DEAR SUBSCRIBERS: I apologize for re-uploading this video. I tried finding a way of re-encoding the video so that KZbin's transcoding process wouldn't screw up the color balance and brightness. No luck. KZbin is a good social platform, but a lousy video-sharing platform.

I very much appreciate your critiques. Some of the big fails that you have showcased in such creative detail are advertised so much on social media (i.e. Vaultek). More than a bit bothersome that realistic exploitations aren’t tested for during preproduction. You are doing real work here and I thank you for it.

Love the updates on approved safes; however, I can’t wait to see the next hot garbage safe.

For a second I thought it was the Fort Knox video that appeared on my KZbin feed. Also, LOL, I feel like the simplex lock became a running gag

The lock is no gag. I recommend it highly. But I did make a gag about another video I made.

I just bought this exact safe last week. I really wanted one of the U.S. made competitors to this (Fort Knox or V-Line), but I had a budget. I went with this one because of the real Simplex lock and the thickness of the steel used, especially at the price point. I was hoping you'd have a recommendation on it before I pulled the trigger, but I'm glad I bought it and I'm glad it's now on your "Approved" list. The cable system is a joke though. I wish they would have just drilled a couple holes in the back corner so I could use a more stout cable lock system. My wife won't let me drill holes into our nice bedside tables. Thanks for the info! Cheers!

Would the cable work well for a vehicle installation? I don’t leave a firearm in my vehicle on a routine basis, but occasionally I have to leave it in the vehicle.
@HandgunSafe Жыл бұрын
That's pretty much your call. I wouldn't do it. I think I'll do a follow-up video soon where I attach a series of cables to a portable case, and then record on camera how quickly I can cut through each cable using lineman's pliers.

Love this style of locks. biometric are all fails eventually. They are like the police, when seconds matter, you're only minutes from getting into your biometric!

Hi, what do you think about the Viking VS-35SX which is a front opening safe, as opposed to top-opening? Also on Amazon but a bit pricier at $290. The door is only 5mm thick, but it uses the Simplex lock too. Capacity is greater than this 35SX at only $40 more.

I like Viking Safe products. If I've endorsed a product on my recommendations list (see playlists), then I endorse the safe.

Just purchased this safe. I had this mixed up with your video on the stealth safe. How concerned should someone be about the piano hinge? You made a point in the other video about how it was reinforced.
@HandgunSafe Жыл бұрын
I know, I've pointed out the difference between concealed and exposed hinges. I'll endorse this safe with exposed hinges, because it's still going to take tools and time to attack it. If the safe is bolted down, an attacker won't the able to move it around and give himself easier access to the hinges for his attack. Besides, the videos I've posted that get the most views are the ones looking at Union Safe Co. products. People just don't want to spend money on gun safety. If you're willing to invest in this Viking pistol box, you're doing better than the average gun owner.

Old thread I know but how thick is the steel for this compared to the for Knox? It seems like more features at a lower price point I'm just curious if there's any drawbacks
@HandgunSafe5 ай бұрын
The two boxes are nearly identical and have the same amount of steel. Just get the one you want. 😀

Can this safe be used with the cable from Steelhead Outdoors... perhaps if the hole is opened up, if needed?
@HandgunSafe Жыл бұрын
I no longer have that safe to reference. But I think you ought to be able to widen the hole for the Steelhead cable. If you try it, be sure to burnish off the new hole edges so the cable won't abrade against sharp metal.
@Werewolf_Six Жыл бұрын
@HandgunSafe Roger that, I appreciate the advice.

@@Werewolf_Six Sorry to keep replying, but I forgot to mention something. In a week or so, I am going to be recording a video about a new Steelhead lock box that has a Simplex lock on it. It's well designed and slightly smaller than this Viking pistol box. You might like it.

Do you have any suggestions on how to use this safe in a vehicle if the safety cable is a throw away. Been trying to figure out an installation location on a 2019 Atlas, very little room under the seats. Or do you have a better recommendation. I rarely would need it only for time I can't carry legally

I just took mine out of the box and it will not open via following the instructions. Pretty ridiculous
@HandgunSafe8 ай бұрын
Contact Viking Safe through their website. Every one of those locks come from the factory with the same preset combination, 2&4 together, then 3. Maybe somebody at the second factory, where the locks are installed in the boxes, something went wrong.

How large is the hole for the cable? The one included looks like it's poor. So really what I want to know is there a substitute cable that might work better?
