When Kratos was telling the story of how Ares tricked him into killing his family, imagine the extra shock for Freya if he revealed he was naturally olive-skinned and the white is actually the ashes of his wife and child stuck to his skin. Pretty sure Mimir knows that one if he's heard of the Ghost of Sparta

I find it weird how no one ever mentions that’s his flesh is made from the ashes of his old family. I find the whole concept of any god screwing around with Kratos weird. Like…. You understand this guy completely annihilated an entire pantheon single handedly, right? No army, no dwarves black smiths, no Freya, no Atreus, nothing. All by himself. He butchered the entire pantheon of Olympus and Greece. Like the scene where the Nornir are mocking him. Like really? You didn’t learn from the last sisters of Fate? Who were MUCH more powerful than the Nornir. And why is Kratos even worried about “dying”? He’s died before. I think 2 or 3 times. He literally murdered his way out of the afterlife. This is where my suspension of disbelief is kind of shaky.

@@bostontowny4life744 I don't think he ever was worried about his own death & fate in particular, he literally mentions "That is not the matter, death can have me when it earns me", I think he is more worried about his son Atreus than anything else. The original god of war creator may hate what they've done with the newer games.. While the older games where a badass power trip and fun as hell... I love this older kratos. He has calmed and become a better man who lives with regrets. I enjoy his growth. Age cooled his rage. It brought wisdom and patience. Eff what the original Creator thinks. fun story relate to "the hot gates": -there was 2 Spartan that was dissmissed by leonidas himself to go back home because 1 was sick and the other was wounded and tasked to carry him back. when they came back, the tasked soldier headed right back to the hotgates, only the ill soldier remained, humiliated by his country because Spartan's ultimate goal is to serve and die a glorious death on the battlefield, striped from his rights and citizenship of sparta, he swore revenge for his king and his fallen brethens. his name was Aristo-demos. - came next yeart, on the battle of Platea vs the Persians, he was the one leading the charge and fight, quote: " with a rage that not even death can hold him back, half broken shield and a dull sword and yet enemy lies defeated with each steps he takes. blood covered his hand, chest and face, waves of enemy continue to swarm the battlefield. he died a glorious death, hands gripped on a soldier till the spears impaled him motionless, red glow like roses rushed out from his body, bathe the sand of Pletea, Sparta has welcomed their lost son finally returned and reunite with his brethens."

To be fair this would make perfect sense. Mimir is clearly a celt, probably from somewhere closer to what we know now as scottland or england by the way he talks about stuff like haggis and black pudding. Olives wouldnt have been able to be acquired very far outside the of places by mediterranean sea, maybe at farthest the part of the world we know as the middle east, until the expansions of ancient Rome. Not without extreme difficulty at the very least. We know Kratos had become a god sometime after the battle of Thermopolyae (aka the battle of the hot gates or the battle of 300 spartans) because he mentions in one of his stories that he regretted not joining them, so we can assume he became a god around the late to mid 400's BC. Rome wouldnt have even existed as a city state, let alone a republic or even an empire, for a few hundred more years. I like they included that, its a neat detail.

"Did you think I couldn't handle it?" "No. I thought you shouldn't have to" "... Thanks :)" Honestly, its incredibly touching Kratos, even in game 1 (2018), still had that right. To be better, it shows itself in incredibly moving ways. Also, just, what I love so much in this game *is* kratos coming into his own as a father, and a god. The recollections of his absurd stories, stories truly befitting a god, and the wisdoms borne from. Or his Greek idioms. Its a fun way to develop his idiosyncrasies, and help show how much of a stranger he is, in a strange land, helping us, the player, identify with him in an odd way. Just, such a fun way to develop his character, while honoring the old games.

Greek gods in the Myths were much stronger than norse ones. Egyptian Gods might be stronger. But I have a theory that all the pantheons Kratos is visiting will have a grand purpose leading back to a "source" of the gods. Odin and Athena are examples of this. Athena actually exists in the Higher Plane itself. Odin found it but cant get in. Athena died a noble death and something about HOW gods die seem to be what allows them access. Odin wanted a way around that via the Mask.

The Blades themselves are also toxic. In the book versions of the first two games it’s described that they char _and_ corrode whatever they touch. That’s also why he still wears bandages, I think: they never healed, not completely.

Even though I think that GOW 2018 was definitely the better game, it was REALLY cool to see how far Kratos. I can't even BEGIN to count how many times I found my self with cheesy, ear to ear grin on my face because you can clearly see genuine happiness on Kratos' face, MANY times throughout the game, for the first time since the very first GOW. I've played ever single GOW game, including both handheld titles, and I can't think of a single moment where Kratos was actually happy. Since the death of his family, all Kratos has know is pain, suffering, misery, anger and rage. Happiness was completely foreign to him, and rightfully so.

He was given the title "God of war" but it was a title earned but still a demigod considering he's a child of zues. The rest of his power was stripped from him after he tried to kill himself and released the power of hope. Thor is incredibly strong but still half God-half giant as kratos is a demigod despite the title. Kratos is only the God of war by default as no one is left to hold the title in hid lands because he destroyed everything but he threw it all away not even seeking ares' Job. So in short he didn't become a full blooded God that used to be mortal as it was later revealed he's a demigod from birth because of zues.
