Director/ editor of video here :)) So happy you picked up on a lot Was keen to make something that visually represented the parasocial relationship between him and his fans, placing him on a pedestal and have him 'look down' to the audience as he ironcally brags. The camera was actually on an RC car driving under the glass, all heavily choreographed to the track as the car enters and exits. The track uses these super '''obvious"'' synths and intentionally shallow lyrics ( on surface level) that the artist was previously cautious of using but for this release is just like 'fuck it' so we decided to use the most cliché obvious objects of celebration / 'fuck it who cares' (baloons skywriting confetti etc) but film it in this intentional thoughtful way akin to the lyrics, hyper shallow but upon more inspection has a strong sense of intention Sorry typed on phone not enough punctuation thanks for covering the vid

footnote we were celebrating because we only had two shots at the baloon moment lol

Yo! I was the camera operator on this and I really enjoyed your take on the video! Figured I'd throw in a few things to confirm/elaborate on what you talked about: - yep, the name at the beginning was indeed a decal put onto the plexiglass. We tried to do everything in camera :) - the set was constructed on top of a parking garage in mexico city! We had amazing local crew from every dept that helped us pull this off! - the entire video was shot on a gimbal mounted to an RC car, no motion capture! I remotely operated from a monitor next to the set. Communication between the RC driver, directors, DP , FX etc was all crucial yet we still managed to get some freeform, improv shots that I think are some of the best in the video (foot double stomp, pan to the hand, etc) - the balloons were done with the help of on set sfx. They put a small charge and powder into the balloons that they remotely detonated on a cue! - the XD was def a real skywriter! Naa, I wish. Just good VFX :) - The directors (u n c a n n y ) did the editing and vfx (in like a week no less!) they're absolutely amazing! Cheers :)

He's actually standing on the Virtual Self stage! This was the stage used for the concerts played by his side project Virtual Self. If you're curious there are many recordings of the stage set you can look up and they almost all show the base of the stage being this glass with a grid of metal bars underneath

actual fact: the last shot of the video is Porter actually cutting his hand from pulling that red layer, and improvizing with dripping it over the glass at the end you can also even see him wiping it with other hand at last second

I loved the explanations in the important parts of the video. you learn a lot. By the way, in the description of the video, you can find literally all the people who worked on it (because you mention the editor).

I don't think the gun is actually shooting anything at all. I think theres just a small explosive charge in the baloon/balloons that makes them pop and is synced up to the music. And Porter is just syncing is movements to the music to match that too.

Sorry if its rude to ask right away! but i´d love for you to react to ´´Night heights'' by Jain. The visuals in that music video are insane and I like the way you explain everything and how they do those effects. Keep it up!

You’ve missed out but still have a chance to react to IUs Love Wins All, that has blown people away, less for the glitz of kpop, more for serious artistry, storytelling and movie making

You should react to Wonder by Shawn mendes, you would love the camera work and visuals

you should react to Earth Wind and Fire by Boynextdoor, it's a kpop song but the editing in that video is crazy
