For those of you curious. The reason why Kratos reacted so harshly to the implication that the Aesir harmed a guest is because in Greece, hospitality is very sacred. Even in the Laconic City of Sparta.
@kinagrill
@kinagrill 8 ай бұрын
A tradition that became part of the Roman empire and even survived into the middle ages of knights and such where Hospitality was a basic 'law' that if you broke it, you were if, lucky enough, a permanent social outcast. If not so lucky, you'd not be a knight anymore.
@BerryFruit
@BerryFruit 7 ай бұрын
Huh, I didn't know that. I assumed he reacted that way because when he learned of what happened between the Aesir and Freyr as a guest, Kratos may have thought of Atreus (since at this point in the story, Atreus is a guest in Asgard) and maybe started to "worry".

@@Bman32x That’s not necessarily true. There was a very robust trade network during the Bronze Age between England and Greece as Tin was a big export in the area and was key to creating bronze. So I’m rather surprised that there wasn’t at least some trade involving Olive Oil.

@@shock226 The Trojan War is that conflict depicted in the _Iliad_ and from which Odysseus gets lost trying to return home from in the _Odyssey._ It's basically World War Mythological Greece. Almost all the gods are involved in either side and every Greek kingdom comes together to attack Troy. It lasted ten years.
@frankwest5388

@@shock226 most famous fictional war in myth. Long story short, there was a war, where the invaders couldn’t breach the city walls and the defenders could get a solid position to break the siege. This ended when Odysseus (Greek Hero that is super clever) faked a surrender, where he left a massive wooden horse behind, claiming it was a symbol of their surrender. This tricked the Trojans into opening their gates and bringing the horse into their city walls. So, once their defense was down, a hidden hatch in the horse opened from inside, releasing dozens of Greek soldiers that used the confusion to open the gates and let everyone in, breaking the siege and winning the war. Every since the term “Trojan horse” gets used as a shorthand for something that looks good but in actuality will do harm

Yup. Some of Kratos' knowledge include: - Building and playing a lyre. - Vast knowledge of Greek theatre and literature. - Being the authority in terms of ideals such as vengeance and fighting fate. - Architecture, considering he built their house. - A skilled military leader, though that's pretty obvious from the first game.

Someone already gave a good explanation on why Kratos said that he likes the Leviathan Axe and I would like to point it out here too. It is obvious that Kratos would like the axe more than any other weapon because: 1. The axe was Faye's and it is the only memory he has left from her (well, apart from her ashes, of course) and 2. Atreus said he likes the axe and Kratos loves his son, thus it is plain obvious that Kratos wants to make him happy and, although he may not have a favourite weapon, it is enough to approve Atreus, because he knows that it would make him happy. Simple as that! To be honest, I love how Kratos went from "Zeus, your son has return! I bring the destruction of Olympus!" to "Loki will go. Atreus remains!". It is really wholesome and admirable at the same time!

I love the conversation of Atreus liking someone, especially the way Kratos asks “is there someone?”. He says with so much genuine curiosity, like he was caught off guard a bit by the idea of Atreus finding someone and is interested in learning who it might be that caught Atreus’s eye. He also sounds a bit concerned, partly because he’s not sure if this someone is a trustworthy person, but I think mostly because he’s asking himself “did I teach Atreus well enough to love?” As we know in the post game where he ask Mimir just that. Genuine curiosity, concern over the person trustworthiness, and of course if Atreus is prepared for love All that in the span of 3 words Laconic indeed (tho probably just me over analyzing)

Im a huge fan of the Arthurian pantheon, and when Cory Barlog said that all pantheons exist, i was worried the Arthurian one didnt make it. But after hearing Mimir talk about The Lady of the Lake(Nimue), i got all excited that King Arthur, Excalibur, Merlin, exist. Or at the very least, yet to exist.

I love Freya's story about Freyrs visit to alfheim. Her discription about how using a potent blend of Vanir herbs made him *wander*. Almost sounds like 'he was baked off his head and somehow ended up somewhere completely different'. Goodness the sheer volume of Norse lore they packed into this game is astounding. Also love the brutal conversation about how they'd kill Gná, I bet Kratos was thinking 'oh good there's three more of me now.' I love the Valkyries design.

I hope in the next game, Mimir will be the more mythological storyteller guy. In GOW 4 he absolutely nailed it. In Ragnarök, he didn't really gave the same storytelling vibes as the previous game and was more of a main friend character (which is ofcourse awesome!), but I hope they don't dwell on his true mythological character

When I got to the Crater in Vanaheim and Atreus was giving his dialogue relating to what we were doing, I thought it would be so much cooler if Freya were here instead as she could share more knowledge and information about the region. So after flooding the riverbed, I halted doing anything there until I got Freya back which was post-game. I was so disappointed that she provided no special dialogue anywhere except for the wishing well. I regretted not finishing the crater with Atreus. Now I can see what I may have missed with him.
