Yeah it’s an awesome pedal and I believe that one was responsible for the cool Velcro effect you can hear at the end of that song. I don’t believe I manage to get that good of a sound in this video, but at least it has that Velcro type sound. 😅

Astounding video Vigi. I wish I can afford that pedalboard.Right now, I only have the BOSS DS-2, the Ibanez WH V3, Marshall Jackhammer (I use this as compressor because of high volumes of the Ibanez WH V3, and also the FX 65 Super Chorus (This last one is a good option in order to get the BSSM tone. Lately I've been having fun playing songs like the under the bridge, give it way, and power of equality by using this pedal). With that said, every pedal is conected to my pc through my Focusrite scarlett 2i2. And the truth is that I have achieved quite nice things, but it doesn't give me that feeling that having everything analog gives you. Also, I think it's quite fun to be collecting the pedals of your favorite guitarist, which in this case is John, don't you think? I really enjoy watching your videos, the truth is that you upload pure high quality material, thank you very much for that. Keep it up!
@Vigi
@Vigi 3 жыл бұрын
That’s a sweet collection. That chorus is really interesting too and I can imagine it’s good for BSSM tone. I wonder how it compares to the ce-1. :) I see a lot of usefulness with your setup. Less messy, and you can record things much quicker and it’s easier to tweak things. I wouldn’t say having all the pedals here in this video is the best way. Actually, as we speak right now, I only have two pedals on my entire board. 😅 I like switching between different setups and working with the strengths of each setup. It’s switching things up that’s fun, not having as large pedalboard as possible and then keeping it that way forever. :) Collecting the pedals over the years was just another fun thing to do to switch things up. It was just as fun as learning song, writing song etc. 😀

You wondered in which way John used the Big Muff...I don't know every detail about his gear which also changed from time to time but in my experience he usually stacks the Big Muff with the DS-2. I don't know the order, though. Maybe Will Galluccio knows more about this. However you can hear it pretty good in the Slane Castle show. I'm pretty sure the Zephyr Song solo is the DS2 and Big Muff together. There are not many instances when John would use the Big Muff on its own but three songs come to my mind: Wet Sand solo, Warlocks solo, Minor Thing solo :)

I just got a Dyna Comp the other day and I'm really happy with it. I feel like John used it in the studio for each album not just bssm. All his other tones are cleaner but still compressed as opposed to his dirtier live tone. Although that could just be the rack compressors doing that. But I think the Dyna Comp does a reasonable job at replicating his album tone. Interesting how you put it after the DS2 though. When I put mine after the DS2, the DS2 sounds really harsh, but when I put it before, it sounds normal.

According to what I have just found today, BBC Live In London 2006 John didn't have the Fuzzrite which I found out about a week ago, instead today I just found out that he had 2 big muffs on his board at BBC London 2006. I set my Big Muff different to how John Set his because it's sounds different setting mine like John's that's because he had an earlier version so which will still sound bright with it maxed out. I'm saving up for the new Mosrite Fuzzrite Clone by Frusrite.

hey man I remember you saying your wilson wah had a scratchy pot. just wanted to let you know that you can replace it with either the v1 pot or a ten spot 2 pot. also I wanted to ask, I'm curious, when I asked you about the ten spot before buying you said yours has an open pot and offered to send a picture. I might take you up on that. But I was wondering if you have one with a v1 pot, or the ten spot 2 pot? the v1 pot looks like a normal round pot, while the wilson pot is a square plastic thing. i just got a new pot for my ten spot 2 (sealed) and a new ten spot, this time came with a v1 pot. I'm curious whether he uses the v1 pots in there sometimes, or if he did that ad hoc on my order so he could send me the other as a replacement.

Haha yeah I know what you mean. Obviously I considered it. I looked on many demos about it but I felt like it didn't inspire me to use it apart from the TAYT solo FX, which doesn't feel worth it. Also, I man get a very similar effect with Moogerfoogers lowpass filter and the CP-251. :)

I ALWAYS wondered which gear John used on the B-Side "Body of Water" kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIjUf2BpmsiWbJY It's one of my favourite songs and it sounds so thick! It's not the Big Muff, though cause that would be too muddy. Either it's his Strat played on the neck pickup into the EHX English Muff'n or one of his humbucker guitars straight into the drive channel of his Silver Jubilee. Does somebody more about this? I like this sound so much! It's very fuzzy but still clear enough - not like the Big Muff.
