I did find a4 but that's only because i was looking for the most ridiculous move there is. When agad told the move my jaw dropped. The fact that Vidit actually found it and why it's winning is incredibly impressive. Amazing

14:32, relating to the fact that Kxd8 2.Rxh8 3.Bxe8 is not possible as it backed up from b5 to a6, no there is not an option for the bishop to reach e8 square, as it committed to a less favorable diagonal.

a4. I don't get how such moves are possible. You can't take it. You can't ignore it. You can't defend it or even lose a tempo moving away from it. I guess there's always a move in a position that is solved for mate, but some of these are really hard to understand.
@gibbeldon
@gibbeldon 2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking about Rh1 the whole time. It would be a very strong move, but I didn't notice the only defensive resource for black: Kd8 followed by Be8 blocking against checkmate. If I had seen that it would be not so far off to look into attacks against the Bishop, black's only defender against checkmate.
