Fenrir is indeed a wolf and is the son of Loke. In Fenrirs early days he was a harmless "creature" but in time he grew so huge that asgard started to fear him. So they tried to chain him without success. Eventually dwarfs made a special "rope" to keep him "locked up" and in the "prophesy" there is said that fenrir will brake loose when ragnarök comes. (I tried to explain it as well as I could. Pretty hard to do in a language that isnt my mother tongue.)

Wolves are both Odin's travelling companions, but a wolf also represents Loki's children (Fenrir, the wolf who would cause the end of the world and Vali Loki's son who was turned into a wolf to force him to eat his own brother to make Loki suffer).

I love that they explain more about the Norse mythology. The story about Thor and the Giant is very famous :-). First Loki is challenged in an eating contest against a man called Logi (that actually means "fire"). As Loki had eaten all of the meat between the end and the middle, Logi had eaten the meat, the bones, and even the table itself.. Loki had clearly lost. After this a human boy named Tjalfi (that is together with Thor) is challenged in a running contest against Hugi (that means "thought"). By the time Hugi reached the finish line, he was so far ahead of Thjalfi that he doubled back to meet his contestant. Again the team lost... Thor then challenged anyone in the castle to a drinking contest. The Giant Utgarda-Loki had one of his servants fetch the kind of drinking horn from which Utgarda-Loki’s men were said to drink. Thor drank mightily, but by the time he had to pause for a breath, the level of liquor in the horn had barely lowered. In the end he failed because the Horn contained an entire sea. Then Utgarda-Loki suggested that Thor attempt to simply lift his cat from the floor, but Thor proved unable to do even this. The cat was in fact the Midgard serpent Lastly Thor challenged anyone in the castle to wrestle with him. Utgarda-Loki appointed an old woman, Elli (that means “Age”) who was one of his servants. But the great god lost even this contest. You cannot fight age... Because they could not win, they were kicked out the next day.

Freya is a fertility god, Fenrir is a wolf, not even a God I'm pretty sure, just a magic wolf. They're two entirely separate things. Frey also has a brother called Freyr, who is also a fertility God, but for the opposite gender.

Fenrir is Loki's son and Hel's brother, so I guess it does make him at least half a god.... same goes for Jörmungandr. He also is supposed to kill (well, swallow) Odin during Ragnarok, so he's definitely as powerful as a god.

SmSEdits Floki is the character and Loki is a Norse God like Odin, Thor and Freya. They have very similar sounding names it easy to get confused I guess.

Okay, I'm just gonna leave this comment in regards to Floki and Ragnar: Everyone tends to be on Ragnar's side, because he is our main character so we do see things more from his perspective. And Travis' charismatic performance boosts our love for him up too. Not to mention, Ragnar has ambitions and he sees "the bigger picture", as everyone puts it. I love Ragnar. But I think everyone (like Ragnar) keeps forgetting Floki's value. He built the boat that sailed them West. That ONE boat that managed to sail West. Ragnar's ambitions and visions for the future would not have happened if Floki wasn't there to build the boat. My point is that... I don't like how Ragnar (and most viewers) tend to disregard Floki and paint him as white noise. That's all.

That is true, Floki was crucial. But Floki is taking his personal beliefs too far, to the point where he think that he is the smartest man alive and that only he knows what's right. That's why Ragnar is starting to get tired of it in this episode...

i agree with everything that you guys have said. of course, i sure disagree with how Floki thinks, cus fuck the Gods. I just think, Ragnar’s great but he is kinda having a record of treating the ppl who truly love him like shit. look how he treated lagertha. and now Floki, just cus he thinks Floki’s annoyingly small-minded. am just stating this, cus, while i do think Ragnar’s amazing, I hardly see people point out his flaws. Even the whole thing about Auslaug, everyone hates her (i hate her a lot) but no one seems to point out Ragnar’s at fault too. I just needed to point out how Ragnar was treating Floki, when he shld remember Floki practically sailed him to where he can go now. :)

Kittyora Sheepy You're right, Ragnar does have some flaws when it comes to treating friends. Although, before he can be just Ragnar, he need to be earl/king Ragnar, which changes the way he have to act. Regarding Aslaug, I think that I am her biggest fan lol

I really wish Torstein would have used his axe and screamed the last line, and then the others could have used that as a signal to attack. Almost a perfect scene, don't know why they made that mistake. 11:40 Hahaha! XD You should listen to how they say Torstein instead of trying to say it from the text. Alright, just watched this episode and watching some reactions and I just can't help but laugh at the ritual scene. Not cause it's dumb, not at all, it's a part of their culture and I understand that. However, that's probably not the best way to introduce Vikings to a bunch of Christians. Finger painting with blood on a cow, make a giant circle with torches and have people wearing bone headdress, speak some language that sounds scary to them, sacrifice the animal by decapitation, paint blood on your face, pour plood on yourself, flick blood at the ground.... to a bunch of Christians who refuse to accept other gods, that probably looks very Satanic
