Watching this a week after our Cape York trp. Agree with you. Personal choices of gear, depending on requirements and preference. I didn't take a chain saw, yet we had fires, took no spare fuel - no need to, had no solar; have a big battery with DC engine charging, had two fridges; one 90 ltrs in back and a small 15 ltr inside cab for drinks on the go. Our table was a roll-up alloy slates - light and compact. Comfy chairs a must! The rooftop had an annexe, with floor - great change/storage room and dog's bedroom, but a pain to pack and in bad weather. The 270° awning was good to have. Setting up and packing camp, daily, was a pain , as we never stayed put longer than a night... Your sealed boxes make sense; our bags were too flimsy and let dust in. 40 lts of water is plenty to take. No need for spare fuel. Maybe a second spare wheel..?

Love to see what other people like to take! Noticing how much room that toilet takes up, I have a fold up one that uses bags that fits behind the back seat in the dmax (although no point if you're not going to use it). Definitely given me a few ideas for things to take along next time!

Cheers for the vid. Funny with the iTech solar panels. Bought the 100 and 200w. 100W not working straight out the the box and 200 would only give 128w max under ideal conditions. Returned both. Best of luck.

Thanks Adam. Its interesting how ppl prioritize diffrrent things ive been living in my triton and tiny homemade trailer converted into caravan for 11months now and a good strong comfy Chair is i think amongst my most important items. One excellent item ive used is Lithium cranking batteries (they also double as house batteties, i use lithiumax)and these have been life savers as they are so small and can go more than 1yr without a chsrge) if i had the money i would upgrade my engel battery box to yours as it looks good and just has so many othrt functions. eagerly looking fwd to your skynet review! (pls include use, setup etc as Im sure u will). Wheres your water supply? water tanks? (i didnt see it in this video maybe i missed it). If u had 3 ppl im guessing you need at least 100lt tank min?) Instead of showers as they are commonly found, I use a large collapsible bucket and bucket shower have one of those tiny toilet tents and 1 bucket to scrub and rinse with soap another to wash it all off and you can get pretty clean (skipping a good shampoo(shamp takes another bucket) on just two buckets and the buckets have multiple other uses. The mini tents are alsp good for a toilet or a wuick roadside clothes change. Also ehere are your other tools? eg shovel? pick fishing rods? Another item i find indespinsible is a lithium fan to keep cool and a cheap ($120) epay diesel heater for the cold, (also use it for drying fish and rabbit). Thanks for your videos.

Cheers Adam. I'm always taking far more than I need, especially on my hunting trips which generally only go for 2-3 days but I take more than enough stuff for weeks. I'm planning a trip in Oct from WA to SA, and maybe including a bit more (Vic, NSW?), so this video is making me revaluate my list. 3 or 4 weeks including a week long stay at one spot. I always include a gazebo as I don't have an awning, and I also, as yet, do not have a 12v system so battery boxes for me. I have also installed a long range fuel tank to alleviate the worry of not enough fuel on the big legs.
@VideoShowMeHow
@VideoShowMeHow Жыл бұрын
Yeah long range tank was on my list for the cape trip as well, but I didn't want to take one that sat below the chassis rails and I'm glad I didn't because there were a few parts of the old tele track that I was scraping on the chassis rails. Turns out really didn't need that kind of range going to the top as well as there was plenty of fuel about.

Great vid as always Adam - looks like you had an awesome trip. You mentioned an attachment for the Ryobi mini blower for deflating air mattresses etc - where did you see that?
@VideoShowMeHow
@VideoShowMeHow Жыл бұрын
Yeah was great! Main vid should be epic 🤘 Wasn't an actual Ryobi attachment, I saw a vid of someone who'd shoehorned some sort of plastic tubing on the end sealing with some tape. They demo'd sucking the air out of a mattress and was super quick!

Awesome pair of videos, thanks for sharing. Can I ask how the iTech 300W blanket failed? And can I ask you how you went with the warranty. I only ask because I have a pair of them, havent had any issues yet, but I'm nervous now lol.
@VideoShowMeHow
@VideoShowMeHow 11 ай бұрын
Cheers 👍 Yeah it simply wouldn't charge more than around 30w after one trip. In my exp the warranty took much longer than their own ETA and wasn't the greatest at all unfortunately, complete with told that they hadn't been able to test for a month because "we haven't had enough sun..". No joke. Anyway they replaced in the end to their credit. Like I said my experience only. Have since gone to a different brand for my main portable unit.

I have a 47l fridge and think it's a great size. Clear top bags for non fridge food.😂 The 18v power tools, chainsaw rattle gun and grinder definitely a winner. Interested to find out what happened to the solarvblanket. Looking to purchase a solar blanket soon. Cheers
@VideoShowMeHow
@VideoShowMeHow Жыл бұрын
Yeah, eventually got the blanket replaced under warranty but to be quite honest it was like pulling teeth, pretty disappointed in how they went about it. Even to the point of saying it was a 'minor' fault (So they didn't need to provide a refund option) when it would only put out a max of about 30 watts (pretty major in my book if the panels rated at 300 watts...). In any case on balance at least they replaced with a new one under warranty. If I were purchasing a new solar blanket, I definitely recommend checking out their warranty policy and what that looks like before pulling the trigger.

What do you think about tub vs canopy? Would you remove the tub and go for a tray and canopy setup instead or the packing/unpacking you had to do.
@VideoShowMeHow
@VideoShowMeHow Жыл бұрын
So far, love it! I like the ability to basically have it empty for other activities, for normal trips the packing bit is pretty straightforward now as with the rtt, water/air/12v on board etc that's not a whole lot that needs to be packed :) But who knows lol maybe one day 😉

What did you find wrong with the 300W solar blanket Adam? I’ve just returned from the Cape as well and found that my blanket was not drawing anywhere near enough. Max 8A but most often nowhere near that.
