. That said, there are no crochet laws or crochet police! lol - which is why I chose my username years ago - to allow myself to play & explore with my crocheting.

I wanted to learn filet crochet and that’s why I am here, however, I just realized I made a curtain using filet crochet without even knowing I was using it
