VideoPad Pro By NCH Full Tutorial
This is a tutorial and is a long video. I tried to cover as many items and tipics in VideoPad Pro by NCH, as much as I could but I had to let a lot of features out to save some time. If you have any questions on this product or how to use it, or editing in general, don't hesitate to ask. I will try to help as best I can.
If you would like to donate to the channel you can use this link, and I appreciate any donations. All donations will go for channel upgrades and items for review.

Hello, this was soo helpful! I watched the whole video from start to finish. Do you plan to make some video only about how to do all the video effects in videopad, please? :D I struggle a lot with those and there is no complete tutorial on youtube on only effects. I am just asking :D cause you explained everything so well, that it was easy to understand and I actually used a lot of things you said. Thank you so much for your great work! And dont worry about the length of this video, I clicked on it BECAUSE it was long, cause I felt like it is gonna be more helpful than watching something which is 5 minutes long...so thanks!

I love this tutorial. I purchased Video Pad, but couldn't understand how to use it. Dave's in-depth explanation was a huge help. I record audio on ProTools and video at the same time with my phone, but I didn't know how to sync the sound with the video. I even contacted Video Pad and asked for a refund. Then I discovered Dave Hayes. Thank you so much!!! Now, if I could just export to KZbin without it failing. Arrrg!

I felt the same way and that's why I purchased it too. They try to get you to buy it again in about a year, with updates to the program, but you don't have to update it if you don't want to. But do far the updates have been very good and I don't mind $30.00 some b bucks a year for a program if the updates are beneficial.

I try my best to make a tutorial that is easy to understand and follow, or the way I would like it to be for me to follow along with. Some of them are on my small channel, (Life, Post Stroke ), but most of them are on this channel. Ever since my second stroke though my guitar playing was severely compromised because of my partial paralysis in my right side. I did happen to find a manufacturer that makes pics that help people with arthritis and issues like that, that has got me back into playing guitar again. So it's almost like starting all over again. You are welcome, just enjoyed learning all about adding transitions. I can appreciate the moustache hair in your mouth, happened to my uncle all the time. I'm a newbie you tuber Seashell's Journey been working toward production since December last year. I never thought I'd figure out one video let alone upload others. Yesterday I just about did my computer in, exporting a file and my goodness the end result appeared with lines and a green screen playing audio from previous clip it then went back to the beginning but played audio from the next cli[p I thought I had added to make one long video. Have heard tutorials on overlay and transparency? is that may what I'm not doing properly also I have issues with getting my sound quality right. Thanks heaps for this full tutorial, I look forward to watching more. You're clear to understand, thorough give great examples and may I say "Don't believe it's an ugly mug!" Seashell

I have learned that less is best when it comes to transitions. I rarely use them in my videos now. And audio is very personal. What one person may like, another thinks is total crap...lol.. just make sure to use a good mic and record your audio separate from your video and put them together in post. And always record your audio say under 12db. You can always make it louder but you can never recover from audio that's recorded too loud. Hope that answers your questions and yes, I had to trim my mustache.. it was getting a tad long.

Hi David, very interesting tutorial and you have explained lots of things, sorry to hear about the stroke & i hope you get well soon. whenever you can if you could explain to me (1-what is the difference between delete & ripple delete and when to use which) (2-on the audio track how can i reduce a selected part of it, for instance, i don't want to delete the hand clapping on your video but i want to lower the volume) (3- how to pause the video to type names of people in it) (4- how to insert bubble box text) thank you
@HayesTech
@HayesTech 4 жыл бұрын
1) When you delete something it just does that, deleted it and you get a space of dead air where that piece of video with that. But in a ripple delete, it deletes what you want and then pulls the rest of the video, following the deleted portion, into the previous with no gaps.
@HayesTech
@HayesTech 4 жыл бұрын
2) To reduce volume on a specific portion, but not all the audio, just cut before and after the desired areas first. Then lower the volume in that specific area.

Hello again, Is it normal for the clips to freeze? As I said before,i have a 16 seconds clip that I'm looping for around 2mins. I'm adding some effects,like mirror and reverse. I've tried this a lot of times and there's always at least one clip that freezes in the middle(not the middle of the video,but the middle of that clip). Am I doing something wrong? Or is it just a bug?

I'm not sure. I don't have that issue. I have found that when I had issues with the program, after upgrading to the latest version, all or any issue I had disappeared. Very helpful, thanks! I'm slightly confused about why you need to repeatedly render the drafts, then bring them back into editing again.. I thought rendering was the very last step, once you were happy with the final edit?
@HayesTech
@HayesTech 2 жыл бұрын
It's just there way I edit. I do it in steps. Since I use several camera angles, I first bring all the camera angles into one time line. Then I bring that video in for first major edit. Then I'll do another for creating B-roll. Then bring the B-roll and 2nd draft in for combining. I usually add in music at that time too. That's just how it works best for me.

Nice tutorial, David. I've used the basic VideoPad alot. The Pro version allows external plugins - have you used any of these external plugins ? p.s. Davinci Resolve just crashes on my system on the free version and tech support won't help.

No, I don't use any of the plug-ins yet.. But I may in the future. As for DaVinci Resolve, I only use that for color correcting. And to be honest, I very rarely do any color correcting either, so I don't use it hardly at all. I do know that you have to have at least a quad core processor and a video card to use DaVinci Resolve. Now I only have 8Gb of ddr4 ram and my video card is built into the mother board but DaVinci Resolve definitely works on my laptop. Believe me, I was surprised that it did.

I recorded a video to edit on Vidoepad. I didn't add any extra/separate audio, only the video I recorded where I'm taling. However, when I tried to edit the video with Videopad, the video and audio don't sync. Also, there is a lot of boofering.
@HayesTech
@HayesTech 4 жыл бұрын
The audio not being in sync, if the audio was attached to the video, was out of sync from the camera. It's not the video editing software. To correct this (and it may be difficult since it's out of sync from the source) you would need to first unlink the audio from the video and then slowly, in very small increments, mine the audio one way or the other until it looks good to you. #### You may have to do this a couple times through the video though. ### I had this issue with one of the cheep action cameras that I reviewed. That's why I like to record audio separately with my Zoom H1n and my Sony lapel microphone ( $25.00 for the Don't mic from Amazon) and add that audio in post. But from what your telling me, it's a camera issue, most likely the software.

@HayesTech

That's a tough one and I am sorry I don't have an answer for you there. I've never head to save several edits so I have never tried that. I usually work on a single project at a time and save it. I may name it "edit 1 of project whatever" and so on. I normally bring in still my videos and connect them together in the timeline they need to be and then process that. Then I'll bring that into edit and cut out what I don't want and chop out anything that I don't want and process that. Then I'll bring it back into editing and add in the like share and subscribe and my ending. Then I'll add in any "B-roll" and music and process that as my finished video for uploading to KZbin. I currently have Pinnacle Studio 19 and Movie Studio Platinum 13.0 which I'm struggling with how to use them properly. Your tutorial of this software looks much easier to use. One question, is there a way to make an index and be able to click on a clip directly to view vs. trying to find by fast forwarding? like a chapter on some movies? Each VHS or Hi8 tape will have many different scenes over a one or two year period like birthdays, holiday, swimming, etc. Your tutorial video does a very nice job of moving the cursor slowly to be able to follow, giving detailed information, then playing the clip in real time to show the change. B-roll is just any video you add to your main video that adds artistic quality to your video. I'm going to do another video on just B-roll soon. As for videos on top of the main video, the video on top will take over anything it's above. Both in video and audio. If you only want the video to show over the main video then shut off the audio to the upper clip. You can also add fade in and fade out transitions to the B-roll. The only thing that made me mad was the app telling me there was a needed update and then charging me for it. I could have uninstalled and reinstalled the old version again but ultimately decided to go ahead with the update. But all in all its a good video editing tool.

Thanks for the video. Can you tell me the difference between delete and delete ripple. Thanks
@HayesTech
@HayesTech 3 жыл бұрын
When you delete, it leaves a space where the track was, that you delete. When you use delete ripple, it moves everything after what you deleted down to fill in the space that was created by the deleted track. I hope that helps, let me know if I can help in any other way. And thank you for watching and for commenting.

Is this program free without watermark once it been used for noncommercial purpose? I really like this program because seems to have a lot in common with Camtasia Studio.

No it's not free. I think it's like $40.00. but any time they upgrade their software, if it's past the 1 year you purchased it, you'll have to purchase it again to get the updates. I don't agree with that at all but since it works so well for what I do, I'm using it for all my editing now. Hope that answers your question and thank you for watching and for commenting.
@HayesTech

But, you don't have to update it either. As long as you don't update it, your purchase will last forever, so to speak, but if you want to update it, after the 1 year term, you'll have to purchase it again. But again, you don't have to update it if you don't want to.

Hey David. Wanted to know about putting a green screen video together that had an animation video behind me while I'm talking. Thanks in Advance.
@HayesTech
@HayesTech 4 жыл бұрын
I have never used a green screen as i don't have any backgrounds that I can use to make a green screen video, but, this video editor does have green screen settings in order to make videos like the one you talk about. As soon as I can get a green screen back ground, I will make a tutorial on how to use that feature, since this editing software has that capability.
@HolahkuTaigiTWFormosanDiplomat

In my acknowledge, you need a green background in reality and you manipulate the color into transparency in the software then you put your video in that transparency.

Thank you very much, that's was very helpful. Would you make a video about subtitles using this software? Mayibe we can get the in and out from this functionality, especially when we have to add subtitles in another language and have to make every singingle line one by one, it's really annoying, maybe you know some tricks to share. Thank you again

I'm pretty sure I did a video on using subtitles and adding text. I made several shorter videos going over a couple items in each tutorial instead of one long video. I'll have to double check but I'm pretty sure I covered that.
