Angel Young I agree just commented that the show was Amazing like a house on fire Malone and Griffith wrote the best stories loved the spring fling story and viki did a lot of people said it was dark with the gang rape and viki s molestation but life is dark sometimes and makes for good drama this was a golden time Roger Howarth was discovered and of course the brilliant acting of slezak and Strasser Malone was brilliant but he was fortunate to.have the best actors in any medium and the emmys won to Erika Roger susan haskell and Hilary b smith too many classic moments to name. my mom recorded oltl I was in school I remember my mom and I watching this and every moment of the rape of Marty. i watched this and coukd barely breath
@gabelogan58774 жыл бұрын
Angel Young They has another sexual assault storyline running during the same period that was equally riveting. Usually repeating yourself would be a death knell, but this childhood abuse and frat gang rape storyline was some of its most critically acclaim work.

I was 12 when this went down and I remember being stunned when this was revealed. Even at that age, I knew then the gravity of what Michael Malone was setting into motion. It really took all we had known about that story and turned it up on its head. This story was insane, bonkers and just top notch from the writing to the acting. It was truly one of the best examples of an umbrella story whose effects were felt even til the OLTL's end.

They've known about Niki since the show premiered in 1968. The others, in order of emergence, were Tommy, Jean, Princess, Tori, and Victor... all revealed starting in this ep. from January of 1995. I remember it VERY well.

I remember this fabulous storyline like it was yesterday. It was Dorians trial for murder trial and this storyline that made me a devoted One Life to Live fan. i was in highschool and quite ill when this storyline was on so it's great to have another chance to see it. Robin Strasser and Erica Slezak are brilliant.
@CDThe118 жыл бұрын
I remember Robin Strasser saying that she didn't put her name in for the Supporting Actress Emmy. She said that Dorian would never play second fiddle to anyone, so she decided not to submit her name. She most certainly would have won in my opinion.
@RhaegarTargaryen1st3 жыл бұрын
That was foolish on her part. The role Dorian played in this storyline WAS a supporting one and an amazingly strong one at that. She put her ego over truth.

Maybe it’s just me but when the truth finally was real about what Victor had done to his own daughter and the Dorian knew it almost seemed like she had been protecting her.. all the battles they had over the years and Dorian possess this knowledge it could’ve knocked her out with one shot and she never used it until this moment
@lfctech50932 ай бұрын
As many despicable things as Dorian did to Viki, she tried to tread the razors edge, getting Viki's attention without bringing out her alters. In her own way, Dorian was very protective of Viki. I'm convinced that a storyline of them being sisters in a past life would have been interesting. They might have had serious unfinished business in the past life, so they were put back together in this life to work it out once and for all.

Maybe the show wouldn't have gotten cancelled if it was still the powerhouse it was here. The stories were epic back then. If only it didn't have to go so dreadfully downhill. I miss the glory days of this show. Robin Strasser and Erika Slezak are dynamite together. There was nothing else like it on soaps.

progressive59 it was the highest rating soap of the 3 on abc at the time the network cancelled it and it was higher than or tied with Days. It’s last day or close to it got over 2 million watchers. I was so sad I cried one of the days in the final week. I was born watching Days and watched Passions since it aired when I had just turned 4 till NBC cancelled it. Watched OLTL from 2007/2008 till it’s 2012 cancellation. Tina I saw as Rebecca on Passions and Gigi was Mimi on Days so I already had two familiar faces. I’ve watched GH since September 2011.

@@stefansnellgrove OLTL was setting record ratings in the lead up to its final episode. The show and AMC weren't cancelled due to ratings or quality. The shows weren't bringing in the money they were in the 1980/90s and the network wanted to replace them with low cost lifestyles shows.

ONE LIFE should have ended with one final Slezak/Strasser scene. Don't get me wrong, for what is was (they were still believing they'd continue on the internet at the time...), it was a good ending very true to OLTL form... but I think had they known Prospect Park was gonna bail on them, Dorian should have returned for one last hurrah to close out the show with Viki.

I've been trying to piece all the you tube footage of Dorian arrest trial sentencing bc i heard so much about it but originally I was in school and missed a lot of it. I know David forged the diary entry about Irene killing Victor, how did he fool the experts that analyze handwriting ? also I know Dorian and David worked together to keep Todd from learning he was the Lord heir but did she know in the beginning it was fake when she was on death row? also people said Dorian finally admitted she killed Victor how is that explained since the awful storyline that vic was still alive somewhere . what a debacle and it advanced nothing when viki asked him.how he could do what he did he went into cardiac arrest

Okay, help me out. I know it's confusing because the storyline changed over the years but why did Dorian want to leave town so badly? So she could escape the supposed murder charges - she seemed to have good reason to believe they wouldn't stick? Or because of Vickers' scam? And why (are we now supposed to believe) that Dorian kept silent about Viki's abuse for so long? Couldn't she recognize that that abuse was what 'caused' Niki Smith?
