I like how Fenrir's fur pattern makes it look like half his face is skeletal. Not only is it symbolic of his esoteric nature (a supernatural hound of hel with the soul of a normal wolf--also note that prior to the soul transfer, Garm's face was completely white or "skeletal"), but it is also a visual reference to Loki's other child Hela, who is the only of Loki's & Angrboda's children not in the game and whose face is half human half skeletal AND who, like Garm, is the gatekeeper of Hel. Excellent character design.

I think the fur pattern is reminiscent to some family dogs having an eyepatch spot, which adds to Fenrir's cuteness factor and greatly increases his design appeal despite being a supernatural 80ft giant wolf. The fur pattern also puts great emphasis on Fenrir's giant warm, brown eyes; and contrasts Garm's icy blue, soulless eyes.

@@gustavowendell7937 Hel is a name, but of a place. It means underworld. Similar to how in greek myth, the underworld eventually came to bear the name Hades, after the god who ruled it. Indeed, both names are believed to have similar origins, both linked to words menaing unseen, or hidden.

Much like Brok, being returned with 3 out of 4 pieces, it makes me wonder what the fate of a soul missing three pieces would be (lucky Garm's body is immortal), and which piece went into Garm (I'm guessing "direction"?)
@thegreatjedi309 Жыл бұрын
The other parts of the soul follow direction to the afterlife, so it can't have been it as the other 3 parts didn't follow it into the knife. imo it's mind, as it was Fenrir's will to stay with Atreus rather than move on. Some others have said this is supported by the fact the resurrected Fenrir retained its memories, rationality etc. as opposed to becoming a mindless zombie
@enderreaper9240 Жыл бұрын
@@thegreatjedi309its also possible that it Was direction who went into the knife, but the other soul fragments didn't follow due to the knife being an unsuitable vessel for Fenrir's whole soul, however, upon being placed into garm, direction pulled the remained of its soul fragments into its knew body, and Fenrir is complete. Hel can be added in the game since she's the only child og Loki made with Angrboda. I have some mixed emotions about the game since it's missing some key characters but it's understandable since i don't want to see Atreus getting piped by a stallion to make Sleipnir for Odin lmfao.

@@wolkergaming5527 One of the few things that genuinely bugged me about the Norse duology (other than the fact that it WAS a duology) was that they definitely toyed with the idea of Loki time travelling or such and having children, simply because murals you find in the 2018 game confirm that Sleipnir does, or at least did exist at some point, and they even show Odin riding him into battle, yet Ragnarok completely ignores pretends he doesn't exist.

Well technically, Jormundgandr and Fenrir are his son but the dev use creative way to portray them to the young audience safely, as for Hel, I think Hel is not born yet since Hraesvelgr still in charge.

@@trihermawan9553 true, but I think they were definitely going to go with them being Loki's actual children in the beginning.. Fenrir was teased in GoW4 by one of his names 'Hróðvitnir', Sleipnir was teased in multiple murals and Jormungandr had a vague idea of who Atreus was. Yet in Ragnarök, whereas Huginn and Muninn appear, Geri and Freki were seen in a painting at Asgard, yet Sleipnir only appears in ancient murals. Fenrir was changed into a random wolf Atreus saved and then gave new life to and Jormungandr went from vaguely remembering Atreus to knowing exactly who he was and how to time-loop his own creation (and as a side note we still have no idea who blew the horn in GoW4). It was a great game don't get me wrong but you can definitely see the rewrites and crammed plot points.
